Chapter 129: Want her in his bed

Ave swallowed hard as she prepared to apologize before the man could cut her down with the sword he had pulled out. She looked up and saw she had indeed bumped into the middle-aged man she recognized as the ambassador of Banzai, who was now regarding her with slight interest in his brown, wrinkled eyes.

"Just let it be, Lord Edward, it seems to be a harmless mistake," came another voice she recognized from the side, and looking towards it, she saw Prince Aaron standing at the ambassador’s side, he offered her a small smile and then gestured for her to pack the papers she had allowed the man to drop on the floor.

Ave hurriedly understood and bent down, hastily beginning to pick them up at the same time she felt the cold sword of Lord Edward rest on the back of her neck, causing her to still as her blood ran cold. "You little wench! You have only been deposed a few days ago and yet you have started to whore around the palace. Che, a woman like you should be rid of her head, don’t you think so, ambassador?" He said without looking away from the mark his eyes had fallen on at the side of her neck.

Edward couldn’t help but wonder if the wench had gone to see Caelan in secret again, as that nephew of his was something else when it came to this wench of a woman. He wanted so badly to kill this woman and feed her filthy blood to his underworld dogs, as only his dogs would take the blood of a human. He wouldn’t be caught dead having human blood when their nature was to feed on witches’ blood. They were the creatures of the night, after all—creatures born to feast on witches’ blood to maintain their lifespan and human disguise.

He and his dear sister had gone through the trouble for years of keeping their fake disguise as the royals of the East Kingdom who were sent to marry the Emperor. Edward had been the one to kill the real Princess of the East Kingdom just so his sister could step into this imperial palace and complete their mission to bring the underworld creatures to the human world. His sister had even given birth to the Emperor’s child all for this, but this damned Selene. She had not only failed their mission but was on the path of distracting Caelan from what he ought to be doing.

He raised the sword, ready to cut her neck, when Aaron stepped forward, but before he could even speak, the ambassador had spoken, a smile playing on his lips as he caught sight of the mark on her neck and also saw the swell of her ripe bosom as she bent down in that position to pick up the fallen parchment papers.

"Let the girl go, just like Prince Aaron said, it was a harmless mistake." He said to Edward, who reluctantly withdrew his sword from her neck. If he wasn’t so hellbent on making the ambassador support Caelan’s rise to the throne, he wouldn’t have listened and would have cut her useless neck off. But because he was on a mission to bring this man and the first prince of the Banzai Kingdom to their side, he let her off, but there was always a next time.

"Young lady, look up here," said the ambassador to Ave, who had frozen in place as she thought Edward would really kill her. Her body was still shaking slightly when she heard the ambassador’s words and looked up at him, only to be met with the lecherous gaze of the man. He had told her to look up, but his own eyes were on her chest, and she hurriedly pulled her hair down to cover her neck and chest.

She felt disgusted by his gaze but fought down the urge to punch his lecherous eyes. It made her skin crawl so badly she wanted to wash herself up like he’d touched her. She had caught Lucian staring at her bosom a few times, but she had never felt disgusted by it—instead, feeling all heated up. But now, if she could really gouge out this person’s eyes, she would.

"You are one beautiful thing, my dear," he remarked as he looked away from her bosom to her face. "You may leave, you are forgiven for your mistake," he said while his gaze roamed her body when she stood up to her feet after picking up the papers. She held them out, and Aaron was the one to step forward and take them from her hand. His expression hardened like stone for some reason, but once his eyes fell on her, they softened, and he muttered under his breath after taking the papers:

"Be careful next time, and try to avoid men like this by letting your hair down." He stepped back and allowed her to pass.

Ave hurried away while the ambassador’s eyes followed her until she disappeared around the corner. He then turned back to Aaron and said, "You may leave and continue to mingle with your friends. Lord Edward and I have some discussions to do in private."

"Why can’t I come along with you, Your Grace? I reckon whatever discussion this is, it must have something to do with our kingdom. And as the first and only prince of Banzai, I have the right to be a part of it." Aaron said with a nonchalant smile on his face as his dark eyes locked on the ambassador’s, who forced a smile.

"You can come along if you want to, but from that scream I’m hearing coming from the garden, your lion must be terrorizing the guests. You wouldn’t want her eating another human after the servant boy she ripped apart this morning, would you?"

Aaron’s jaw clenched, but the smile didn’t fall from his face. Hearing the scream, he had no choice but to go and check as he wouldn’t want Annala ripping a royal guest apart. Even though he wanted to hear what this private discussion could be and had a gut feeling it must be about Selene, he handed the parchment papers to Lord Edward and left them to proceed on without him.

When he left, Edward turned to the ambassador and clicked his tongue, "This boy rubs me the wrong way sometimes. And sometimes I wonder why the Banzai Kingdom king hid that he had a son until he was already the age of twelve before it was known to us. And now that he is all grown up, he acts like he is already a king." He remarked, not liking Aaron even from the start, and now he disliked the boy even more as he seemed against the ambassador siding with Caelan.

A few years ago, no one knew about the prince. The Banzai Kingdom was only known for having many princesses without a prince, as all the consorts were said to have not been blessed with a son. But all of a sudden, when they came for the Emperor’s birthday ceremony years ago, the twelve-year-old Prince Aaron had come with them, and they’d been told he was Queen Katrina’s son, who the Emperor had wanted to keep hidden until he was old enough to protect himself from those who would want to harm the only son.

Edward would have doubted that, as that was absurd on his part for one to be able to hide a son without anyone knowing in the palace—if the prince didn’t look so much like the King of Banzai. Nonetheless, he didn’t like the young man and had a feeling something was strange since then, but he hadn’t been able to pinpoint what that was. And whenever he saw the prince, his suspicion about the prince upbringing heightened even more.

The ambassador chuckled dryly, "Prince Aaron can be a pain in the neck, but he is the pride of Banzai, being the only son of the king. Despite that it was said he has been raised by his mother, Queen Katrina, in hiding until he was twelve, he is loved by our king. And as you can see, he cares about his sister so much he would only support the man she marries to be the next Emperor, which is why you and I need to work together if you want me to convince him to switch sides."

Edward liked the sound of that and turned to look at the ambassador with interest, while forgetting about Aaron, whom he was suddenly interested in his upbringing again.

"And what does His Grace want me to do so we can work together?" He asked, already having a hint of what it would be.

"About that girl who just bumped into me, I want her in my chamber and in my bed by tomorrow night after the ceremony is over." He smiled, his eyes brightening up at the thought of having her sprawled naked in his bed. She had caught his interest, and any woman who caught his interest never escaped without him having a taste of her body.

Edward grinned, "You can rest assured that I will prepare that for you, Your Grace. You can count on me for that."
