Chapter 345: Case closed.

As a mother, Scarlet looked upon Bibi with pity as the woman desperately begged, grasping at her feet as if they were her lifeline.

"Get up." She bent down and urged the woman to stand up, pulling her onto her feet. The little boy, Caleb, who was hanging on to Bibi’s gown tightly was crying very loudly which was quite disturbing as well.

The entire ordeal was a sad but funny tale and large misunderstanding yet it had gripped the attention of everyone on the Blue star. The boy was not sick or dangerous, and sending him to the RGB was certainly not the solution. But then. what exactly was she to do with them?

"Tion," she called.

"Yes governor." He answered.

"Send them back and tell no one about this." She waved her hands dismissively.

The guards, Bibi and Tony were all taken aback by her words. Was it over just like that? Did the governor have a weakness for tears? Budding darkness could not be dismissed just like that.

Even Severus was quite perplexed by this decision that she had taken. Why go through the hustle of searching for the culprit if this was the end result?

"What does this mean?" Tony asked tentatively.

Bibi looked curiously at Scarlet, but hope did not dwindle in her eyes. It came forward even stronger than it had previously.

"It means that I will not send the boy to the RGB and we can close this case here for now. But I will discuss it with captain Zorl and explain it away as a misunderstanding. I am sure that he will want to meet you and Caleb to ascertain the facts of the case. Don’t worry, he is not as heartless as the rumors say and if he determines that nothing is amiss, he will close the file quickly. You can leave my castle now, and this should be the last I hear of this mess otherwise things will get ugly very fast. You should keep him far away from needles, switch to machines and take him for some counseling perhaps. He should be able to learn that being pricked hurts and it’s not a game otherwise what will you do if he keeps it up and accidentally kills someone someday?" She asked the question seriously and she herself pondered on it. What would she do if the boy really did kill someone someday after she let him go this easily? Perhaps she was being too rash in the decision to close the case secretly. She needed to speak to Esong about this, he would surely have an idea of what to do.

"I will take him to do the counseling thing, I promise. And when we get home I will prick him myself if I have to so that he can learn how much it hurts." Bibi said vehemently.

"Eh!!" Severus was stunned. This woman was either crazy, heartless or extremely decisive.

"Oh!!" Scarlet gasped as she was stunned too. She had not suggested that Bibi prick her brother but she was in no hurry to stop her either. On one hand, he would learn that it caused pain but on the other hand was it okay to do that to a child? It surely wasn’t!!It was surely a moral dilemma or perhaps an ethical one.

"Thank you so much for your kindness governor, we will get out of your hair immediately." Bibi carried Caleb and rushed to vacate herself from Scarlet’s presence before the governor could change her mind about the issue.

With a scoff, she watched brother and sister scurry out of the gardens until they disappeared from her presence. Bibi had not even taken the two needles which Caleb had almost stabbed Scarlet with.

"Send some guards to their house and confiscate every needle she owns. And then contact professor Sham and tell him to evaluate the boy thoroughly. Nothing should be missed in case this is truly a case of the budding darkness. Tell him that he is under strict instructions to share the results of said evaluation with only me and he must deliver the report to me in person." She told Tion.

"Yes governor." He bowed and went away to deal with that situation while Scarlet headed into the castle.

As she walked slowly all by herself, she thought about the possibilities of the evaluation professor Sham would carry out on the boy. What would he find when he carried out tests? What did Bibi mean when she said that the boy would be taken away from them? Who would take him and what would they do with him?

There was a fear that everyone had towards being found ill with the darkness that made her think it was an automatic death sentence. For now, she had managed to achieve major success with her new herbal concoction. Tion and her guards were recovering faster than they had before, and she would be ready to involve professor Sham and other reputable doctors on this project very soon.

"Have you solved it?" Esong’s voice interrupted her numerous thoughts and she spun around in surprise.

He did not seem to realize that she had been startled and he asked again, "Have you solved it?"

"What?" She asked.

He poked her lightly in the back with his right hand index finger and made a sound that was similar to the one the boy had made. "Shoo, shoo." He said.

"Oh, that." She said with an eye roll. "I closed the case, I am a genius after all." She bragged with a proud expression on her face.

"Ouuh, look at my genius wife, she is out here doing the RGB’S work for them." He pinched her cheek with a doting smile on his face. "So, what is it? Who is the bastard that has been terrorizing the women of the Blue star? Let’s not bother with the RGB and send him directly to the Red star."

She removed his fingers from her cheeks and said, "I don’t think sending a child to the Red star is the answer to this problem. The one you referred to as a bastard is an eight year old boy who apparently thought that it was a harmless game. I wanted to discuss the problem with you before I can make any permanent decisions like sending that family back to the capital or involving the RGB. Does this kind of situation seem familiar to you in any way? Is it a case of the budding darkness? What will happen to the boy if he is truly ill?"

Esong thought for a few seconds, and then he shook his head and said reluctantly, "The boy will have to die."
