Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife -
Chapter 206: "Don’t leave."
Chapter 206: "Don’t leave."
Staring at the closed door of the bathing room with a confused frown, Ave wondered what had just happened. One moment everything was fine, and then he was trembling and then he was hurting her with his nails, which she could have sworn had grown longer at that moment before he stood up and moved away from her. The look in his eyes showed how surprised he was by whatever had happened before he turned and left.
Looking down at her chest, Ave noticed the ugly red marks that were bleeding slightly, marred her fair skin. She knew it wasn’t just on her chest as she could feel the same sting on her neck and back. She didn’t have to look to know he had scratched her with his nails on her neck and back as well, and that made her frown deepen even more. Lucian would never hurt her, she knew that because her heart believed that; what had just happened was out of his control.
Something wasn’t right about him; he wasn’t alright. He had been shaking and had a very hot, abnormal body temperature that scared the hell out of her when she touched him. She needed to check up on him and make sure he was fine.
With those thoughts, Ave pulled the sleeves of her dress back on and stood up from the floor to follow him into the bathroom. She didn’t even bother to knock and pushed the door open. She stopped at the entrance when she noticed her husband inside, sitting at the steps inside the water with his head leaned back and his eyes closed. His hair fell wetly around him, though his eyes were closed, a deep frown pulled his brows together as if he was in deep thought.
She hesitated for just a moment before she approached him; his thoughts must have been so deep because he didn’t seem to notice her approach him like he usually did. He didn’t move from where he was in the water. She came to stand behind him and sat down on a small stool usually kept beside a bathing pool so the maids could help the royals wash their hair and massage their scalp when they leaned back the way Lucian did.
Biting the inside of her cheeks, she contemplated what to do for a moment, and she finally decided to approach the topic of what had happened in the room in a more gentle way without being direct. She reached out and took the bottle of hair wash at the side and poured it into her palm before she slowly reached out and touched his head.
Her sudden touch seemed to alarm him. His eyes snapped open immediately, and he moved away from her with a lightning speed that scared her for a moment. He moved further into the water as he swirled around to look at her; his eyes, she noticed dreadfully, glowed so dangerously, the infernal glow in them seemed to pierce through the dimness that she could barely see the white in them as he stared at her intensely. As if realizing she was the one, the dangerous glow began to subside before they returned to normal.
Ave remained seated where she was, with both her hands held in front of her where the hair wash was. Deciding that he didn’t seem to want her there with how he was looking at her and had moved away, she stood up to leave after offering him a smile that didn’t reach her eyes and mirrored her hurt.
Before she could take a step, she heard his panicked voice as he called out, "Don’t leave." She stopped and turned to him with pursed lips and a small glare in her blue eyes.
"Why? You don’t look like you want me here," she grumbled displeasingly like she had lost interest in being here; however, she still walked back and sat down on the stool while still glaring at him when she saw the pleading look on his face. She patted the edge where he had been leaning his head before, and he wordlessly walked back to the place and sat down on the steps before leaning his head back for her to wash.
Lucian felt her hands rub the hair wash into his hair, and he closed his eyes. He had been so distracted with the image of the red cuts he’d left on her skin and filled with remorse that he didn’t realize when she walked in earlier. He didn’t know what had come over him, but he had felt an animalistic desire coursing through his veins and made him want to do more than consummate their marriage. He didn’t only want to bite her, he wanted to mark her, he felt it in him, he wanted to taste her blood and do things he knew she would never be able to handle.
What made him got his control back and left the room to cool down without a word was because he recalled his first time having a woman. It had been his first and last time then, he was just between the ages of seventeen or eighteen when they went to a brothel with the soldiers after they returned from a battle years ago.
Alden had gone and he’d dragged him along with Zane then, they had been given a whore each, and because of his male curiosity after all the books about sexual acts he had studied in secret with Zane, he had wanted to try them out then, something he would never had done if the soldiers hadn’t made fun of him when he refused to go to the room with the woman.
Their taunting and mockery had made him go to that room with that woman with the thoughts to show them that he was a man as well and no longer a boy. What happened that night had been a secret between him and Zane, the woman had died under him by the time they were done. Her fragile human form hadn’t been able to withstand his overwhelming strength; before he could reach his climax, he had unintentionally ended her life
Her death hadn’t bothered him because she had seduced him in front of the soldiers and made fun of him when he said he wasn’t interested, and when he finally showed her he was a man, she hadn’t been able to take him, he was no human, but she was.
Lucian had never been bothered by that thought as he knew he was never going to take any woman again to bed; he had forgotten about it until tonight when he felt the burning in his body. He would have killed his wife as well had he not taken a hold of himself on time. He had almost forgotten that she was a human while he was an ugly large beast; the strength that coursed through his body was powerful enough to kill her if care wasn’t taken. He hadn’t even began yet but he’d injured her.
