Chapter 344: He is just a child!!
One foot at a time, Bibi and Tony were escorted into separate cars, with Bibi joining Scarlet. The woman was so talkative that she did not even realize that they were going somewhere and she had absolutely no idea clue where that was.
She continued to regale Scarlet with tales of her seamstress work and sharing images of some of her designs that she planned to introduce after opening her own dress shop.
"Aah, what a little fool she is, even chicken have a greater sense of danger than her." Severus commented judgmentally.
Scarlet did not respond to his words, ignoring them as if nothing had been said by the hound. But she did share his opinion on Bibi’s lack of vigilance. Whether she was the governor or not, the woman should have been wise to be cautious of any stranger.
Soon, they arrived at the castle and Scarlet led the way to the gardens which were devoid of lushness as the flowers and trees were newly planted. They were planted in neat rows and when they matured, they would fill the surroundings of the castle with beauty.
Bibi’s eyes were drawn to the glass house with trees, and colorful flowers which were already blossoming. Sounds of birds were coming out of the glass house and the boy who had not left Bibi’s arms for a single second was curiously looking at the glass house.
"Sit down." Scarlet told Bibi. She herself took a sit first on a bench beside a small stream in which a flock of ducks were loudly playing. The young ducks were swimming behind the adult ones.
Bibi sat down while her brother chose to stand. It suddenly started to dawn on her that she was inside the governor’s castle, and in one of the areas that were closed off to outsiders. She looked around nervously and frowned before looking at her brother inquisitively.
Scarlet watched a plethora of emotions travel on her face, and she realized that finally, it was dawning on Bibi that this was a very unusual situation.
"What kind of needles do you use?" Scarlet suddenly asked her. "I know that some of you use machines, but you are one of the few seamstresses that hand stitches specific patterns on her gowns. I am sure that you have heard something about the pricking case in the mall. I am looking into every seamstress on the Blue star for this reason."
Bibi looked at Tony but Scarlet turned the woman’s face back and said, "Don’t look at him, just answer my question sincerely and our business will be concluded."
Nervously, Bibi touched her pockets and revealed long needles with yellow caps. The moment she did, the boy reached his hands out and grabbed them out of her hands.
The boy said, "Shoo, shoo," and aimed the needles at Scarlet.
Severus growled while Tion pushed Tony aside and grabbed the boy by the back of his shirt, lifting him high up in the air. The needles went flying as another of her personal guards controlled them with his mental strength.
Everything happened so quickly in a matter of a few seconds that Scarlet barely got to process what she had just witnessed.
"Not again!!" Bibi cried out in dismay while Tony tried to grab the boy out of Tion’s hands.
The whole thing was very dramatic, attracting the attention of the gardeners and castle workers. All were filled with curiosity and they pretended to work as they watched the drama wondering what exactly had caused all this fuss.
The words ’not again’ as Bibi had said rung through Scarlet’s mind over and over. What exactly did it mean? Had the boy done this to someone else?
Bibi was being held back by one of the guards as she said in a desperate soft voice, "Please, he is just a child, he did not mean to harm anyone."
Scarlet thought about those words as well, Bibi had said not anyone rather than the governor. Now, she wanted to get to the bottom of things.
"Let him go." she told Tion. "All of them in fact, I am sure that this is a misunderstanding which can be easily cleared up."
Once the boy was released, he run and buried himself in Bibi’s waiting arms while Tony glared at Tion as if he was the worst monster in existence.
"Ho-how could you?" he stammered.
"Sir, your son tried to stab the governor with dangerous weapons. You are lucky that all I did was suspend him in the air and not thrust him into the glass house or one of the ponds. Why are you allowing a young child to play with needles in the first place? Do you know how dangerous this is?" Tion barked at Tony.
Tony suddenly turned timid and he stepped back with fear in his eyes. Tion looked like he wanted to punch something and Tony looked like a ripe target at the moment.
Tony even thought about explaining the fact that Caleb was not his son but the words were stuck in his throat as he endured Tion’s menacing gaze.
Scarlet kept a stern eye on Bibi who was cuddling the boy and she said to her, "Explain yourself."
She wanted answers before Esong or Adler found their way here. In the castle walls, anything that put her name and danger in one sentence usually reached their ears pretty quickly.
Bibi struggled to explain herself and she started to cry suddenly. Tears and snot flowed from her eyes and nose, making her look like a pathetic helpless woman.
"He, he-he didn’t mean it." she said in between loud sobs. "Playing." she added.
"Playing!!!" Tion shouted angrily.
Bibi tightened her hold on Caleb, trying to swallow him into her embrace as if that was possible.
"Tion." Scarlet called him sternly in a voice that carried a warning.
Then, she handed Bibi a handkerchief and told her "Wipe your tears and stop crying. All I need is an explanation about this, __playing of his." she finished after a brief moment of hesitation.
Bibi looked at Scarlet with hope in her eyes and a plea for understanding before taking the handkerchief and wiping away her tears. Scarlet also handed her a bottle of iced orange flavored tea.
"Thank you." Bibi whispered.
As soon as she calmed own and was coherent enough to make sense, Scarlet asked her, "Is your brother the one who has been pricking the women in the mall?"
Bibi nodded her head and looked at Scarlet desperately. "It was a mistake, he really didn’t mean it. The blame should all fall on me, I am the cause of all this. He saw me prick myself a few times when I was sewing and I told him that it doesn’t hurt because I didn’t want to worry him. I even allowed him to prick me two times and this led him down the wrong path. He thinks it’s a game and that it doesn’t hurt. When I heard about the women in the mall, and calculated the time, I knew that it was him. I took him with me a few times to buy some things on all those occasions. But I won’t take him to the mall anymore and I will teach him the truth. Please, don’t involve the GBCS or RGB, they might consider it to be a case of the budding darkness and take him from us." She pushed Caleb to the side and fell to her knees before Scarlet.
