Chapter 73: Remind me never to piss you off
I turn towards Storm, whom we didn’t notice his presence until he came close.
"Who else but—"
I covered Ray’s mouth, preventing him from speaking a word. With my eyes narrowed at him, I made a zip-it gesture. He nodded, looking a bit scared.
"What’s going on, Strawberry? Why did you prevent him from speaking?" Storm asked with a confused expression on his face, and his eyes narrowed at the palm which I covered Ray’s mouth with. He folded his arms, "what are you trying to hide?"
"Nothing!" I forced a smile, looking more like a clown with the way I stretched my lips, to accommodate the smile.
"Nothing?" He looked doubtful with his eyes trained on Ray as if asking him to come clean.
"We were just talking about the new assessment. The physical education teacher made us stack books because of the new assessment they are trying to implement. Oh, my damn goddess!" I dramatically removed my palm from Ray’s mouth.
Ray cast a dark look at me but didn’t say a word. He might have understood what I wanted him to.
"Oh, was that where you went?" Storm asked, looking like he believed my words. The suspicious gleam in his eyes wasn’t there any more.
"Yeah."
"Explains why you weren’t at the cafeteria. I went over to check on you, but didn’t see you." He took my bag from me, and slung it over his shoulder, "let’s get to class."
"And Theo?" I asked for Ray’s sake because I know he’s dying to know where the other Alpha is, but is too shy to voice his questions.
"He’s coming over. Went to get our bags from our class. I was just too impatient to see you, that was why I didn’t wait." He leaned down to kiss me, "did you miss me?"
"Of course," I blushed.
Who wouldn’t miss their handsome boyfriend? With Storm next to me, I forgot all about Mr Kim and his threats. For now, I will just learn how to avoid him, and that includes not going anywhere without either Ray or Storm.
I don’t need a repeat of the night ago. Else, I might just die if...
Wait a minute, Fan said the new benefit I got was strength, right? I flexed my arms. Seems I’m capable of throwing a punch or two.
"Are you okay?" Storm touched me.
"No, I want to throw a punch."
To know just how strong I am.
"A punch?" He looked confused, same with Ray, who gaped at me as if I had somehow lost it.
"Hmm," I flexed my right arm. "I just need to check my strength, that’s all."
I need to know if Fan scammed me since I haven’t tried out the flexibility yet. I don’t even know how to try it out. Should I do the splits or try to bend at an uncomfortable angle?
"Punch me," Storm said in a serious tone.
"What?"
"You heard me right. Punch me, Strawberry."
I stared at his face, "you asked for this, right?"
"Hmm."
With a smile on my face, I swung my arm before I landed a blow on his face, sending him miles down the hall.
"Storm!" I yelled, not mindful of the class going on not too far from us. I ran over to him and knelt on the floor. "Are you okay?"
He was cradling his nose with his palm when I arrived. "Remind me never to piss you off," he deadpanned.
******
Things went well for four days. I didn’t see Sky, and neither was there a sign of Mr Kim. I spent all my nights at the Alphas’ dorm —you can’t fault me about that. When you have a boyfriend as handsome as Storm, you will also try to keep him company each night, so he won’t get lonely.
Moreover, I now bear his mark. It’s not as if I can cut ties with him whenever I wish to.
I stared at the trees, trying to get the exact drawing of the leaves dancing to the gentle wind blowing on them.
Ray, Theo, and Storm were assigned to the other part of the garden, while I was out here with a few of the students.
The new curriculum that was added to our study is Life Art, or whatever they call that. It’s not as if it will help me in life. Yet, here I am, trying to draw a freaking leaf!
Argh.
How did I end up in this school?
"Your leaves look like childish scribbles," someone said behind me. I turned, already aware of whom the person was. Sky stood next to me with a smile as he peered down at my drawing.
"Sky!" I hastily rose from the bench I was sitting on, not mindful of the dark glares it earned me. "Goddess, where have you been, Sky?"
He smiled, "I’m still processing my transfer. It will be completed Tonight. I will leave in two days," he smiled down at me.
I can’t pinpoint it, but I felt like he has changed. His face doesn’t seem as familiar as before. I scrunched my nose, trying to understand why there was such a notable change in him.
"Wow, remind me of it. I need to escort you to the gates," I smiled at him. I might not be able to return his feelings, but that doesn’t mean that he’s not my friend.
Sky is as much of a friend as Ray.
"About that," he ran a hand through his head, suddenly looking a bit nervous. "You asked for what I was doing in the great forest, didn’t you?"
"Hmm."
To say I was shocked when he said those words will be an understatement. I gaped at him like a fool.
"Come on, I will take you over there to see what it is," he smiled once more. But this time, it looked a bit forced.
"But...." I glanced around at the students who were drawing. "We are having an –"
"I took an excuse from Mr Kim. Come on, let me take you there."
Before I could say a word, he was already dragging me across the school and away from the other students.