The thought of consummating their marriage had triggered that animalistic desire in him that made him lose control. He had left without a word because he was ashamed of himself for the bleeding cuts he’d left on her skin. He had noticed how the cut looked deep enough to bleed.
He could never forgive himself if he were to kill her like he did that whore years ago, she was the most precious woman in his world and in his life, he could never afford to lose her because he wanted to quench his burning desires to have her body, to join with her in a beautiful way only a man and woman could.
Lucian felt his throat constrict as a bubble of emotions rose to his chest. He felt her lovely fingers move into his hair and rub and massage his scalp with the hair wash, and he felt even more terrible for what he’d almost done to her.
"I am sorry..." His deep, quiet voice broke the silence that had fallen between them since she’d stayed behind and began to wash his hair for him. Her hands briefly paused in his hair for just a moment before she continued what she was doing, and he heard her sigh.
"Why are you apologizing to me? Is it because you kept me waiting the whole afternoon for your return?" She asked, her voice laced with humor. To Ave, he had no reason to apologize if he was apologizing for what she thought he was. She had been watching his face as she washed his hair and could read how distressed he looked, he seemed to be battling with some troublesome thoughts she would give anything to know and help him take away his worries.
The cuts on her skin might have hurt, but to her, they were nothing. She would endure many more if it meant taking away whatever was troubling him.
"Aveline," he whispered her name as he reached out and grabbed her hand that was rubbing his hair. He turned in the water so he was facing her. Dipping her hand into the water to rinse away the foam, he brought it up to his lips and pressed a kiss on each one of her five fingers before he brought the hand to his cheek, where she smiled and caressed it tenderly.
"What’s wrong?" She breathed as she used her thumb to caress his cheek and eyebrows. She realized his temperature was back to normal, but the distress in his eyes didn’t go away as he gazed at her.
"I am hungry," he whispered thickly as he leaned forward and dropped his head on her lap and closed his eyes despite the fact that he’d said he was hungry. He was acting like a big baby instead of telling her what was actually disturbing his mind, and because he had never admitted to being hungry before, Ave couldn’t help the small smile on her face as she looked at his head where she hadn’t rinsed away the foam and he’d rubbed it on her dress.
Not minding that he’d rubbed the foam on her, she stroked his hair and heard him sigh in contentment. "I will tell the head cook to prepare something quick for you," she told him gently, but her husband shook his head.
"No. I will eat the food you cooked. There’s no need for the cook to make another meal when yours is laying on the dining table." He remarked seriously as he looked up to glance at her face.
Ave’s brows pulled together, "It’s been there since afternoon, I bet it’s cold and tasteless by now. Eating something cold will upset your stomach in this weather." She told him. Though some of the snacks she’d made for him could be eaten cold, she doubted it would hold his stomach as she’d not made much, not to mention she was a bit self-conscious about him eating her cooking for the first time. It had been there untouched and cold since afternoon.
"I don’t mind eating cold food, I’ve eaten worse than cold food in camps, my love. You can tell the cook to make something quick for you, but don’t mind me, my food is already laying on the dining table." He assured her with a disarming boyish smile that made her purse her lips and look down at him disapprovingly.
"My cooking isn’t that great, don’t expect anything great with that smile on your face. You might be disappointed," she told him in case he was insisting on eating it because he expected it to be wonderful. She had been too distressed when she cooked it to be sure it would taste good.
He chuckled, "If it wasn’t that great, Queen Lan Hui wouldn’t have been so impressed by it. I overheard from her conversation with the Chen Ambassador this morning how she wanted more of your cooking. She is willing to give into your deals to have the recipe. I will feel really heartbroken if it’s just me who hasn’t eaten something made by these lovely hands." He kissed her hands as he watched color creep up her face. She blushed earnestly and beamed at the news that the queen mother was willing to accept her deals to support Lucian.
It might not have been much help, but she was happy to know that she had at least earned him one kingdom supporter. "Fine, you can eat it, but don’t blame me if it doesn’t reach your expectations. Let me go and arrange the table while you rinse and come out," she leaned down and pressed a kiss on his forehead before she hurried away from the bathing room, while Lucian’s smile fell away when the door closed behind her.
He looked down into the water where his erection had stood on end without going down, and he cursed under his breath as he knew he wasn’t ever going to be able to do more than kiss his wife, and even a kiss would be at his own risk. She was afraid of being bitten, and that was exactly what he wanted to do to her whenever he was aroused, and he was afraid of hurting her or taking her life in the process, which meant... their marriage would never be completed if he didn’t consummate it. However, if it meant at the risk of her life, he was willing to never consummate for as long as she would remain by his side. He loved her that much.
