Chapter 72: A possessive threat
Breakfast went faster than I would have loved, leaving me to go to classes alone. Storm went over to the dean’s office, to talk about a change of class, with Theo, who was reluctant to leave his friend. They seemed too attached that they follow one another wherever they go.
I smiled as I followed Ray, who hasn’t ceased talking about Theo. I don’t need to ask to know that my friend has fallen for the Alpha who threatened to kill me should I hurt his best friend.
"What do you think of him?" He asked, on our way to our last class for the day. We missed lunch break because our physical education teacher asked us to help her sort some things out. That was why we were delayed a bit.
We missed lunch and had to rely solely on the snacks she got for us during that time.
"Brys?"
"I think he’s okay." I smiled at him, "you love him, don’t you?"
"I don’t know about love, but I think he’s cute," Ray smiled like a fool in love.
"Hmm, what of Sky? Have you forgotten him al—"
"Don’t remind me of that damned fool! I’m done with everything related to him. I don’t love him any more. Hell, I don’t even think I love him. I was just comfortable with the idea of him, but I should have known that you have always been the one in his heart."
I gasped at his words, "You knew." It wasn’t a question because his words right not confirmed it.
He shrugged, "Why shouldn’t I? I fell for him because of how good he was to you. You can say I wanted someone who could take care of me. However, his eyes have always been on you.
But you never noticed. You were too busy staring daggers at your boyfriend, to know about the Beta, who looks at you like you hung the sun up in the sky. He admires you, Brys."
"I rejected him."
"I know," he smiled. "I was there on the day he confessed to you, but I left before I could hear your reply. It wasn’t until I saw him run out did I know it didn’t go well."
"You saw us? But you were...."
"At the cafeteria?" He scoffed. "I followed you because I was curious."
"That’s stalking!"
"No, it’s love."
"Love, you damn fool. I will...." My mouth went dry when I saw the man I was trying to avoid without knowing I was avoiding.
Mr Kim stood at the corner of my last class for the day, with his arms folded, and brows raised at me.
It wasn’t until I saw him that I noticed how deserted the hall was. There was no sign of students aside from Ray and me.
My heart skipped a beat when his mouth curved up in a smile. It felt like ants were crawling on my skin when he gave me a once-over.
I glanced around as if I were expecting Storm to appear.
"Brys, are you okay?" Ray asked. He hasn’t seen the principal because he was thinking about Theo, his new object of admiration.
"Yeah," I cleared my throat. I pretended like I didn’t see Mr Kim by taking Ray’s hand and attempting to walk past him.
"Brys."
I froze at the cold call. All the blood drained from my face.
"What do you want?" I gripped Ray’s hand tight until he yelped, prompting me to let go of his hand as I tried not to show how scared I was of the man in front of me.
Mr Kim’s blue, cold eyes racked through my body before a smile graces his face. He closed the distance between us, with a predatory glint in his eyes.
I gulped with my eyes locked with his.
He leaned down, fanning my neck with his breath, "he might have marked you, but I have a way to remove the mark." He leaned in closer, "you have been mine since the first day I set my eyes on you. I don’t care that you have been tainted by another. I will fuck you hard until you can only think of me." He blew on my neck before he straightened.
I was frozen, with my heart beating so loud in my chest, I knew they must have heard the sound.
"Don’t forget what I said, Brys. Expect my actions — soon." He turned and returned the way we came, while I stood like a statue.
I would have probably stood that way for a long time had Ray not touched me, breaking through whatever spell he might have cast on me.
"Brys? What did he say to you?" He stared into my face.
"You didn’t hear it?" I frowned. Mr Kim’s words weren’t that whispered that a werewolf with advanced hearing couldn’t hear a thing.
"No, I didn’t." He shook his head, "he whispered it to you, so I didn’t hear a thing."
Well, that’s a good thing. This way, my friend won’t tell Storm what Mr Kim said. From now on, I just have to avoid him like a plague, so I won’t see him.
I shrugged, "he was just reminding me to visit his office. His parrot missed me —his words, not mine," I forced a smile, so he wouldn’t suspect anything.
He furrowed suspicious brows at me, "you looked too shocked. Why will you look so scared if all he asked you to check was his parrot?" He looked suspicious.
I gulped.
Ray isn’t still the gullible boy he was on the first day we met. I need to think of the right lie to cover up.
"Well, you see. He knows how much I love parrots. That was why he threatened to throw Jammy down his window."
"Goddess, that’s too harsh! Why will he wish to throw the poor thing out of the window?" He gasped.
I shrugged, "he said it was making a lot of noises with my name. That was why. I bet it’s his way of making me come over to check on his parrot."
"But that’s too harsh of a threat. He sounds wicked!"
"Who sounds wicked?"
