Chapter 148: What’s wrong with the princes?

"Not so bad." I smiled at Fan, who looked like he wouldn’t think twice about getting rid of me if he had the ability. "The system is turning out to be my favourite."

I lifted my shirt, to look at my toned stomach. Something others worked so hard for every day in the gym, I got it just because I worked so hard to get Storm to fall for me. When you put it that way, it also took hard work to earn this.

I let go of my shirt and touched my face. "Now, I’m confident there’s no one in the entire kingdom as pretty as I am, not even the women."

"You are vain, you know?"

I winked at him. "I learned from you, Fan."

"That’s a lie. I’m not like you!"

"Who was it that gave me options of a bouncy arse and flirty smiles?"

He shut up at that. Letting out a fake yawn, he glanced down at a non-existent wristwatch. "If that’s all, I need to complete my task today. Call me when you need something else, and it better be something important!"

"Go on." I blew a kiss at him, chuckling when he rolled his little eyes. He muttered some words under his breath, but I didn’t care to listen to any. I just plopped down on the bed, thinking of how to accomplish my tasks. I had to work against time to find the bug, so I would enter the forest to meet Storm.

I couldn’t afford to be lazy. I had to get everything sorted out, so I could meet my Storm and get out of the world.

Before that, I need to get to the root of the matter with this strange family. They all claimed they hadn’t seen Theo before, but they didn’t act that surprised when they saw him walk in with Phil during dinner.

I could tell they were lying about not seeing him for the first time. If they did, why did they lie to me? Why make him sound so mysterious when he wasn’t? I needed answers and had to work for it. Fan wouldn’t help. That was obvious enough.

I found May in his wing like I knew I would. Though he was the most friendly among the princes, he was the most suspicious. With him being from Earth and on a mission he couldn’t recall, I perceived he was hiding something.

"Look who we have here," he said with a smile when I stepped into his room. He was playing a game when I got in, and he had to pause it to give me his attention. "What do I owe the honour of this visit, darling?"

"Storm isn’t home," I said, lifting my shoulders in a shrug. "He’s not here to stop me from doing what I want." I plopped down on the couch and looked at his TV. "You sure are having fun."

"Well, there’s nothing to do in this place." He let out a yawn and stretched. "I was thinking of seeking you out before you came," he said, getting to his feet. "Do you wish to take a walk with me?" He offered his hand to me.

"I don’t think —"

"Are you worried about the gossip that might bring? Don’t you realize being in my room will earn you more than taking a stroll with me will do?" He lifted a brow.

"When you put it that way..." I gave him my right hand, and he helped me up from the couch, grinning when I almost fell on his chest.

I cleared my throat and took a step back while he watched. His eyes seemed more intense as he stared at me.

"You are beautiful," he whispered, taking me off guard.

I blinked, looking at him with a confused expression. "Well ... That was... Random"

He lifted his shoulders in a shrug. "I’m not lying, though."

"I guess." I ran my fingers through my hair, and his eyes immediately went to my exposed stomach. I had to let my hand down fast to cover that piece of my body. It wasn’t for just anyone to feast their eyes on. That place is reserved only for my Storm.

He cleared his throat and averted his gaze. When he looked back at me, his cheeks were still red, but he wasn’t staring.

"Let’s go." He started for the door and I followed.

"How long will you stay in this world?" He said, turning to face me.

"I don’t know," I lied. It wasn’t like he wasn’t lying either. "I’m just taking it a day at a time. Anytime my system thinks it’s time to leave, then I will. I doubt I have a say about that."

If I could, I would have asked to remain in Dark Moon. I loved it there, everything about it.

"Same." He smiled, showing off his pearly white teeth. May doesn’t look bad, with a face that would earn him many gigs as a model and actor. He has the looks and the body, and he knew that.

"What if you don’t leave?" I asked, to keep up with the conversation.

"It won’t make any difference. I will just stay here, find someone I will spend the rest of my life with, and start a family with them." He stared at me as he said those words, and I knew he was talking about me.

Oh, goddess. What’s with all these princes looking at me like I was a prize to be won? I wouldn’t even be surprised if they ever have a tournament one day to fight over me, not that I will go with any of them. My heart only recognizes one person. Storm.

"What about you? Will you stay here if you are allowed to"

"I guess. That’s if Storm is here," I added that, to let him know I had no interest in whatever thoughts he was having about me and the future.

The smile on his face vanished, replaced by a solid mask. He nodded and turned his back to me, resuming his walk. I knew, as I walked behind him that I had made him angry or even sad, but it wasn’t my fault.
