Chapter 541: The hound’s debut.
She walked to the elevated platform and it lowered her down to the fighting stage. Before it landed, she jumped down of her own accord, a move which was simple but elegant and somehow enraptured the hungry crowd.
The two male hosts, dressed in exaggerated silver, red and black armors smiled cunningly when they saw her. Like a pack of hyenas, their teeth were exposed unveiling the greed they had and how much they couldn’t wait to sink their sharp yellow poisonous teeth into her.
"The hound has guts." One of them said.
"Not even five hundred but two hundred." The other said.
They looked and talked like twins, as if they had one mind and one naturally picked up where the other left off.
She smirked and said, "That’s my style, didn’t you know? I don’t like to waste time."
"This is not division one little girl, I would advise you to start at the bottom." One of them said.
Scarlet twirled around and her red cloak turned black. It was her hound cloak, complete with Severus’s hound image, only a change had been made and it was two hounds because she had Flan as well.
She spread her arms out wide and touched her storage bracelet. From it, she pulled out her own mecha, a female version of Mega X1. She didn’t need to hide her mecha since everyone was already aware of what her opponent’s mecha looked like. There was no need for secrecy at all. In fact, she was deliberately showing off the brand new mecha which had never seen or tasted a single battle.
It’s red and black graceful body had the head of a hound and tucked in wings made of the strongest alloy mixed with crushed stones from Lythia’s spring and heat stones from Carnelia’s palace. Severus had got one of his friends that dealt in armors to modify it.
Scarlet opened it by scanning her palm print on its bottom and she jumped inside, settling sown in the cockpit.
"Are we fighting or talking?" she asked. She had a lot of anger that she needed to work through because her stupid husband had managed to piss her off. Beating up someone else would make her feel so much better.
For the third time in one night, Scarlet had the crowd going wild and the number of sudden bets being placed suddenly went up.
"Do it." Someone told the hosts.
They followed orders always, never veering from what the owners of the fight wanted.
One of the hosts raised his hand and asked loudly, "Who is ready to watch a fight?"
The crowd roared in response and they stomped their feet in unison. After the feet, they thumped their chests like cavemen heading to war and roared.
Two holograms in different corners lit up and the two players were revealed. "In the corner of the challenged we have number two hundred, Doma the crusher with three hundred fifteen battles under his belt, piloted by Captain Chin.
In the corner of the challenger we have a newcomer who is just debuting. It’s the dark hound, piloted by the hound."
The stats of both mechas were shared on holograms, how many battles they had each fought and lost. Doma had around three pages full while dark hound had zero but that was okay.
Doma the crusher came down as well. He was a giant behemoth whose green body towered over Dark hound. His arms were the size of space ships. His head was round and he had two big oval shaped eyes. Doma resembled a gigantic insect without wings. Most notable about the mecha besides it size was the long scar running from his eye to his arm. Something had sliced him at one time.
"Reveal your weapons." The host said.
Doma revealed two swords; blades so tall and big that it seemed as if they could slice through an entire building in one go.
Dark hound revealed one single scythe, medium in size and smaller in comparison to Doma’s massive weapon.
"Uhm...that was anti climatic." One of the hosts said and the crowd laughed. It was true that they had been expecting something grander to match the confidence of the hound. The small scythe was rather surprising. To them, that little weapon would not do any harm to Doma.
"Commence the battle." The other host said.
All shields were lowered to keep the blasts and within the fighting field. Screens were lowered and tensions rose. Those who bet against the hound could not wait to collect their winnings while those who bet on her could not wait to do the same. Alice the sweetest was among the few who bet on her.
Dark hound moved like a panther, lowering her body to the ground as if she was about to hunt. Doma lunged, fists aiming for Dark hound’s head. His intention was to smash her to bits where she was crouched. Dark hound was faster, moving away like the wind itself and evading Doma’s fists.
Her speed alone was enough to catch the eyes of a few sharp witted fighters that were watching the fight.
Doma turned around and swung his sword downwards but Dark hound caught it with two hands and pushed it into the ground. Little sparks flew as the sword scrapped against the ground. The sword somehow managed to get stuck in the ground and Doma lost focus.
Dark hound yelled and leaped up, kicking Doma in the chest with her legs. The mecha was pushed back, and forced to separate from his sword. As the mecha staggered in shock, and rushed to take out his second sword, Dark hound’s scythe managed to slice off one of the mecha’s arms.
The crowd gasped in shock. The little scythe they looked down on had just sliced off the arm of an entire mecha. It seemed Dark hound was not as gullible as they thought.
A reporter in the crowd who had no interest in covering division one fights suddenly decided to look up the so called legends of the hound in division one. Perhaps there would be something to write about tomorrow.
Inside of Doma, Captain Chin clenched his jaw and irrational anger overtook him.
"Surrender," Scarlet told him.
Captain Chin gritted his teeth, and activated the energy of his sword. It glowed red like fire and radiated a strong heat.
Scarlet waved her hands, an action which was mimicked by her mecha, Dark hound.
"Ouuh, scary." She said, mocking her opponent.
Doma waved the sword and the heat from the sword literally hit her mecha like a canon blast. She turned around before the blast or sword could land on her and she used her wings to fend off the blast. Even the sword was stopped by her wings, another move which surprised the crowd.
She dashed away, and Doma followed, thinking that perhaps he had her cornered. Suddenly Scarlet came to a standstill and turned back with a smirk on her metallic face.
