Transmigrated as the Novel's Final Boss
Chapter 136:An Extension [2]

Chapter 136: Chapter 136:An Extension [2]

Gazing at me in pure silence with a blank expression, Daisy paused before kneeling down and rolling up her sleeping bag.

Seemingly noticing me awkwardly standing still, she said.

"I’ll take care of your bag. Remember, as far as anyone else is concerned, I was never here."

Feeling a gust of wind rush against my bare skin, I grabbed my collared shirt, which was stained with blood-red marks, and reluctantly put it on.

The dry blood stuck to my skin, but alas, the uncomfortable feeling was nothing compared to yesterday.

Sitting outside the rock overhang with the sun shining down at me, I peered down the cliff, just now noticing how high up Daisy had taken me.

White puffy clouds, resembling balls of cotton candy, floated below us, covering the view downward, and only the sun remained above.

I wondered what had happened down there?

Had any students died...?

In the original, there had been a couple of deaths, so even after everything I had done, it was possible that this world would adhere to the book and have students die anyway, just in a different way.

Turning around and looking up at the mountain, I felt a sudden surge of energy coursing through my body.

We were so high up, in fact, that...the summit was literally a few yards above me.

That extra credit point would come in really handy when midterms came around...

Standing up, with the bandage covering my right eye, I stumbled around for a bit before finally spotting a small trail in the mountain leading upward.

Seeing Daisy rolling up the sleeping bag that I had slept in, my head suddenly ached as her image overlapped with another person’s.

It reminded me...of something else.

Standing in the bathroom and brushing my teeth, I always recalled looking through the door and seeing my mother making my bed so that when I came home, my room would be clean.

Letting a slight smile creep onto my face, I yelled out before climbing the path upward, waving my hand at her kneeling figure.

"Thanks for saving my life, professor!"

Instantly, Daisy’s head swiveled around like an owl as her gaze locked onto me with a confused expression.

Was that the reaction she had expected from me?

Usually, during training, I would mutter insults and curses at her harsh regimen, not letting a single word of gratitude or kindness escape my mouth.

It was funny.

Not because of my near-death experience, but because of a memory of my mom cleaning my room, I recalled the meaning of gratitude.

Maybe I took the people around me for granted too much.

Perhaps, the memories of my mother and my past life wouldn’t disappear after all.

As the slope of the path became steep and steeper, eventually becoming just a wall, I sighed and grabbed at the rocks poking out of the walls, pulling myself up.

Considering everything, I really was lucky.

I had come out of this trip with a new and unknown magical artifact alongside an extra credit point!

Glaive Academy would probably reward me a tiny bit for initially holding off the first wave of wolves, but nothing compared to Coal’s group, which "took" out Fenrir.

I didn’t feel angry at that, though.

I couldn’t get everything...sometimes, I had just to learn to let things go and move on.

Climbing over one last wall, I momentarily looked backward at the stunning view of the clouds and light-blue sky before turning around.

The peak of the mountain was shaped in a circle, like a volcano, and before me lay a decently flat path upward.

As constant gusts of wind blew at my face, pushing me backward and away from the mountain summit, I desperately covered my chest.

Dry blood appeared all over my white sleeves, which I had used to cover my eyes, and especially my collar, which was right below my eyes.

Finally, reaching a set of stairs that led up to the summit, I was surprised to find a group of four figures already up.

Sitting on the edge of the circular mountain peak, they stared downward at the view in silence, seemingly taking in the moment.

Ah, right...they had actually spent over eight hours climbing this mountain, unlike me, who had just been brought here by my professor.

The feeling of accomplishment they probably received upon reaching the top was probably exhilarating and amazing.

Perhaps I could have something like that one day.

Stepping onto the flat circle at the very top of the mountain, which seemed to be made of a pitch-black and hard substance, I spotted a blue orb in the very middle.

That was probably how Professor Donna was tracking us.

As I placed my hand on the blue orb, letting a portion of mana particles leak out into it, one of the figures suddenly turned around, revealing a familiar face.

Seeing the familiar brown hair and raised eyebrows, I narrowed my eyes and questioned in a confused tone.

"Zeke?"

"The one and only!"

Pausing, Zeke looked past me, at the staircase below, for a couple of seconds, his expression gradually transforming into a frown.

"Where’s...your group?"

Stepping away from the orb sitting on another edge of the circle, with my feet dangling downward, I responded.

"What group?"

His expression was now completely blank, his eyes dull, and his mouth closed. Zeke muttered.

"You mean to tell me...you climbed this mountain for eight hours straight with no company whatsoever."

"And to top it all off, you don’t even really care about your studies that much, so this extra credit point isn’t even that important to you."

Zeke would probably find out I was lying anyway when I was rewarded by Glaive for attacking the wolfs, so I decided to joke around.

"You didn’t?"

"..."

Looking back at his four comrades, who all seemed to be Worldly students, Zeke gazed at their backs for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh.

"You’re fucking insane."

Looking downward, I smiled and answered.

"I prefer misunderstood."
