Chapter 495: Perfectly harmless woman.
After calming Severus and Flan down, she excused herself, poured some milk into two large bowls and and placed two meatball sandwiches on side plates for them.
"Both of you come over here and eat. Try to be normal for fucks sake, I want these people out of here and gone as quickly as possible."
Then loudly, for the humans sake, she said loudly, "Severus, Flan, food."
Both hounds did as she said, and walked over although they did so reluctantly. There was action out there, they would have preferred it over the food for now.
Two of the RGB officers had come from the capital and they were blown away to see how extravagantly she fed her dogs. It also amused them to see the dogs acting as if being told to eat was the worst punishment in the universe.
One of the officers, an RGB inspector who was ranked above captain Zorl licked his lips with a jealous look on his face. He thought to himself that if the dogs did not want to eat, he would be perfectly happy to step in and assist them.
"Again, sorry about my dogs, like I said, they are very hungry." she told the officers.
Not in my opinion, the inspector thought. Severus in particular was still acting the window as he ate. How was that the depiction of very hungry?
"It’s not an issue governor Scarlet. We were frightened for a minute when they started barking crazily but then they calmed down at your instructions. It’s really amazing to see in person how well behaved they are." The female officer answered.
"I was not frightened officer Lacan, speak for yourself." captain Zorl mentioned as a by the way.
"Wow, how brave you are." Scarlet said. The sarcasm in her voice could not be missed.
Captain Zorl shrugged. He was unbothered, totally unbothered.
She could not help noticing that the man’s usual cold demeanor was a bit warmer today. It was probably the influence of his new roommate.
"Uhm, Inspector Jam, if you don’t mind I would like to request that we get this meeting moving because I have to attend the opening of the new branch of Life line company and then then fly across the lake to officially open the older citizens retirement city."
She was a busy woman.
"Are you really allowing life line to open a branch here? The optics associated with them are not necessarily the best. It’s not a good look for a budding planet." Officer Lacan winced and shook her head.
Scarlet scoffed and then laughed. "All business is good business for the Blue star, unless it’s illegal, then I don’t welcome it. I may find what Life line company does unsavory but they paid us ten billion star coins for land and they will be paying twenty million star coins in taxes every month."
Life line was a company which sold everything related to sex. They threw the wildest parties, owned the most perverted pleasure houses, sold the highest number of sex toys and sex companions. They also had the most frequented adult entertainment websites in the Sun star.
It was also owned by a noble, a duke at that and Scarlet had it on good authority that the royal family had shares in the company. They inherited them from the former emperor who also inherited them.
Who was she to turn down what the royal family secretly invested in. The company was a gold mine, a legal gold mine.
"We will keep an eye on them." Captain Zorl told her. He looked at officer Lacan and said, "The governor is right, all business is good for our planet as long as it’s legal."
With more business being opened, the citizens were earning as much as five thousand star coins per month now. The standard of living had increased.
The Blue star was taking shape and on track to catch up with the Green star.
"But we are not here to discuss Life line, we are here because you wanted to discuss the deceased captain Atlas." she said.
"Oh yes, we would like to know why he paid you a visit." The inspector said.
Scarlet shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine Inspector. I was indisposed when he visited my castle. I am sure that all of this information has been relayed to you by my staff."
"Yes, we have heard all this from them but we were wondering if you had more information to share. Apparently he seemed to be focused on finding you for some reason." The inspector told her.
"What can I tell you, I don’t know the man and quite frankly I am glad that I don’t. Have you seen the news and what is being said about him?
I can’t imagine what would have happened if he successfully made it to my private quarters. What would people be saying about me right now?"
She gasped and shook her head, rubbing her arms as if she felt a chill.
Look at me, I am a weak and perfectly helpless woman, her body language said. In reality, if that man had come anywhere close to her, she would have beaten the shit out of him and then refined him.
And if she had known about the way he treated women, she would have given him his own private party with his sex robot butlers and then castrated him.
"He was a lecherous man. Perhaps he should have worked for Life line and not the RGB because this is a stain on your reputable institution." she told the Inspector.
The inspector sighed and Captain Zorl’s face made a grimace.
People were questioning the RGB thanks to all this information about captain Atlas’s private life. Witnesses to it were coming out of the woodworks.
Arrests on his closest associates were underway in order to discover how many women he had sold to space pirates.
"You should change your hiring policies. In fact, look into why a man like him was hired in the first place. Did he really have the skills or did he charm the pants off someone to get the job. Who knows if you have other bad eggs like him in the RGB?"
Someone knocked on her door and it slid open.
"Sorry to interfere but you have received more petitions to block Life line from opening."
They were handwritten petitions and Fey slammed them down on her desk.
Scarlet sighed, picked them up and put them on top of a shredder.
"So, what else can I help you with?" she asked the RGB officers.
The inspector shook his head, and the officers stood up. They looked at her with pity in their eyes. Her job was really as stressful as theirs.
Why did people assume that governors simply sat around and enjoyed their lives while other officers did everything. Just looking at her office which was filled with paperwork, maps, proposals and the blanket which was casually thrown on one of the sofas you could see that she slept here often.
"Thank you for your help." The inspector told her.
"Hang in there." Officer Lacan told her.
Scarlet smiled, and took some pies out of her storage bracelet as she did for most guests that visited her.
