Transmigrating from a zombie world to become the mecha kings wife -
Chapter 510: MIA
Chapter 510: MIA
An entire week went by like this. Reporters were running around like headless chicken but the governing couple was nowhere to be seen. It was not just them, most members of the Su and Wu family were MIA. Even Justin’s shadow had not been seen close to the walls of the school. It was if they had all dropped off the surface of the earth.
The Blue star went into lockdown mode with extra security at all space ports and all tourism related activities were brought to a halt. Most of them were coming over because they wanted to stock up on food.
The farms were protected heavily by armed mecha warriors and RGB officers.
On star net, all talk of Scarlet’s strength and what not died down and instead, it was replaced with different topics all under the influence of the empress of course.
[#Please return lady governor, we are starving. ]
[#Lesson learned. ]
[#I will not waste food.]
[#I had forgotten the taste of the old nutrient solutions]
In a surprising turn of events, a particularly unlikely topic was trending as well.
[# I bet Severus is not starving.]
Speculation was rampant about where the couple had disappeared off to and the strongest suspicion was the eco resort on the grey star. But no matter how much they searched every corner of the resort, the couple was nowhere to be seen.
In the meantime, the food supplies in the market depleted, prices went up, the black market thrived and citizens were forced to stock up on nutrient solutions.
The situation on the Blue star and Grey star was a little better than other places. The capital seemed to have it much worse than other planets.
Many attributed the situation in the capital to scholar Obley and his rude remarks in that interview. It was thought that Scarlet was taking revenge on everyone because of him. The nobles were incensed.
Many of them had to cancel their events because the food supply was insufficient and they desperately wanted an end to it.
The news continued to circulate, different articles speculating on the situation, especially the reason why the emperor was quiet on the matter as well.
In fact he was another individual that had been missing in action for a week and the empress was presiding over the house of ministers.
Everyone knew that they could whine to the friendly emperor but not the cold empress so they swallowed their dissatisfaction and spoke ill of her in the privacy of their houses.
Minister Godiver for one gathered a few other ministers at his house. They sat around a table with glasses of rice wine and clay pot pork and rice.
He was one of the wealthiest nobles in the empire and he had stocked up on food using all means possible. Feeding six extra mouths in a time of scarcity was not a big deal. His table was rather well stocked and bright.
"We cannot get to the emperor as long as the empress is running interference. That cold bitch will not allow us to take advantage of the situation." Minister Rumley said.
He was a recent addition to their faction.
"We are running out of food and my restaurant business on the Blue star has died down. I am bleeding money every day. I need solutions, we need solutions." Minister Godiver told the others.
"Why don’t we commandeer the seeds and plant food on our lands. There must be a law giving us that right."
"The seeds belong to her. Those that belong to the royal family were named on the agricultural research page. Of what use are cola fruits, walnuts, garlic, coconuts and other small things like that to us?" Anther minister said.
Minister Godiver nodded wholeheartedly.
"Rice is a key food. It can be used to bargain with other empires for benefits. We need grains, flour, sugar, beef, chicken and all those things."
"Don’t forget the fruits." Minister Carlzon added. "The fruits make this wine and keep the nutrient solution businesses going."
Minister Godiver stood up and looked at a large painting of a castle on his wall. It was his intention to build this castle on the Blue star for his family.
If only that uptight Scarlet followed the rules of nobility like everyone else.
"We need the emperor to come out and force her to end this ridiculous ban and open the Blue star for business and tourism. She should also follow the law which gives nobles first pick at their choice of living on any star planet." Minister Rumley said.
"Maybe that young scholar Obley should apologize?" One of the ministers suggested. "If we rebuke him publicly, come out and show our support for her then she will be in the negative light for rejecting our goodwill."
Minister Godiver sat back down and looked at the others attentively.
"Why don’t we arrange a few destructive riots. The emperor will not stay quiet if the commoners are making a fuss in the streets."
As the ministers plotted, a banshee watched them and recorded their entire conversation.
A little crow kept the banshee company. walking all over her head playfully.
"Blackie, don’t make my hair ugly." she told the crow.
She didn’t want to be distracted. This was an important mission sister had given her.
What the ministers did not know was that the same Scarlet they were searching for and plotting against was in the capital waiting to reap a soul.
She was there for the soul of a woman whose husband she had only reaped a month back. The widow had chosen to take her own life by drinking poison while she was alone in her house. Two hundred twenty years on earth without the love of her life was too much for her endure apparently.
Scarlet had been tempted to save the widow’s life but Severus had said her time was up. She was not meant to be saved.
So now, Scarlet was holding the hand of the widow, and waiting for her to take her last breath which would be soon as the light in her eyes died out slowly.
Severus and Flan were on stand by waiting with her.
"How pitiful." she said, as she put the soul away.
"Do you still pity dead humans?" Severus asked her.
"A little bit, but it’s mostly those who die like this. The natural ones I am good with. This one, she was alone and sad. It’s a pitiful way to go."
Since the couple had no children, Scarlet knew that it would take a while for her to be found so she triggered a call to the RGB using the woman’s terminal.
The officers would be by to check even though nothing was said, they were obligated to.
"Don’t rest yet, there is another one, a fresh one." Flan told her.
"Cause of death?" she asked.
"A car crush." Flan informed her. "Wait, it’s more than one."
Severus sniffed the air suddenly and growled just before they could teleport away.
Flan backed him up and she growled, putting herself in in front of Scarlet. Outside the window, the wind picked up speed and a bird screeched.
Lanta was somewhere close, apparently.
"I smell deity." Severus said, and he growled again.
