Along the path leading the gardens was a different path leading to a temple on the castle grounds. While everyone headed to one of the transparent glass houses where the special dining area for the royal and Su families had been set up, Scarlet branched off and ventured into the temple.

She was not the only one, the monks did the same thing__, so did Esong, Frost and his brothers.

"Where are they all going?" The emperor stopped moving and he asked Dorian.

The Su parents were moving together with the emperor and empress. Right now, they were nothing more than in-laws and family.

"To make some offerings." Mega answered. "Scarlet does it almost everyday. I heard her telling Carolyn that she should do the same today."

Scarlet had indeed told her sister to do so when they were walking out of the ballroom. The reason for this was simple, a goddess had just blessed her union personally. Her marriage would be filled with unfaltering love, something not everyone got.

Carolyn and Markay, the emperor noticed were following those who were heading to the temple and so were the rest of the Su’s, immediate family only.

"Should we follow them?" The emperor asked.

It sort of felt awkward to be the only ones who were not doing it.

Dorian looked at his wife and Mega shrugged. He looked at the emperor and said," Er, if you wish to your..."

"No, don’t address me as your highness today. I have told you, we are now one big family." The emperor reminded him.

"Yes, in-law." Dorian answered.

The emperor slapped Dorian on the back lightly and said, "Call me King, King Wu."

He turned in the direction of the temple and the Su’s followed.

The cameras and most of the nobles who were not engrossed in their food noticed. Some of them made not to pay a visit to the temple later. As for the drones of the reporters, those which were closest zoomed in.

Inside the brightly lit spiritual temple which had energy crystal lamps, flowers from Arcissa’s house and a pond of mixed waters, Alix, and Fion were tapping a few bells by hand.

They produced a sound similar to that in Carnelia’s underworld palace.

When they were finished, they bowed before the many hand crafted figurines that Scarlet had arranged in a circle.

Many, in the likeness of the different gods and at their center, the god of death.

Frost sided up to her and whispered, "Do they know which deity that is?"

She smiled and shook her head. Telling people that they were making offerings to a god of death was bound to produce a few frowns and freak them out.

Scarlet brought out a lot of prepared food, the special kind, wines, incense of different kinds, salt, sugar, water, gold and even energy stones.

On a large altar Fion and the other monks placed most of these items carefully. This was not their first time inside this temple. They also knew that the things Scarlet brought into the temples had a habit of disappearing into thin air.

Tion and the other guards came in and brought the fattest animals of different breeds. This was Scarlet’s bribe to the deity of animals. The best of everything so that their efforts would pay off and their herds quadrupled many times over.

The moment she understood the importance of the blessings of the gods, she ensured that everyone understood it as well.

Someday, she would be gone and they would have to rely on themselves. She would not always be around to purchase things in the underworld and pretentiously claim that she had found them in a forest.

When she was done, the others made offerings too, giving what they had, everything that came to mind, including jewels, shoes, clothes, paintings and whatever else they thought of.

Carolyn was about to light some incense in front of a life like statue of chaos when Scarlet pulled her in front of love.

"Here, the goddess of love. Don’t forget to say thank you."

Everyone soon left the temple when they were finished, leaving behind the monks. In the blink of an eye, right in front of their eyes, everything vanished.

The monks did not even gasp but they just bowed and prayed.

The family made its way to the glass house and sat down for their meal. The Su’s to one side and the Wu’s to another, with the exception of Markay and Esong who sat with their women on the Su side at the table.

Carolyn’s sitting with the Su’s was something which made the empress raise her eyebrows.

The emperor however held her arm and shook his head. He said something which Etienne Wu usually said. "Step by step."

Carolyn had not been part of the Wu’s for long now. She would have to be initiated into their family slowly. By the time the wedding came around, she would be a true Wu woman.

"Mommy." Justin escaped Cecily’s confines and finally, after so many hours found his way to his mother.

It was instinct for Scarlet to lift and embrace him, which she did. Then, she recalled that she was teaching him to be independent so she put him down.

He did not appreciate the lesson she was trying to teach and he stayed there, looking at her expectantly.

Why did you put me down? His eyes asked.

He raised his arms, begging to be carried and smiled. "Mommy, I missed you."

"Go back to your great grandma." Esong tilted his head backwards and told his son.

The boy had learned how to manipulate his mother emotionally quite early. He would bat his eyelashes, smile and say something sweet. If that failed, his eyes welled up and his lips wobbled.

After Esong’s words, he had gone for wobbling lips and tear filled eyes which tugged at Scarlet’s heart.

"Let’s move over." Mega suggested. Scarlet’s was not the only one whose heart couldn’t take it when he was sad.

Dorian moved to the next chair, Mega moved, Halley and everyone else shifted until the spot next to Scarlet opened up.

"Sit down." She told him.

Justin wanted to say no but his father was warning him with stern eyes to behave. He climbed onto the chair and sat down. But, he tilted his body and made sure that he was cradled against Scarlet.

"Mommy, I cannot reach the food. Will you feed me please?" He tugged on Scarlet’s arm and smiled adorably.

"Hoo!" The empress guffawed.

"Justin.." Esong called his son sternly.

Cecily shook her head and said, "Let him be, they have been apart for almost an entire day. He has been so well behaved and he stayed by my side calmly."

"Right, you have been a good boy today." Scarlet complimented him.

The emperor was not completely enamored by Justin and he raised his glass. "We should make a toast to the union of our two families."

Everyone raised their glasses.

"May we forever be united and let this union be the beginning of a wonderful____, er, life." He said.

Everyone cheered for the toast.

"To the happy couple and may we all get rich." Elroy added.

A few people laughed.

"To the happy couple." The third princess said.

"And to a fun after party." Beord added.

"What after party?" The emperor asked. He had not heard about an after party.

Elroy smile and answered, "We are going to the new amusement park to play laser tag, race motorbikes and do other fun things. We reserved it and there will be no press so we can go as crazy as we want."

"Would you like to come with us?" Dorian asked the emperor.

The emperor shared a mysterious smile with the empress and they both answered, "We would love to."
