Chapter 524: Smoke and cigars.

Above the rainy clouds, five deities were overlooking the humans that held their fellow being in so much reverence with amusement. One would think the emperor was a god among men.

"Look at them." The goddess of love said. "So much love within them."

"Yeah, a lot more than usual thanks to you." Carnelia bit at her.

She was influencing the humans, overly expanding their emotions. How many humans had fainted so far? Close to a hundred or so. It was if they were high on a drug called overwhelming love.

"Cut it back." Carnelia told her.

The other gods here didn’t care about what was happening. They were simply here to keep a close watch on Scarlet. Others like Tridon were here to bother her while the old deity was there to take another look at Esong because he had come to the conclusion that Esong had to be a physical human form of Nyx.

If it was the case, he had to be dragged back to the underworld with his consent or lack of. He would not get an opinion on the matter and neither would Scarlet.

Down below, Severus, Flan, Scarlet and the other reapers looked up because they could sense the presence of the deities.

"Did you invite them?" a tired Severus asked Scarlet.

He was tired of the deities. Just as the humans said, too much of anything was always bad. It was no different from the deities. Too much of them was always bad. The best example was the hysterical crowd.

It was not even hot but people were fanning themselves as if the two suns were shining strongly. It was raining but the weather was warm. What was normal about this situation?

"No." she said strongly.

She didn’t invite them here, not on Justin’s birthday. She didn’t need any fragile egos being hurt and then someone would snap a finger and sink another city which would cost her hundreds of billions. She was not made of money contrary to popular belief.

The sound of a roar was sounded and the crowd quieted. The emperor was about to give his grand speech. Scarlet went ahead to surrender the very large scissors which were supposed to cut a red ribbon. With the emperor in their midst, it only made sense if he did the honors.

The city was opened by the emperor amidst the overly loud cheering and hysteria in the crowd which had to be controlled with some serious security measures. After the opening of the speech and a couple of speeches, the royals left first and the governors and nobles followed.

All the guests went to the castle and officially, Justin’s birthday started. There was a lot of noise in the castle, particularly the loud excited screaming of young children. Most of the excitement was because now the city was open, it was all connected to the virtual network immediately.

The castle network was connected to two games Scarlet designed. One was based off of the movie how to train your dragon and another was a medieval castle game which involved battles that ended with a rescued princess.

The castle was littered with holograms of lifelike animated dragons, knights, and adventures. As long as one had their helmet on, they could communicate with the holograms, take part in quests and literally live in another world.

Scarlet was particularly proud of her ideas that went into this city. And she was loving watching Justin enjoying himself in the bouncing castle.

"You sure do know how to throw a party." someone approached her and said.

She looked to the side and saw governor Lancaster. He had cut off his hair and he was sporting a short buzz cut. His ears were also pierced now and he was wearing small black diamond hoops.

"Thank you." she answered with a smile. "What’s with the new look?"

Lancaster laughed and touched his head. "Believe it or not, it was not a choice." He turned to her in puzzlement and said, "Wait, how do you not know what has been happening on the grey star lately?"

"I have been training, resting, and taking care of myself." she answered.

He scoffed as if he didn’t believe her.

"For real. I needed to take a very break and think about the next direction of the Blue star and my position. Someday in future I will have a take a break from governorship so I am considering replacements."

After the children came, she planned to take off a year or two and raise them well. With all the investments she had made, she could spend the rest of her life unemployed and never need for anything.

"So, what’s up with your planet?"

Lancaster tapped his hologram and showed her footage of a swarm of small insects that was everywhere.

"They always come before the rains start and leave with it. We call them rain flies. They like nesting in long hair and they bite. Usually all of our citizens cut their hair off during such a time. Most women keep their shields on the whole time." he explained.

"Please tell me you did not bring bugs to my planet." she groaned and took a small step away from him. She looked at him suspiciously as if he was hiding an entire nest of those rain flies in his clothes.

"Oh come on." he said in a whiny voice. "Your brother Adler made sure that my space ship landed miles away from the space port.

My crew and I were transported to a hotel where we had to take two baths. One in that nasty smelling stuff mecha warriors use on the sky station. Then-and only then, did he let us walk around freely."

Scarlet chuckled at his plight or what sounded like it. The defense minister was surely doing his job excellently, He was keeping out all threats, big and small.

She couldn’t imagine living in an environment filled with those things. Didn’t they go up people’s nostrils? How did they even sleep at night?

"So, what’s your plan to deal with the rain flies? They are bugs so kill them."

"How?" he asked her. "It’s not like we can hire mecha warriors to slice them apart or ask the RGB to shoot them. We don’t even where they come from."

He grimaced as he thought about the little flies which had stopped all tourism on his planet. If she ha a solution, he wanted it. He would pay goo money for it.

"Smoke ’em.." she said.

She put two fingers to her mouth as if she was smoking and blew air out as if she was blowing cigar smoke.

"Huh!"

Lancaster was more than confused. What was she doing and what did she mean?

"What is?" he said and copied her actions.

Right, she recalled, people here didn’t smoke. She had a few cartons of cigarettes in her storage space which she never bothered to take out. Now that she thought about it, should she take them out or not?
