Chapter 205: Kiss away the pain
Chapter 205: Kiss away the pain
[Long Chapter.]

Zane nodded. "That’s what I heard, and from the covered dishes lying untouched on the dining table, it must be true."
Lucian muttered a curse under his breath. "That means she hasn’t eaten and went to sleep." He walked away from Zane in long strides and made his way to his chamber. He opened the door and walked into the dark chamber.
He snapped his fingers and turned on the lights. When his eyes fell on the bed, his expression softened as he noticed his wife curled up into a small ball on the bed, sleeping without a blanket. Her red hair spread over the pillow and around her, and her lips were slightly parted as she snored lightly.
He walked up to her and sat down at the edge of the bed. She looked so peaceful sleeping, almost like a child the way she curled herself up and hugged her arms around her knees that were pulled up to her chest. She was cold, and yet she didn’t use the blanket.
"Silly woman," he chided quietly as he reached out and used his handkerchief to wipe off the drool at the side of her mouth and closed her mouth for her. When he reached out to caress her cheek, her eyes flew open all of a sudden, and without waiting to see who it was that was touching her in her sleep, she swung her hand and landed a hard blow to his face, catching him off guard and making him fall back on the floor as she stood up on the bed and took up a fighting stance, bouncing on her feet with her clenched fists posed in front of her face as she jabbed them to the midair while cursing savagely.
"I will fucking kill you for touching me, you son of a bitch!" Ave gritted as she prepared to box the bastard, only to look down and see who it was. Her eyes widened. "Oh Lord! It was you!" She exclaimed as she got down from the bed and went on her knees beside Lucian, who was now rubbing his red cheek where she had punched him and was staring at her in disbelief, not anger. Thank goodness.
"Let me see," she said as she looked down at his face remorsefully.
"Ouch!" He flinched away from her when she reached out to touch his cheek. "Are you that angry that I didn’t come home early that you’d hit me?" he asked as he stared at her with eyes like that of a broken puppy who had been hit by its master for the first time.
Biting the inside of her cheek, she said, "I didn’t know it was you. I thought it was the third prince." She watched as his adorable eyes turned dark as he regarded her with concern and anger.
"Did Caelan try to harass you today?" he demanded coolly as he reached out and grabbed her shoulders, examining her body as if to look for any signs that his half-brother had forced himself on his wife. His eyes were so dark and murderous that Ave felt an involuntary shiver go down her spine.
"No, he didn’t," she assured him and watched as the murderous look fell away and was replaced by a confused look. "Then why did you think I was him?" he asked, but without waiting for her to reply, he sat back down on the floor and pulled her forward to sit on his lap so they could talk with her close to him. He made her straddle his thighs with her legs on either side of him and his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him with only a little gap between them.
Because of the sudden way he’d pulled her onto his lap, Ave’s dress had ridden up her thighs, and she sat on his lap bare-butt with only a little fabric they used as underwear here between her buttocks and his thighs. She felt the surge of heat that crept up her neck and settled on her cheeks at the intimate way they sat and also felt the tingling of the little butterflies fluttering in the pit of her stomach.
Pursing her lips, she wrapped her arms around his neck and looked at his eyes, which were right in front of her and staring at her patiently, waiting for her to answer his question.
"I had a very bad dream when I was sleeping. I was being dragged by that cow of a prince after he took the throne. He said I was his sex slave now and I would have to fulfill my duties to him. He touched my face at the same time you did when I woke up, so I acted instinctively and punched you," she told him and watched as his expression slightly hardened.
Though she had said it was a dream, Lucian didn’t take it lightly. He would never allow such a dream to happen, never. He used his hands to massage her waist by moving his hands from her waist to her hips, where he caressed with his fingers.
"That will never happen. I will kill him if he ever lays a hand on you." His voice rumbled in his chest as he gave her his words with a quiet intensity as he stared into her eyes that Ave knew he meant. With that look in his eyes, she knew he would, and that made her heart swell with warmth.
For the first time in all of her lonely life, she finally found someone with whom she could feel protected in his presence and knew that no harm could come to her with him there. Just like this morning when he had killed that woman to protect her. No words could describe her emotions.
Looking at his reddened cheek where she had punched him, she felt remorseful again at the sight of it. Moving one arm away from around his neck, she reached out and caressed his cheek, and he flinched as if in pain. She quickly removed her hand and looked into his eyes.
"Is it that painful?" she asked in worry, and he nodded his head and gave her that puppy look again.
"It is so painful, my love," he mused with a pitiful voice when in truth he could barely feel the pain. He had taken much stronger blows than this, but just to see her worry for his sake and try to make amends by doing anything, he had lied. Whenever she felt remorseful about something she did to him, Lucian had come to realize she would do anything he told her to make amends.
Ave leaned down and began to blow air from her mouth onto his cheek as if to take away the pain. But her husband pointed to it and said, "Kissing it might make it feel much better."
Nodding her head, she moved in to kiss his cheek, but Lucian had targeted her movements and turned his head to the side. Instead of kissing his cheek, she kissed his lips.
Ave’s eyes widened as her lips landed on his, and before she could pull away, he raised his hand to hold the back of her head, ensuring she couldn’t move away from him. He had missed those bewitching, soft, plump lips of hers that tasted like the most delicious and addictive fruits. He had dreamt of kissing them many nights while he was away on the battlefield. He would often wake from the short naps he managed to have in the camps covered in sweat and plagued by a painful erection from his dreams of having his wife. And ever since he’d returned, he hadn’t kissed her for fear that he wouldn’t be able to stop.
