Scarlet’s hands moved to her stomach as her protective instincts kicked in. Her eyes moved around the room in search of foreign energy.

She examined every speck of dust and every gust of wind. If it was one of the underworld deities, she would know.

They didn’t do things this way and they always announced themselves somehow to let her know of their presence. It was not one of them, she could tell.

She heard a creaking and then the pipes in the house of the dead widow burst.

"Reveal yourself." she said tentatively.

No sound was made, except for the water which had practically exploded.

She could not tell if she had scared herself or a deity was here to play mind games.

Perhaps, it was the god of deceit, here to try and trick her again for some reason. Or maybe it was the god of life. But if it was him, the god of death would have appeared already guns blazing to defend her.

Scarlet didn’t want to stay in this house anymore. She didn’t want to play these games at all.

"Let’s go and get the souls first." she told the hounds.

They teleported out of the house immediately but the harpy remained behind. She saw a trident forming on the wall as the water died down.

"Tridon!" she gasped.

The water god was here, and he had just revealed himself to Scarlet even though she didn’t understand.

Immediately, she teleported to the underworld. Carnelia needed to be told about this.

Quite uneasy, Scarlet and the hounds went to the scene of the accident. What they found was a mess, confused souls and crowds of humans at the top of a very tall building.

Part of a sparkling billboard had fallen down and it was sitting on top of a flying bus.

"Romiwa entertainment." it read.

RGB officers were pulling the billboard off the bus. Scarlet could hear high pitched screams of fear coming from inside the bus.

Two flying cars that had been turned into wrecks were also being ripped apart.

At least five corpses, were covered up. More were probably inside the vehicles.

Flying news drones were circling the air, capturing the entire scene as reporters hovered around in their flying cars like vultures waiting to feast on dead prey.

"What happened here?" she asked herself.

"An accident." Flan answered.

The hound wondered if Scarlet had been listening the first time she said this.

"No I mean the cause of the accident." she specified.

It was no small accident, from all appearances it was a major one.

Scarlet waved touched one of the souls and took a peek at her last memories.

She had been in a flying car that was over speeding, chasing down s celebrity. The celebrities car crushed into the bus and her car crushed into that of the celebrity. The bus spun around and crushed into the billboard.

"No wonder there is a crowd and reporters, someone famous has died." Severus who shared her view and watched the last memories of the soul with her said.

"They could be alive." Scarlet said.

"Alyssa Cano Fifty three years old. Day of death thirteenth in the second month of the new cycle, which is today, Time of death eight-thirty which was ten minutes ago." Flan read.

Flan was the soul pet who received Alyssa’s information. She was also the one who informed Scarlet about the accident.

"It’s her." Flan declared. "Now let’s take her before the evil souls or soul eaters get here."

Scarlet looked around for Alyssa’s soul, floating in the air as she gathered up other roaming souls around. Souls of famous people were attractive to soul eaters.

They were not as good as pure souls but they were attractive enough since they held faith power. It was the power of belief collected from their fans and worshipers.

In a way, famous people were like human gods and their souls had some strength, like an energy boost.

Hopefully, Alyssa had not been eaten yet.

Scarlet sensed another reaper and she looked up. Ramslin had just arrived.

As shameless as he was, he had a smile on his face.

"Friend, fancy seeing you here."

He acted as if he had not failed her in the small world competition by not allying as he proposed.

Not that Scarlet cared because she had taken the ultimate prize which she was still cultivating. Her souls strength had grown and she was a level five reaper now.

When the energy of the pearl was drained, her soul would be transformed into a pure one. Severus even said she might become a level eight reaper instantly when it happened.

"You and I have very different meanings of the word friend." she told him.

He chuckled and Severus growled.

Ramslin pointed to the hound and raised his hands defensively.

"Your hound told me in very specific words that it would tear me to pieces if I came close to you since my intentions are less than honorable so I figured that I should stay away for my own protection."

"Right." Scarlet answered sarcastically.

Ramslin took and deep breath and sighed sadly.

"You don’t believe me."

Scarlet barely glanced at him before a sneer formed on her face. Of course she didn’t believe him, she had been warned not to trust anyone.

Even before that warning came, she didn’t trust the weaseling bastard.

"Has your hound told you the truth about why I want to be around you?" he asked.

"Go away," she said in an irritated voice.

He chuckled and shook his head. "Sorry baby, I am going nowhere."

Disgust creeped up on her when he referred to her as baby and she blasted him with a sharp wind energy. He went flying away but of course, he teleported and returned.

"You won’t get rid of me that easily." he told her.

Scarlet stopped floating and she stood still in the air. Her mouth twisted from side to side as great rage filled her body.

"Just finish him off." A voice in her mind said. "I know you have a special flame. I saw you using it, you were not as careful as you thought back in the small world.

Just suck him dry and take his power for yourself. I want to see how it works and he is not worth keeping alive.

Surely, you must know that his being around will bring you danger someday. He cannot be trusted, heed my words and finish him."
