Chapter 30: Chapter 30 Apology

"Master... who wouldn’t like to have a taste of you?" I asked with widened eyes. I was only stating the obvious.

"So is that a yes or no?"

’This bastard.’ I thought inwardly, flashing him a shy smile.

"Yes," I answered, my eyes locking with his predator’s own. His eyes glinted with an unreadable look. He pursed his lips together before patting my head.

"Go wash up, you must be hungry."

With that, he rose to his feet before crossing my legs, stepping out into his room. I ruffled my hair slightly as I sighed in relief. I stood up, bolting the door closed, before I went to wash up.

After I was done, I went out of the washroom, drying my hair with a hand towel. After making sure that it was no longer dripping with water, I made my way to the dining table. My heart skipped a beat seeing Damon sitting graciously as he mindfully ate his food.

My brows furrowed. ’I thought werewolves are known to be very rough in everything they did. Why is this one in front of me so demure?’ I couldn’t help but wonder.

I grabbed a chair to sit down, but one cold look from him and my fingers unwrapped from the chair before sitting on the ground. But he shot a glare again, moving his head to the space beside him.

I swallowed angrily before moving to the space beside him. I sat dejectedly on the cold floor. Then he handed me a plate of the dishes.

"Thank you... Master," I muttered under my breath as I collected it from him.

He grabbed his cutlery again. "I believe both of us will have an amazing relationship... as a pet and master. Do you know why?"

I shook my head, because I highly doubted that. If only he knew how much I wanted to torture him and make him beg me for the mercy of death.

"Because you are smart, and I like that." he mused.

"Hmmm." I nodded my head to his words. At least he knew that.

"So why don’t you tell me how you came up with the idea of using rocks, mud, and grass to hold back the water?"

I coughed as his words took me by surprise. I turned, meeting his gaze. ’Should I tell him that I came from a civilized world, and that I died in my world and then transmigrated into this Omega body? Will he believe me, or will he think I’ve gone nuts?’

I cleared my throat, "When I was a kid, I always had this strange habit of playing with rocks, mud, and dirt. So there was this particular day when I was playing with dirty water inside a burrowed hole, then a thought came to me: why don’t I separate the water without them meeting? I played with different options and failed... until I managed to detect this method of using rocks, mud, and dirt." I lied through my teeth without batting an eyelid.

"What an interesting story of a discovery," he took a sip from his glass of water.

"I guess I’m a genius. Even childhood couldn’t hold back my ingenuity." I complimented myself. I earned it.

’No, you didn’t. You were not the one who discovered that,’ my treacherous mind lashed at me.

’But I’m the one who just formed a story from thin air. Isn’t that a masterpiece of my ingenuity?’

"You should get ready as soon as you finish eating. We are already behind because someone thought it was a good time to collapse after defying orders from her elders."

At his words, my mind flashed to the day before... so he was the one who caught me yesterday, and he was the one who brought me into the room, tucking me into bed. Did he also watch over me throughout the night?

"Thank you for bringing me back, Master," I said, ignoring his sarcastic remark.

The sound of the cutlery clicking against the plates was the only noise in the room. The silence wasn’t as suffocating as before; I found it easier to breathe in his presence now.

"I’m sorry, Master, for barging in on you while you were... showering. I didn’t mean to," I apologized. ’A quote says: if you are wrong, own up to what you didn’t do right. That’s how you learn and earn respect.’

"So you know how to apologise?" he said nonchalantly, not bothering to spare me a glance.

What did he mean by that? I always own up to my faults. My nose flared. Is that what he is supposed to say right now?

"Yes, Master, I know that I was wrong. I invaded your privacy, and that is not a right thing to do. That’s why I’m offering my sincerest apology."

"Very eloquent, I must say. My heart is touched by your sincerest apology." He touched his left chest as if he was really touched by what I said.

"Does that not mean that you have forgiven me, Master?"

"That I can’t say for now."

"I thought you said you were touched by my sincere apology?" My brows furrowed at him. I couldn’t help but wonder how exactly he was programmed.

"I did, but I never said I forgave you." He dabbed his lips with napkins, then pushed the chair backward, causing a sharp screech against the wooden floor.

"Hurry up. We should be on our way now."

I sighed. At least I had apologised. It was up to him if he would forgive me or not. I stood up to my feet, my butt already hurting from sitting on the cold floor.

I grabbed a muffin as I made my way out of the room.

........

Damon and I stood at the castle entrance. Soon, a black car pulled up in front of me. It had escaped my mind from all the hassle I experienced when I newly came into this world.

’How did they gain access to a car? Although an old model of a 1957 Ford Thunderbird, how do they get it to work? Considering how outdated their clothes looked—like the ones in the 1900s. Does this mean I’ve travelled back in time?...’

"Ember, get in the car," came Damon’s curt voice.