He tilted his head to the side to fit their mouths together properly before he began to move his lips against her tightly sealed mouth. She refused to open her mouth for him when she realized he had tricked her into kissing him.
Lucian smiled against her mouth and used his tongue to prod her sealed lips, asking for entrance. He licked and used his teeth to nibble her lips so she would part them for him. When she stubbornly refused to give in to that, he moved his hands slowly away from her hips. He worked his way from her hips to the back of her dress, where he slowly undid the strings of her dress. She wasn’t wearing a corset, he realized, as he got rid of the strings and moved the dress away from her shoulders and down to her waist.
When she tried to move away, he pulled her forward and watched as color rose to her cheeks. It was all he could do not to pin her down and do insane things that would make her blush more than she was now. She always looked adorable with those colors on her cheeks.
Ave, who realized he had tricked her into kissing him, was only resisting to see how far he would go if she refused to respond. But when he began to undo her dress strings, alarm bells went off in her brain, knowing that if they started kissing and touching now, he would have no reason to stop, as they were married. Not to mention, they had yet to consummate their marriage. She had dreaded that moment in the back of her mind ever since he’d told her about it yesterday.
She dreaded it not because she didn’t want it to happen, but because she was nervous and anxious. She didn’t even realize he had exposed her torso and moved her dress down until she felt his hand flick over her hardened nipples. She gasped, and he immediately took the opening he sought in her mouth, invading it with his warm tongue and muffling her surprised gasp.
His mouth immediately dominated hers as he kissed her hungrily and devouringly, exploring and plunging his tongue inside and over her lips like he was feasting on the most delicious thing in the world.
His kiss wasn’t only demanding but heartwarming. Her toes curled involuntarily as she raised her hands to hold the sides of his cheeks, giving him the access he demanded in her mouth. He sucked on her lower lip in a slow, sensational way that sent sparks bursting inside her heart. He transitioned from the lower to the upper lip as if he were starving and had finally reached his long-awaited meal.
His hand gripped the back of her neck, pulling her closer, making her moan against his kiss. It wasn’t just a kiss; it was a claim, fierce and overwhelming, igniting something dark and dangerous inside her. Every part of her melted under his control, surrendering to the storm that was him. She felt her lower abdomen tighten and throb as a heat curled and settled there, making her want more of him than he was giving.
She didn’t realize she had missed his kisses this much for the past weeks he was away until now. She tried to return his hungry kisses and tried to match his intensity. As he gripped one of her breasts and squeezed it gently, coaxing a moan out of her mouth, which he muffled with his intense kiss, she arched her back and tried to feel him against her body that longed to be touched and be joined with his.
With shaky hands, Ave reached out and began to undo his shirt buttons as her body burned and tingled for his touch and for the feel of him. She wanted him; that was all she knew. Her head was foggy with the way he was kissing and touching her, and the moment she got rid of his shirt, she flattened her palms against the hardened planes of his taut chest that seemed heated up against her touch. He was burning like flames, she realized as she touched him—literally burning, so much so that she had to pull her hands away from his chest. He was shaking intensely; she felt it, and it caused her to frown.
Before she could dewell on his heated temperature or ask if he was okay, he grabbed her wrists all of a sudden and pushed her to her back on the floor while still kissing her and covering her body with his. He was heating up so much she couldn’t ignore it this time.
"Lucian... wait..." she tried to stop him by pushing at his chest, but he yanked her hands and pinned them above her head with one hand while he kissed her coaxingly, moving from her lips to her neck and breast.
Lucian couldn’t control himself. There was something different about his wife tonight, something that called to the deepest parts of him. It wasn’t anything she did, or even how she seemed to match his desires tonight and was willing for him to go further than they had ever gone when they kissed. He could smell the change, something that stirred a deep hunger in him, almost painful in its intensity, that made him burn and shake. His fangs ached, throbbing with the need to bite into her soft skin, to taste her sweetness, her blood, the urge to release something warm in his fangs into her skin.
He could feel his muscles tightening, and every breath he took was filled with her, causing him to lose control further. If he allowed things to go any further in his current state, he might end up harming her rather than consummating their marriage like he had intended to when she seemed willing. He needed to stop, but he couldn’t. By God, he wanted to, but he had lost control of himself. He was hurting her with his claws that were beginning to grow, he could tell by how she tried to pull away from him and whimpered underneath him.
Lucian, stop it! He yelled at himself.
Ave, who felt his skin burn against hers like fire and felt the heat of his mouth on hers and the intense trembling of his body, tried to pull away, not because he was hurting her but because she cared about what was happening to him. He would crush her if he didn’t stop, and when she thought he wouldn’t stop kissing and touching her savagely like he had been possessed, he suddenly jerked away from her and moved away from her body completely.
She hurriedly sat up when he staggered to his feet and stared down at her with remorse and disbelief. He looked lost, as if he couldn’t believe what he had done, as he stared at her bruised lips and the claw marks he’d left on her body while trying to control himself. He parted his lips as if to say something but didn’t. His expression looked pained, and without saying a word, he turned on his heels and went into the bathing room. She heard him slam the door behind him with a resounding bang that made her slightly jump.
She happened to him? She wondered in confusion.
