Chapter 517: Out of hiding

It was annoying that he left without giving her any answers but she had other things to do besides standing by and worrying. Perhaps the banshee which occasionally kept an eye on Ramslin had managed to see something.

She teleported back to the castle in The Citadel where she and the every member of the family had been living during the duration of their duration of hiding away.

It was surprising that the reporters had not figured out where they were.

The castle in The Citadel was the tallest building building in the city. Both the outside and inside were built and designed basing off of the image of a cathedral. Scarlet had hidden a few energy crystals in different spots on the inside to give it this cool, spiritual feeling just as she did in the temples.

Being in this castle made one relaxed and happy, which had been her goal of course. She had even ensured that a small church was attached to the castle which was where she had been doing her soul cultivation from in private.

"We have been looking for you everywhere." Her mother’s voice came from the entrance leading to the small church.

She turned around automatically and looked at her mother. Her face was neutral and her eyes calm as if she had no idea why they would be searching for her.

"I knew you would be in here meditating but now is not the time for this. I told the others you were here because I heard the ’om’ sounds and they thought I was hearing things..."

"Mother, you are diverting." Scarlet said.

Mega scratched her head in embarrassment. She sometimes jumped from one topic to another without ending the first one. Quickly, she organized her thoughts to get back on track.

"Right, there was a flood like an hour or two ago. The senior citizens city practically drowned, these huge beasts came out of the water and....."

Walking to the entrance, Scarlet told her mother, "Then we should be walking instead of talking. I need to meet those in charge and put out a statement."

And she was right because Esong was currently handling this for her. He was in London, in the house of ministers trying to calm down frantic officials.

Even though he was doing his best, they stared at him as if he was an imposter and not the governor. They really had no confidence in him.

His hearing was sharp and he heard minister Maurey whispering to Blad, "This would be so much easier to handle if governor Scarlet was here."

"I can’t reach her." Blad answered. "Why can’t he just share her location with us?" He added in a disgruntled tone.

Esong put his hands together and sighed loudly. Yeah well, he wanted her here as well but he could not force her to come out if she did not wish.

He would also rather be out there fighting the monstrous sea creatures than here listening to a bunch of grown ups bicker over issues and provide zero solutions.

Having reporters there did not make it any better. All they were doing was yelling questions

Esong looked at his son who was cuddled up in the corner with his grandparents surrounded by guards. Perhaps, he thought, bringing Justin along had been a bad idea. All this commotion was bound to make the little one uncomfortable.

"The governor is here." Someone announced.

Many eyes in the room turned and they saw Scarlet strolling in confidently, followed by two dogs and surrounded by her guards on both sides.

"Oh finally!" someone said, loudly.

This sentiment was shared by many others in the room, including the reporters who started rolling immediately so as to give the Blue star citizens a first look at their governor. She was finally out of hiding.

Even Justin was excited to see her as if he was one of the citizens that had not seen her for a week.

"Mommy, here, Justin is here." he called and waved. He was moving around between his grandparents like a little worm looking for freedom as it was held in a tight enclosure.

Scarlet’s eyes of course went to her baby first and she waved back at him.

"Shh, your mommy has to work." Cecily held him back, stopping him from leaping forward and throwing himself into his mother’s arms.

Scarlet meanwhile was escorted to her seat, but she and Esong shared a brief hug first.

"Thank the gods that you are finally here," He whispered to her.

"Thank you for the holding down the fort." she whispered back.

He let go of her, looked at the crowd and existed the house of ministers quickly through a backdoor. The governor they wanted was here, he could finally go and supervise clean up duty.

The entire city had to dredged and investigations needed to be carried out to find out how a flood had caused such strong buildings to collapse. They needed to know how and where those beasts had come from.

Scarlet wasted no time going into governor mode. "Thank you all for being here, I apologize for running late but I am here now. Firstly, please organize yourselves and stop shouting or this session will be cancelled."

She had no smiles for them, only a serious aura, nothing like her usual warmth.

The ministers, officers and reporters did as she instructed immediately.

At the front in his booth where he addressed the house from as the speaker, Blad could not hold back the small smile which formed on his lips. General Esong had yelled order many times and told them to calm down but they didn’t. She said the same thing in more words and they did immediately. Just as expected, she was the true head of the Blue star.

"Let’s begin." she said, in a cold voice.

Blad cleared his throat and opened his mouth. "Without wasting time, I will mention to our honorable governor all the issues which have been raised so far, starting from the most urgent."

Scarlet raised her hand, palm facing outwards and Blad stopped talking.

All eyes turned to her and they waited. Some of the officials held their breath and others got nervous. It was plain to see the authority she wielded over them even when she hardly said a word.

In the corner, Cecily and Etienne shared a look. She was impressed with Scarlet’s dominance while he likened her to the empress.

"Minister Cretin." she said in a low voice.

It was transmitted through the room via an active microphone on the armrest of her chair.

"I am here governor." a voice said.

A sandy brown haired young man stood up, looked around awkwardly and faced her.

"You were appointed as the new minister of fisheries for the Blue star two months ago. Right now the shores of lake Tata are flooding with fish as we speak. Fish which can be salvaged and eaten and yet you are not coordinating anything related to your job. Instead, you are sitting here, waiting for me to do it for you apparently. Do you understand the scope of your work or do I need to appoint someone more capable?"
