Transmigrated As A Feisty Omega
Chapter 143: Is he real?

Chapter 143: Is he real?

STORM

I didn’t know what I was expecting when I took up this task. I knew it was dangerous. This trip might cost me my life. I understood all about that, but took it up, to show my siblings and parents that I was qualified. More than that, I wanted to prove to Brys that I was strong enough to keep him safe. I had seen it in his gaze and could tell that he could keep himself safe. I’d never seen an Omega like him.

Though I tried not to think of how strong he was, I couldn’t help but recall how he had stood up to me. I’d never heard of an Omega who could take an alpha head-on. He was unlike any Omega I had ever seen. My Omega.

Brys came into my life like a damned thief. He wasn’t like any other thief though. He came for my heart. Despite how much I tried to fight him off, to protect my heart from him, he succeeded. He made me fall deeply in love with him even though I will never be caught dead telling him that.

The Omega I was supposed to kill, the one whose father tortured me, was the one who made me open my heart. The irony of life.

It was funny how I changed for him. I didn’t even notice it until it was too late. A ruthless and stubborn playboy like me ended up being a soft man who could only be satisfied by a man.

If all the men I had rejected and the ones I slept with could see me, I believe they wouldn’t recognize me. Brys changed me. He unapologetically did.

I glanced around the forest. Though thoughts of my pretty Omega kept me occupied, I knew it wouldn’t be enough to help me through this maze. For the past few hours, I had been walking in circles. I perceived that as I made a marking on a tree. It was the tenth time I had circled back to it.

Whatever was in this forest was too strong. Father mentioned this in passing. Though he never told me much about his experience in the forest as it was supposed to be a secret, he spoke of the maze forest. He stayed in it for a week.

Yeah, you read that right.

A bloody week before he left, and that was after he got through the obstacle. He never mentioned to me what the obstacle was. The only thing he told me was to always keep my eyes and ears open and to always discern what was real and what was not.

"I guess I will have to stay here for the night," I said out loud as I sat on the ground and leaned on the tree I had marked.

There was no sense of time in the forest. While it was light out when I stepped into the forest, it was evening here. From what little father could disclose, I learned the forest was always like this. There’s no season in here.

I let out another sigh as I made to close my eyes, only to sit up when I heard a familiar voice.

There was no way I’d ever mistake that voice. Though we had only been together for a few weeks, I recognised his voice.

I sat up on the ground and glanced around. Even though I knew he couldn’t be in the forest, I couldn’t help the skip of my heart at the thought of seeing my Omega. I felt... Oddly excited.

For a moment, I didn’t think of how strange everything was and how impossible it was for him to enter the woods. Not only did he have no royal blood in him, but he was not from my kingdom.

Brys walking into the forest unscathed was next to impossible. He would be torn limp by limp the second his foot stepped over the line.

My mind must have conjured his voice. With my thoughts filled with the Omega all day, it wasn’t impossible for my mind not to do that.

"Storm!"

This time, there was no mistake about it. I didn’t just conjure his voice, I heard it. He sounded like he was close to me.

"Brys?" I got up from the ground, still puzzled. "Brys? Are you the one? Where are you?"

"Over here!" His response came almost immediately. "Where are you?" He repeated my question.

I gulped as I looked around the eerie forest. Oddly enough, it seemed more foreboding than it was a few minutes ago.

For the first time since I stepped into the forest, I was faced with the forest I had heard of.

The trees seemed to loom over me, their branches like skeletal fingers reaching out to snatch me. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves, and the silence was oppressive.

It seemed like I was seeing the real forest, the one I was told about.

I shivered, despite the warmth of the summer evening, and called out again, "Brys, where are you? I don’t see you!"

"Follow my voice!" he replied, his tone urgent. "I’m over here, near the old oak tree. Hurry, Storm!"

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should trust my ears. But something about Brys’s voice sounded genuine, and I found myself moving towards the sound, my senses on high alert. I needed to get to his side to know if my mind was playing tricks on me.

Or it could be the forest doing that. I couldn’t tell anymore.

As I walked, the trees seemed to close in around me, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. I stumbled over roots and fallen branches, my heart pounding in my chest.

The forest was silent. Aside from my feet stepping on dry twigs and Brys’ occasional call, no other sounds could be heard.

"Brys?" I called out again, my voice barely above a whisper.

"I’m here," he replied, his voice getting farther away. It seemed like the nearer I got to him, the further he went. "Keep coming, Storm. I’ve got you."

"Just stay where you are. I will come to get you."
