Chapter 516: The aftermath.
"Soooo, is she threatening us or blackmailing us?" Carnelia asked Lythia.
"A little bit of both." Lythia answered.
She brought out a jar of wine, two glasses and a bowl for Ruby.
"Well, let’s drink as we wait for him to show up. The news about Tridon’s little trip must have made it’s way to his ears by now and he will be impatient to return."
Lythia was speaking of the old deity. News in their realms travelled faster than wind.
"So which one of us is going to tell him about Scarlet’s request or threat?" Carnelia asked Lythia.
Both deities looked at Ruby and smiled cunningly.
"Thank you so much for volunteering." Carnelia told the hound.
On the Blue star, just as Flan said, thanks to Tridon mostly, a whole mess was waiting for her. That darn deity had flooded the entire senior citizens retirement city which she had been planning to name Florida.
Most of the buildings had collapsed and so had the bridges. The palm trees were floating on water, the few hundred workers or more who had been inside the city were being rescued by fire fighters and mecha warriors were fending off sharks, alligators and all sorts of dangerous sea creatures which Tridon had seen fit to dump into the lake.
Sharks didn’t even live in lakes for heavens sake. Not according to her knowledge anyway. What was Tridon thinking?
A lot of fish had been dumped by the lake shore and it made her sigh. What a loss!!! It was painful to see because of all the crystals which had gone into buying them.
She looked up and noticed the spaceships and flying cars that were providing light to those who were working on the search and rescue team. They were very loud, it was amazing that anyone could hear the other over the ruckus.
To make this worse, it was drizzling. The rain had finally decided that it was the right moment to start falling.
Where would she start from at this point?
She circulated her energy and started pulling the humans in the water out. To the humans it seemed as if the strong wind was doing this job.
The problem was that if someone didn’t get to the humans fast enough on land, the sea creatures which had made it to the shore like the alligators were waiting to chomp on them.
She looked at her hands and thought maybe it was time to suck the energy out of all the creatures.
"Maybe just try commanding the water creatures to return to the water. Or do what you are thinking, use your flames, I want to see them in action."
A voice coming from next to her suddenly suggested.
When she tilted her head to the left and upwards, she saw the water god. She had no reason to fear him now so she stayed right where she was.
She intended to stay true to her words, no more running like a coward.
She turned her head back to the busy scene in the now destroyed Florida. Billions, she thought, billions of star coins all gone to waste just like that and the culprit looked unbothered.
"Whatever you want, my answer is no." she said coldly.
Tridon was surprised that she was not running away to call on her white knights for help.
"Who says I want something little reaper?"
"All the gods want something, always." she answered.
"A grim reaper who doesn’t trust the gods. Now this is interesting because you were quite inclined to hide behind my fiery sister just a while back."
"Yeah well, things change." she replied.
A very large space ship arrived at that moment and the smaller ships and flying cars got out of the way. The bottom part of the ship opened, and a large metal platform was lowered slowly.
It was being controlled by eight mecha warriors with their mental strength. On the platform were a bunch of fishing boats which were lowered and slid onto the water.
On one of the boats, she noticed her sister and Markay.
"Let’s use these." Carolyn’s shouted.
Scarlet was not sure if the boats could withstand the force of all the sharks in the water.
They were circling around the boats eagerly as if fresh blood had been poured into it.
She took a deep breath and yelled, "Everything that does not live on land, please go back to the water and don’t you dare eat any humans. Sleep at the bottom of the lake until I transfer you to better homes."
She had no plans to kill the sharks, alligators, sea snakes, whales and anything else Tridon had brought to the Sun star.
In a way, he had expanded the marine life of this world and saved her some crystals.
She thought the sea god was playing with her when he told her to tell the creatures to leave. Unexpectedly, she noticed the sea creatures turning back and heading into the lake without creating a fuss.
"Huh!" a small surprised sound escaped her lips.
"I will be damned, they are actually following your instructions. I guess I was right." Tridon mumbled.
Mecha warriors with quick hands were scooping up what they could grab and putting them in pods.
"Why are they following my instructions?" she asked Tridon.
"A conversation for another day little reaper." he answered.
She looked at the sea god with contemplation in her eyes. He seemed to have plans of returning again.
"You still won’t get anything from me. We both know that your so called love interest in me is fake. You asked about my flame when you showed yourself. The other gods are judging your actions based off your past but I have no past with you. I only know what is present and what I can see."
Tridon couldn’t deny what she said for it was the truth. She knew how to read the situation just right.
"What did you mean when you said that Ramslin was a danger to me?"
The water god smiled and Scarlet noticed two of his upper teeth. They were sharp, like those of a canine.
"Or a vampire." a random thought crossed her mind.
She took a step away from him and covered her neck with her hands.
"Wait a minute, I am not human." she recalled. "And he is no vampire." She looked at Tridon and tried to peek at his teeth again.
They were sharper than before, and longer.
"Oh!" she gasped. "Although, a good number of sea creatures have sharp teeth like that. It should not be so shocking that their lord has the same dental structure."
The random thoughts about his teeth distracted her from the question she had asked.
Tridon meanwhile chuckled and buried his face in his hands. The little grim reaper was funny. Is that why his sisters liked her?
Scarlet shook her head, "Oy, back to the issue. What did you mean?"
Tridon shook his head and laughed loudly.
"There is no fun in telling you about his secret. However, if you are willing to work with me to dig into the secrets of your flame, I will be willing to stand with you the day the skies are torn.
When you are ready to talk, communicate with the water and I will hear you."
He faded into the wind like a mist when the sun started to rise.
"I will see you around little reaper."
