Chapter 95: His kiss...

[Long Chapter.]

Lucian didn’t release her even though she was struggling to get away from him. Instead, he pulled her behind a pillar next to the place they were standing as he heard voices coming from the corridors and pinned her back against the pillar, his hand flat behind her head on the pillar to keep her from running away.

He had come out of the chamber he’d used to bathe and change and was heading to the dining hall when she had collided with him, and he had perceived Caelan’s scent on her. Now, he wouldn’t let her slip away with that look on her face that made his insides churn with rage, he’d felt a air of revulsion around her the minute he’d pulled her towards him, as if she was utterly disgusted by anyone and everyone who would touch he at this moment, that had intensified the feeling of anger in him as he realized he didn’t like that she seemed disgusted by him touching her as well.

Ave, trapped between the pillar and Lucian, was going to continue struggling when she heard the footsteps and voices, so she stilled. Not long after, about five young women in princess’ outfits walked past them, giggling about whatever they were talking about.

"...I wonder who Princess Madeline would pick among the Pendragon princes. She’s..." Their voices faded away in the halls, and Ave realized they must be part of the guests who had arrived yesterday as she had never seen any of them before.

Once they left, she slowly looked back at Lucian, who was now looking down at her with his trademark blank expression. Her hands, which had stilled against his chest, remained there, and she felt his steady heartbeat against her palm.

"Did you knock him out again when he tried to touch you?" she heard him ask, his voice low and calm, as if he didn’t want anyone passing by to hear or see them.

Ave blinked twice before shaking her head. "No, but I did punch and kick him in the groin," she muttered softly, feeling more relaxed and calm now that he wasn’t touching her and was only standing close, his scent offering her a peace she didn’t know she could find in him.

"Good," she heard him say with satisfaction. "Better than letting him off easily."

Though Lucian felt the urge to find Caelan and teach him a lesson that would send him directly on a slow and painful ride to hell, he controlled himself, knowing he was in no position to beat up his half-brother unless he wanted to ruin his chances of becoming Emperor and his image around the guests. However, he was satisfied that Ave hadn’t let Caelan off lightly.

"Good?" Ave frowned as she looked up at him, meeting his eyes. "You think it’s good that I hit him? What if he tells his mother about it or does something to get back at me?" she asked. Now that her mind was clearer, she felt a bit anxious, not wanting anything to ruin her chances of helping Lucian or getting herself killed before returning home.

Before Lucian could speak again, Ave’s eyes widened as she said, "He also said he would make me his sex slave. Oh no, can he do that?" she asked, alarmed.

Lucian’s eyes darkened. "Only if he takes the throne," he answered curtly, before adding, "And you don’t have to worry. From what I know of Caelan, he won’t tell anyone you hit him. His ego and pride wouldn’t allow it. Getting hit by a woman is a good way to strip a man of his pride and dignity in our world."

Ave sighed in relief upon hearing that, because she recalled the last time she had knocked him off, he hadn’t told on her and had acted like nothing had happened. And for as long as she was here, she would try her best to ruin Caelan’s chances of becoming Emperor. Since he also wouldn’t report her to his mother, she had nothing to worry about for now.

Now that Ave was calm, she cleared her throat and said, "Move. We need to head to the dining—" She gasped when she suddenly felt his thumb on her swollen lips. She stilled as he used his thumb and index finger to slowly trace her lips, rubbing them in a way that felt like a massage, his eyes lowered on them before meeting hers, causing her stomach to flutter as he quietly asked, "Does it still hurt?" His thumb still rubbed them gently.

Ave felt her body tingle, her stomach twisting in a way that made her breath hitch as she met his gaze. She was so lost in his eyes, she didn’t realize when she nodded. "Yes," she answered softly.

"Hmm," she heard him hummed softly. "I will make the pain go away," he whispered, his gaze glued to her lips where his fingers were rubbing and massaging.

The next thing she knew, he leaned down and covered her lips with his mouth. Ave froze in place, her eyes widening in disbelief as she felt his tongue lick her swollen lips before he sucked on them slowly and tenderly.

A throaty groan escaped his mouth as a drop of her blood from her bruised lips fell on his tongue and caused him to further lose control of himself.

He didn’t kiss her in the way Ave knew a man kissed a woman. Rather, he was sucking on her lips, alternating between the upper and lower ones as if intending to soothe her pain while also absorbing an absolutely enchanting flavor from her lips. Despite herself, Ave found the sensation of his mouth on hers unexpectedly pleasant and she remained still for him to continue.

A ticklish wave erupted in her stomach like the soft flight of a hundred butterflies. Her heartbeat slowly accelerated until she could hear it pounding In her ears.

Ave had felt disgusted by Caelan’s kiss and touch, but in this moment, she felt lightheaded, her legs growing wobbly as Lucian continued to suck on her lips. Just as she thought her legs were about to give out, she felt his arm wrap around her waist, pulling her closer. His head tilted to the side, allowing their mouths to fit together perfectly as he deepened the kiss, his mouth perfectly molding with hers hungrily.

Ave gripped the front of his shirt, trying to keep herself steady when she knew she should be pushing him away and putting an end to this before he’d get the wrong impression of her and what their relationship was.

She had sworn to herself she wanted nothing to do with the prince beyond helping him, yet her body reacted to him in ways that made her feel like she had lost all control. A moan escaped her lips as his tongue brushed against the entrance of her mouth, and before she realized it, she parted her lips for him, helplessly losing herself in his arms that felt like an enchantment, lost in the heat of his lips against hers.

