Chapter 465: I don’t quit

Before she could process those words Lythia grabbed her by the waist and they flew through the air together into the pavilion.

"Well that was fun." Scarlet said when their feet touched down. "Excuse me please."

She turned around, walked with a wobble to the nearest edge of the pavilion, bent down and threw up.

The black flowers in the pond quickly parted, avoiding her vomit like as if it was most vile thing ever.

As she retched her guts out, Lythia prepared some tea for her.

"Still vomiting, huh." Carnelia said with a laugh.

"I have never known a reaper to throw up as much as her. She does it at the simplest of things and the littlest turbulence." Lythia commented.

"Maybe that’s why she is special." Carnelia joked and she laughed to herself.

Deep down, she did not believe herself because the would be a ridiculous thing. What she suspected was that Scarlet’s specialness had a possible connection to Nyx.

What were the odds that both of them somehow ended up in the same world. Well it was not Nyx’s world but he had been there anyway.

Carnelia sighed, bothered by the shroud which was hiding the truth from a powerful deity such as herself. What or who was at work here?

At least one of her harpies had found an answer anyway, however small it was and the mystery would start to unravel.

A heads up would be nice next time." Scarlet said with a grimace on her face as she approached the two deities.

"A reaper that has sickness like yours is rare. Next time we will use a different transportation means." Lythia told her.

"Next time, there is a next time!" Scarlet said. "Don’t you guys ever think that I spend way so much time around you? At this point you might as well give me special powers and declare me a demi god."

She sat down in one of the chairs around the table and took a bottle of water from her storage space.

"No, drink this." Lythia pushed the tea cup towards her instead.

She looked at the contents of the cup. Inside was a white liquid, pale and light like milk.

After looking at it, she looked at Lythia.

The shadow deity sighed sadly. "Until now you mistrust me."

"Don’t be offended, I mistrust all the gods." After saying that, she scooted closer to Lythia and added coquettishly, "But, I would trust you more if you help me get a house in Lonely river."

"You look like the god of deceit right now." Carnelia told Scarlet.

Scarlet recalled the voice of the deity that she had only met once and he tried to trick her.

In no way did she resemble that fraud. Her right hand reached out for the tea cup and slowly, she swirled it around before taking a small careful sip.

"Mmm, it tastes like milk." she said in shock.

Lythia scoffed and a little smile formed on her face. "You seem surprised. I thought it was pretty obvious." she told Scarlet. "But let’s discuss what has brought us here today."

Scarlet put down the cup of milk which was obviously mixed with something else. As always, she could hardly guess what Lythia was feeding her.

This milk, she thought would probably taste better if she had some crumb cake.

"You can’t participate in the games." Carnelia blurted.

The images of crumb cake vanished from Scarlet’s mind and she tilted her head to the left.

"Say what now______?" she asked the fire deity.

"She is phrasing it the wrong way ignore her." Lythia quickly told Scarlet.

Disgruntled, she turned her face to Carnelia and hissed at her. "We agreed that I would do all the talking so let me do this."

"Ahem, someone please just explain this to me quickly." Scarlet jumped in.

She wanted answers and whether they were provided by Carnelia or Lythia it did not matter.

"I am just going to say this now before we go any further, I am not giving up my invitation because I worked hard for it. I gave the duo leaderboard games my all, you all witnessed it."

She explained herself passionately, moving her index finger around randomly.

"You need to think about the children." Carnelia exploded, shouting loudly at Scarlett.

The water in the pond rose up like a wave and fell back down. Little drops splashed into the pavilion, hitting only Scarlet like little metal bullets and yet somehow, they avoided hitting the deities.

Lythia shielded Scarlet after the first three hits to her arm. "Looks like the fairy of the pond did not appreciate you contaminating her waters with your vomit."

Scarlet almost rolled her eyes, disbelief evident in them. "Does everything in this place have life?"

The water bullets did not cause her pain because she had the bead on her but they certainly surprised her.

"Yes." Lythia told her. "Let me explain what Carnelia has so politely and softly failed to make you understand. This years chosen small world is the world of the water god, Tridon.

The biggest rivalries between the major gods are those between death and life, closely followed third by water and fire, light and darkness. But water and death have their disputes as well, just as water and life."

"So you all hate each other, got it." Scarlet jumped in and summarized for Lythia the point she was trying to put across.

"Err, yes." Lythia nodded.

"Not all of us hate each other." Carnelia said. "And hate is such a strong word, it’s more like we can’t stand each other."

"Potato-Potatoe, it’s all the same." Scarlet said.

"Yeah well, wait until you have lived for a million years and then get back to me on how many people you can still stand." Carnelia mumbled.

When one lived for so long, small squabbles were inevitable. Without them it was an eternity of boredom.

"Moving on." Lythia said loudly. "Tridon and Carnelia have some friction. For that reason, the water fairies, creatures, monsters and whatever else is in that world will be aiming for grim reapers.

In the small world it’s usually everyone for themselves even with the existence of alliances and for you in your present condition, just being there is a risk.

Risk of losing your soul cultivation or exposure of your children. All three of us agree that you should not go and it’s rare for us all to agree on something.

So, I have come up with a simpler solution that will draw less attention to you. You can go for the games but you need to get yourself disqualified and leave early. You are smart Scarlet, I believe that you will not come out empty handed but you must come out quickly." She emphasized the quickness and looked at Scarlet with urgency and seriousness.

"Do you understand me?" Lythia asked her.
