The loud bang which was created as Scarlet’s energy slammed against the barrier caused a ripple on the surface of the water. The ripple was seen by two two sirens on one of the floating islands.

They dived swiftly, hitting the ocean with force as they headed in the direction of the disturbance.

In the underworld, all three deities groaned. So far, they had not watched any other reaper but Scarlet because she was the one they cared about the most.

"Oh crap, it’s sirens." Carnelia said with disgust in her voice.

"I hope she has more of those ball things because it’s going to get ugly." Lythia said.

The old deity pointed to a further corner of the ocean, deep down in it’s darkest shadowy waters. Something was moving down there and whatever it was, it was big.

"So, nine headed serpent or flood dragon, what do we think?" he asked the two goddesses.

"Nine headed serpent." The two said.

The old deity was holding a tiny glass which was filled to the brim with lotus wine. He twirled it around slowly and raised it, as if he was making a toast.

"Well, at least she has a scythe."

If she did come face to face with the nine headed serpent, she would cut off one of it’s heads before it killed her and ended her time in the small water world.

Deep down in the water, Scarlet was not aware that other creatures were heading her way because of the blast she created.

She had successfully managed to create a tear in the barrier and slipped through it quickly. As she was swimming towards the castle ruins, the barrier was sewing itself back together magically.

She released the two hounds when she came face to face with the ruins of what looked like a once enormous structure. No longer that glamorous building, it was an old faded castle draped in seaweed and other greenery that grew deep in the sea where the sun did not shine.

At the entrance leading into the castle were statues of the water god and water warriors prostrating before him. Most of the statues were partially broken,

"Are we inside?" Severus asked her.

"The barrier yes, the ruined castle no." She touched a slanted pillar with fading inscriptions and images of the water god. "But you feel it, right? There is something powerful in here somewhere."

"We should hurry then, first to the prize takes everything." Flan reminded her.

Scarlet swam in the direction of the water god and water warrior statues. That was the path leading into the castle.

She and the hounds approached the entrance carefully. The statues were immobile however some did have weapons in their hands.

From the many movies and books Scarlet had read before she died, such statues were often traps.

"We should probably test the path out first." she suggested,

She had a brilliant idea and immediately accessed her storage space. She had a pod with a few mutated beasts which she had not yet sold off.

She grabbed one by the neck and tossed it out with a lot of strength. It was a baby wind draco which had been left behind. Even though it was still young, it was already as big as an adult cow.

It was pretty drowsy when she threw it out but as soon as it tasted water, it’s senses were quickly activated. It flapped it’s wings in a panic because it could not swim.

Severus opened his mouth and said, "Maybe this one is not..."

He hardly completed his words when one of the statues opened it’s eyes and threw out a very long and sharp three pronged spear.

With a loud squeal, the draco was sent flying to the bottom of the sea.

"So what’s the plan now?" Severus asked her.

Scarlet looked at the pod and counted six warriors.

"I guess I have to sacrifice them all as bait. You two need to get back in the soul gourd" she said.

It would be easier to maneuver the path on her own than with her two hounds. Chances of one of them being injured in the struggle were high.

"She can go, I stay." Severus said. They had come to protect her, not the other way round.

"I have the bead, I am protected." She reminded him.

Severus sighed and said, "Be careful."

In the underworld, Scarlet’s challenge had drawn more eyes from other reapers. Even in other realms of different goals, more than a few eyes were on her.

The old deity looked at Lythia and said, "Ten thousand floating islands and she chose to go underwater. What was she thinking?"

"That she would make her one week count." Lythia told him. "I just don’t think she realizes how much trouble it’s going to be to get to that pearl." Carnelia said in a weak voice.

Every challenge Scarlet faced made her wither. If gods could have heart attacks she would be on her way to one.

Scarlet, was already tossing out every mutated beast in her possession as she swam as fast as she could.

One of the spears scratched her right leg and she winced but she kept going. Between the mutated beasts and the spears being thrown, the danger level was really high.

When she safely made through the entrance, she sagged against the wall and sighed. She was relieved because there was less water inside the ruined castle at least.

She was touching dry ground, which was cold, freezingly cold. Her legs were quickly becoming numb.

"Aww, aww, aww." she jumped up and down.

She got a pair of shoes from her soul gourd and put them on quickly. These were special shoes, designed to increase the speed of the wearer and provide warmth.

She massaged her legs with heat from her green flame until she felt feeling return to her legs.

It was only now that she looked around and saw motionless statues of other creatures and humans, all frozen to death and turned into ice with looks of horror on their faces.

It gave her an unexpected scare and she stepped back, clutching the wall suddenly.

"Shit, I must have been out of my mind to come here." she muttered to herself.

Every corner that she turned, a disaster awaited. Maybe Severus was right and she should have gone to one of the floating islands.

It was too late to regret her decision, she had to keep going forward.

As she cautiously put on a pair of gloves to keep the cold away from her hands, she wondered what else was waiting for her in this palace of doom?