His tongue slipped inside, plunging in and out and exploring her mouth as one of his hands moved behind her head, angling her for better access.

Ave had never been kissed before and had never imagined it would feel this good. Her hands released their grip on his shirt, sliding slowly up around his neck as she pushed herself onto her toes to meet and receive the intensity of his kiss. Rationality seemed to have deserted her, she couldn’t think, all she could do was feel...and the feeling was this burning heat inside of her pulling her to him, irresistibly making her want...want what? She couldn’t tell, but she didn’t want this to end.

A tightening and a throbbing sensation built in her lower abdomen, causing her to pull closer to his body until she slid back onto her heels. That was when she realized his knee was now pressed between her legs and when she slid down, it poked her right where she felt a mix of tingling and a sticky, uncomfortable sensation building up in her core, making her kiss him back while subconsciously rubbing her inner thigh against his knee, it brought about foreign sensations that roiled through her body, it felt like sweet electric waves pouring into her skin. It was delightful.

When she began to kiss him back, she heard him groan in the back of his throat and pressed her body firmly against the pillar behind them, with his front pressing intimately to hers where she could feel something in his trousers poking her stomach, causing her to freeze for a moment in astonishment and shock.

When he bit down on her lips with what she suspected weren’t his teeth but something sharper, she gasped and snapped back to her senses. At that moment, he sucked on her lips to soothe his bite and gathered her completely on his forearms, lifting her up until her feet left the floor, while he continued kissing her like a man starved for years who had finally found his salvation in what they were doing.

Ave realized whatever she was doing, her eyes widened in realization as her rational mind returned swiftly making her aware of their position, whatever he was doing to her was wrong...this feeling was wrong and she shouldn’t be tolerating it.

She quickly hit his shoulder to make him stop, but he seemed too lost in it to realize what they were doing until she bit down on his lips, and he immediately pulled back. His eyes were a shade darker, burning with a kind of fire she knew would scorch her if she got lost in them. He looked dazed before a shocked expression overtook his mesmerizing features as if realization of what he was doing had suddenly slammed into him.

He quickly released her, and Ave would have fallen to the floor if he hadn’t reached out to catch her by her waist and steady her.

They were both breathless as they stood there, staring at each other while trying to catch their breaths. Lucian’s eyes looked so dark they almost seemed red as he stared into Ave’s eyes. Her face had now turned so red she could feel the heat like she’d been baked.

Lucian didn’t know what had come over him and made him kiss her like that. He hadn’t intended to. He’d lost control when he tasted her blood in his mouth and even bit her to draw more. Her blood, along with her, was addictive, causing him to lose his mind whenever he was with her.

And now that she was glaring up at him in accusation, he looked down at the lips he had kissed to soothe but had now made worse instead, as they looked more swollen and bruised from his handiwork. He hated to admit it, but he felt a kind of satisfaction seeing that he had covered her lips with his mark rather than Caelan’s.

Ave, who was still trying to process what had just happened, saw him raise his hand and tried to touch her throbbing lips, but she quickly swat at his hand and stepped back, only to hit her back against the pillar. She saw as his expression twisted into one she’d never seen on his face before, somewhat sad and lost before it disappeared.

"What are you doing to me, Aveline?" she heard him ask with a serious frown on his face now. What did he mean? Wasn’t he the one who had dared to kiss her without her permission?

"I... I didn’t do anything to you. You shouldn’t do that again because the next time you try, I will kick you in the crotch as well..." she muttered.

Ave saw a ghost of a smile grace his sinfully sexy lips that now looked redder than they were before, with a trace of blood, which his tongue peeked out and licked clean, causing her throat to go dry. Before she could react this time around, she felt his finger trace her lips again before he licked the finger where she saw a trace of red on it before it disappeared into his mouth. Her blood!

Ave’s eyes widened in horror as she pushed away from him.

When she pushed at his chest, Lucian allowed her to and stepped back from her, knowing that if he continued to stand this close to her, only the heavens would save her from the flames she had ignited within him, he was wracked with a burning desire to hold her and mold her into his skin, explore every luscious angle of her...it was still baffling to him why he was having these urges towards her, and her blood... he could barely stop himself from biting her again just to have a taste of her blood until he was satisfied and quench the thirst he knew water could never quench.

Ave covered her bruised lips with her hand and looked up at him in horror. "A-are you a vampire?" she asked, stepping away from him.

"Vampire?" He arched a brow in question, as he’d never heard of such a word before.

"A creature that feeds on human blood. Are you one of them?" she asked, causing his expression to turn serious again.

"I do not know," he answered honestly, as he had no idea what he was. All he knew was that he was cursed with a beast, and he’d never had the urge to want someone’s blood until recently when he’d tasted hers. Now, he would feel an itch in his throat when he had a little and the urge to have more.

Ave looked at him in fear. She wasn’t afraid of him but was afraid of what he could do to her. What if he was a vampire and didn’t know because they were in an era where vampires weren’t known or given a name yet? What if he bit her neck one day and turned her into one of his kind?

With those thoughts in mind, Ave turned on her heels and ran for her life, leaving Lucian standing there, stunned. A strange unpleasant feeling gripped his chest by the fear he’d glimpsed in her expressive blue eyes before her figure faded away in the darkness.
