Chapter 29: Chapter 29 What Did I Just See?

His intoxicating smell of chocolate and pine invaded my nostrils, his warmth radiating into my body, his well-chiselled chest made me want to snuggle more into his arms.

"Ember, can you hear me?" a muffled voice echoed in my ears.

I wanted to respond back to him, but I didn’t have the strength to open my mouth. Then I felt light in the air as he lifted me up, carrying me in his arms. All I could see were the blurry walls that were moving at a fast pace.

Then everything went blank.

...

My eyes fluttered open to the aroma of food that was drifting in the air. From one sniff, I could tell that there was bacon, sweet corn, fresh-baked bread, chicken soup, and baked muffins. My mouth salivated as I stood up from the bed groggily. I rubbed my knuckles against my eyes.

As my gaze became clearer, I realized that I was in Damon’s room, and the sunlight penetrated the gap between the curtains, casting a filtered light in the room. My gaze wandered to the table, which was filled with food.

I jumped down on my feet as I rushed to the table. My hand reached out to grab a muffin, but I mentally slapped my hand. ’That’s rude, you are not the owner of the food, and besides, you haven’t brushed your teeth. Don’t tell me you’ve lacked your manners now... remember: no eating before brushing your teeth.’

I nodded my head in agreement. It’s not like the food would suddenly grow a leg and run away. With all of my resolve, I pulled my hand back to my side. The hand moved to the table again, but I pulled it back before turning around, heading to the washroom.

My hand reached for the door’s handle, pushing it wide open, running inside, as I could not bear parting with the food for so long. ’It’s going to be lonely,’ I thought to myself.

AAAAARGH!

My scream pierced through the silence in the room, my footsteps echoing on the wooden floor. I flew out of the washroom, shutting the door behind me.

’What did I just see? What did I just see?’ my mind chanted in panic.

I closed my eyes, as my lips stretched into a silent cry. I rested my back on the door as my heart pounded erratically in my ears, a bright pink hue contorting my cheeks with its grace as my mind replayed what I had just seen.

A man, 6 foot 2, standing under the shower, the scent of soap lingered in the air. His body oozing with vapor from the hot water, beads of water droplets flowing graciously down his body. His wet body glistened, making me drool over him. His wet black raven hair swept back from his face without a single strand falling out of place. His well-chiselled chest and well-toned arms flexed as he moved to wash his body. It was like I was watching a private steamy movie, with a handsome man displaying his goodies in front of me.

It was all going great until he snapped around, his sharp dark eyes narrowed at me like I was a naughty child who was caught doing a bad thing. But I didn’t see anything I wasn’t supposed to see... until my eyes trailed down those eight-packs, down to his small waist to his main area.

My eyes widened as I stared at the marvellous work of God. This man is well-endowed. I raised my head up, giving him a thumbs up—it’s actually a ten.

"Want some of it?" he asked with an amused look as he stared down at his main area.

A scream escaped my lips as I ran away from the pervert. ’What did he mean by that?’ I thought inwardly.

My chest heaved heavily. ’Pervert?’ my mind began. ’Did you just say pervert? Weren’t you gawking at his marvellous body and well-endowed area? He didn’t say anything wrong. In fact, he was generous enough that he wanted you to have a taste of his heavenly food.’

At that thought, I bit my lower lip. ’Should I have a taste of it?’ My body shivered at that thought. ’Get your head together, Ember,’ I thought, fanning myself with my hand. The temperature had risen up; my body was burning. I felt like it was an indirect proportion. Because my body was burning higher than the normal room temperature.

’Idiot, isn’t your body temperature supposed to be higher than the room temperature?’ I facepalmed myself, laughing at myself.

A yelp escaped my throat when the door I was resting on suddenly swung open, which made me lose balance, falling backward to the ground. A look of relief flashed through my eyes when I saw Damon standing right behind me—he would catch me... so I thought.

However, to my dismay, he kindly stepped aside, watching me fall to the ground. A thud sound echoed through the air, followed by a groan.

I held the back of my head as pain shot through my skull. I grimaced before sitting up. "Master... good morning," I said awkwardly, because I didn’t know what to say to someone who caught you watching them take a shower.

"It really is a good morning," he drawled, his gaze narrowing down at me like an arrow.

"Yes, Master," I bit my tongue as a wave of embarrassment crashed into me. I believed I had turned red as a tomato. I waited for him to leave; however, he didn’t move an inch.

"You didn’t answer my question earlier."

I closed my eyes in embarrassment. ’This man is really a pain in the ass. Doesn’t he know when to push or pull?’

If I said yes, he might insist for me to have a taste—that’s how mentally unstable he is. And if I say no, I would be asking for punishment from him.

I flinched back when he squatted to my level. "What is your answer, Ember?" His rich, hoarse voice was like music to my ears. I loved how my name rolled perfectly out of his tongue, like it was a name that he was meant to call.
