Transmigrated As A Feisty Omega
Chapter 144: Suspicious

Chapter 144: Suspicious

I advanced towards the place I heard his voice. My heart kept on beating loudly in my chest the nearer I got to him. I walked around the large tree and that was when I saw him. My Omega. He was sitting on the ground, looking up with his wide expressive purple eyes, the same I fell irrevocably in love with.

"Storm," he whispered, peering up at me. "What took you so long?" He accused, turning his mouth up in a pout.

Brys was dressed in the same clothes he wore when he waved me farewell to the rest of my family members.

"Brys?" I was still awed by what was happening. I couldn’t believe my eyes, couldn’t tell if I was hallucinating. Brys was right in front of me, unscathed, in a forest that was rumoured to kill any who weren’t part of the royal line.

Had that always been lies? It seemed to be the case. Our ancestors must have made it up to prevent anyone from stepping into it.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He frowned, wrinkling his nose. "Are you going to help me up, or will you continue staring at me like a fool?" He snapped.

His words should have angered me, but it didn’t.

"I’m sorry." I reached out for him and helped him up. "I was just too stunned to see you. How did you get here?" I gave him a once over, to be certain he wasn’t wounded, and he wasn’t. He looked like he always did, with his unblemished skin and beautiful face. There was no sweat on his forehead. He didn’t even look as if he walked a distance at all.

He lifted his shoulders in a shrug, with his lips still pursed. "I followed you."

"Oh."

Though there was a nagging feeling that something wasn’t adding up, I couldn’t deny my joy. It seemed like the gods wanted to compensate me by bringing him over, knowing how much I had been thinking about him.

"So? Where are we going?" He looked around the forest with a bored expression on his face. He didn’t seem that spooked by the eerie place. You would have thought we were walking through a garden that had flowers that hadn’t bloomed just yet.

"This place is a maze," I responded, ignoring that insistent feeling. "I don’t know where to go, so I will —"

"Oh, I know the way." He smiled at me, revealing his nice set of teeth. Have I ever mentioned how beautiful my Omega is? I had seen no one as pretty as him. He took the crown, with his face and his shape. Had I not known better, I would have believed he was a woman disguised as a man.

"You know the way?" I blinked, focusing on the present, so I wouldn’t get drowned in a path I didn’t wish to tread — until we get to a nice place, that is.

"Yeah." He nodded, smiling again. "You just have to trust me. I will get us out of here in a few —"

"How did you know about it?" My suspicion was getting over the peak. "Have you ever been here before?"

"Not at all." The smile didn’t leave his lips. "I heard your father talking about this place, so I got as many pieces of information as I could. You just need to follow me, okay?" He turned to leave. "I know a shortcut. It will take you straight to the middle of the forest where the staff is. You don’t need to prove yourself to anything. You have got me."

I didn’t know what to do or how to react. Though the nagging feeling intensified, I couldn’t help but believe him. There was nothing not to believe. This was my Brys.

"Come on," he beckoned for me when I didn’t follow him immediately. "Don’t tell me you want to stay in this forest until you get old?"

"Of course not."

Well....

It didn’t sound that bad, though. With Brys here, I wouldn’t have to fear being alone. We could build a house here and grow old together. It would be like a romantic trip with no end.

My legs followed Brys towards the path, that didn’t seem that welcoming. The trees that lined the path, looked like claws, ready to rip my heart out should I venture deeper. I stopped and glanced around. Unlike the part of the forest I was in before I heard his call, this side looked ominous like there was danger lurking on every side.

"Brys?" I called to him, causing him to stop.

"What’s wrong? Why are you standing there?" He frowned when he realized I was still standing at the entrance. "Come on. You need to hurry, else this —"

"I don’t trust this place." I shook my head, looking into the dark, at the trees that had somehow changed to resemble normal ones. Gone were the claw-like branches.

"You don’t trust this place, or you don’t trust me?" He narrowed his eyes at me. "I have been with you for a long time, and you still don’t trust me?" He laughed, the sound bitter to the ear. "I can’t believe I risked my life to walk into this forest for you only to be doubted by my lover?"

"I’m not doubting you. I just... Can you step out for just a moment? I need to speak to you about something."

"Why don’t you come to me." He smiled, the expression enticing. "Come over to me, Storm."

I felt my leg move at his call, but I stopped it before I could go nearer to the entrance of the path. My guts had never been wrong. That nagging feeling didn’t stop. It only intensified.

"I... Can you answer a question I have?" I asked, instead of telling him how dangerous the path looked.

"A question?"

"Yes. I seem to have forgotten how we met. Can you tell me about it?" I smiled at him, keeping my expression neutral so he wouldn’t read into it.

"How we meet?" He frowned. "Why are you suddenly asking about that?"

"I just want to know."
