Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife -
Chapter 534: Bad things.
Chapter 534: Bad things.
Two days of some peace and quiet was what Scarlet managed to get for herself. During those two days, Esong spent all his time in the Blue city, not even returning home to sleep.
Justin was on his best behavior and he begged her to allow his sleep with Gregor. The office as well, was relaxed, which surprised Fey. No officials or ministers came looking for Scarlet to solve their problems. It was a great miracle.
Scarlet spent the peaceful days between Nordem and cultivating. If she wasn’t doing that, she was training herself to pilot a version of Mega X1 which she had asked Carolyn to modify. Her goal of becoming crowned queen of mecha fights had not been abandoned. It helped that she no longer vomited each time she stepped foot inside a mecha.
She also trained her new level six soul strength which came easy because she successfully transformed her soul into a pure one.
Maddox had been right, being a pure soul was quite different from being a strong soul. A pure soul could harness the energy of the universe easily. Soul cultivation was as simple as breathing for her now.
She could feel every soul on her world, alive or dead. At this point, she didn’t need a hound to come with a scroll or read the name of the human whose time was up. She could feel the dying souls for herself.
She cut off that feeling of course, for it was an overwhelming one she didn’t want to feel every time.
She was currently cultivating inside her office in the governor’s building in London. Despite all of the attractions of The Citadel, she had no plans to dwell there on a daily. The city was a magnet for trouble, deity wise, and she didn’t need trouble.
The banshee flew into her office through the open window.
"Sister, I found it." she said loudly.
Her shout broke Scarlet’s concentration and she opened her eyes. She was floating in the air, with her legs crossed and her arms in her laps. On seeing the banshee, she lowered her body onto a couch and wiped the few speckles of sweat that had formed on her forehead.
She reached a hand out and a cup of milk sitting on the table flew to her. Carefully, she blew some air into the cup and fresh steam rose from it. Slowly, she took a sip of the white milk which Lythia provided on a daily basis now.
She had been weaned off off of the hell fruits because they were not necessary anymore according to the midwife. The milk and red goo had replaced the fruits.
"Sister, your new powers are so cool." The banshee, hovered around her head and said cheerfully.
Scarlet smiled and held her tongue for a few seconds to keep herself from bragging. But she concurred with the banshee, her new powers were really cool. As a new high level reaper, she could see why they behaved the way they did.
"Tell me what you found out?" she said.
"Yes, sister, it’s about that reaper traitor, Ramslin." She said.
Scarlet’s brows raised just like her interest in the news the banshee had to share. She had asked the banshee to abandon every other task and give all of it’s attention to Ramslin after Tridon’s cryptic remarks. The banshee had practically moved into Ramslin’s human house at this point because she heard not seen or heard from it since then. It looks like their patient wait had finally paid off.
Even Severus and Flan who had been doing some cultivation of their own in silence twitched their ears to listen.
"Go on." Scarlet told the banshee.
The banshee nodded eagerly. "Sister, he got visitors just like you."
"Visitors," she said.
There was surprise in her voice. Did this mean other reapers paid a visit to the Blue star and she was not aware?
"Do you mean grim reapers?" she asked.
The banshee shook her head but she also nodded, which confused Scarlet very much. Was it yes or no?
"Explain properly." She told the banshee.
The banshee raised her fingers and counted to the third one. "Three visitors, two like you but one not like you. That one had white wings with red tips, it was a life angel."
"Life angel."
"Life angel."
Three voices said that part, all at the same time. They belonged to the banshee, Severus and Flan. The three went ahead to look at each other and then at Scarlet.
Worried, Severus looked at Scarlet and waited to hear her insight on what to him was a very big deal.
Flan, on the other hand went in full panic mode, rotating around as if she was chasing her tail.
"This is not good, it’s not good at all. Grim reapers and life angels should not be cavorting. This is how the war almost started one hundred years ago, it was because a grim reaper and a life angel were involved."
She howled twice and teleported away. Then suddenly teleported back again.
"Calm down Flan." Scarlet told her.
"Yeah, calm down." Severus added.
The banshee played around with a string of her hair thoughtfully and shook her head. Something the female hound said did not sit right with her. "I thought that the cause of that war was that a grim reaper and a life angel fell in love. Those two did not appear to be in love."
Scarlet waved her hands around widely, "All of you, stop talking for a few seconds so that we can add up what we have."
Severus and the banshee kept quiet and focused their eyes on her but Flan was very different.
The hound was spinning and jumping to conclusions. "He has been corrupted, bad things happen when reapers are corrupted."
"That is a very big accusation to make Flan, seriously, calm down." Scarlet yelled.
She raised her voice without meaning to but she needed Flan to pause her crazy thoughts for a few minutes. They did not even know what had been discussed.
If accusations were thrown around carelessly, Ramslin would not be the only victim. Scarlet too would be affected because she would have to reveal her sources. The other reapers would not be pleased to learn that she was spying on one their kind.
They could look the other way if Ramslin was guilty but if he was innocent, things would be quite awkward for everyone.
There was a knock on her door and everyone looked at it at the same time.
"Alex who is there?"
"You have some visitors governor." The AI answered.
"Identify." she instructed.
If it was not important, she wouldn’t open the door.
"General Sang Soon, Inspector Ian Mosby, director Davis Moss...."
General Sang was all she needed to hear to know that the time had come for that enquiry into how she handled the matter of the boy who pricked the women. She had been waiting for it for a while now.
She turned to the hounds and sent them to the corner.
"No commotion, we will deal with this later. Banshee, return and keep an eye on Ramslin until I send for you."
