Transmigrated As A Feisty Omega -
Chapter 140: Farewell
Chapter 140: Farewell
And I did the world justice by biting his lower lip, and that caused him to scream out, which is something I love.
I took a step back from him as a frown marred my features.
"I don’t know what your conversation with your mother is about, and neither do I know what you are talking about. Regardless, if you so badly need to know what I discussed with your mother, you can ask her." I took up my comic once more, turned my back to him and continued to read it, while he stood in front of me, looking like he was ready to hit me on the head.
It was how we stayed until I closed my comic, and went to the bathroom to ease myself before I plopped down on the bed with a yawn. He was still in the position he was in when I went to the bathroom, staring hard at my chair.
"Good night!"
I couldn’t tell when he joined me in the bed, but I woke to his arms wrapped around my body. With a smile, I burrowed into his embrace, inhaling his sweet orange scent.
For a moment, it felt like I had teleported back to Dark Moon, where Storm isn’t a psycho.
****
Throughout the week, Storm treated me well. It was a wonder how he got to change from the always grumpy man to a nice gentleman. And that was enough to raise my hackles. I just don’t trust him when it comes to something like this.
I know deep down that it has to do with whatever conversation he had with his mother. Perhaps, it has something along the lines of ’you better treat him well else your title of the crown prince will be ripped from you.’
Kim has been a good boy —not that I’m all that older than him in this life. But, come on — the entire time. I visit him every afternoon and get to hear him tell me stories about how much he misses his kingdom and every other thing.
None of us have ever spoken about Storm’s accusations, and I know we might never do that. We have been skidding around the topic as much as we could.
The issue of the bug that might be at this level is still something I haven’t gotten much about. Aside from helping Theo with Ray — which I’m having difficulty with — I haven’t done anything productive, and I haven’t seen Fan since the time he came to mock me.
It seemed like every other thing had been paused, and I loved it like that, trying not to think of the Future, but worried about my babies.
The next time I visit them, I will be able to see who they look like. Preferably? I would love them to look like their father.
Okay.
And also have a bit of myself in them.
"Are you leaving today?" I plopped down on the bed and watched Storm as he got dressed for the quest. It has been a week of me trying not to think of his impending quest. And so far, I have been successful, but now, it’s time to face reality.
"Mm."
Oddly enough, he only took his hunting gear with him, and nothing else. Well, aside from a change of wrapper.
Two days ago, he had three more tattoos inked on his body, and they haven’t properly healed. Yet, he’s acting as if he’s not bothered by it all. They are still so red, making me what was used to make them.
"When are you returning?"
"Why? So you can wh—" He gulped when his eyes locked with mine before he turned his head to the side, looking a bit uncomfortable.
Good.
Now, he’s learning.
If it were before our argument, he would have called me a whore, causally throwing the word around like it means nothing.
"When are you returning?" I asked once more.
He shrugged, "I don’t know. It all depends on the forest," he ran his right fingers through his hair. "For years, the Alpha heirs have always gone into the forest to prove their eligibility to the throne, and willingness to serve the kingdom.
It has been something that’s passed down from generation. My father stayed a month before he was qualified to return."
"His father after him?" I sat up on the bed.
"... Well, you see ... Uhmmm... He never returned."
"What?!" I gaped at him, "what the hell did you just say? Did anyone know what happened to him? What of your father? Did he meet his father when he went there? How certain are you that you will return? What if something happens to you when you go over there? Is there a guarantee —?
"Calm down, Brys," he chuckled, smiling genuinely for the first time since I came to the world. It wasn’t a grimace, and neither was it a smirk. The smile on his face was so genuine, it showed in the glint he had in his eyes.
I couldn’t even help myself as I mirrored the expression on his face, smiling a bit despite how apprehensive I was about him.
"You don’t have to worry about me. Like my father before me, I will return," he took a step towards me, only to freeze. He blinked, looking as if he didn’t know when he took the step.
"Are you okay?"
"... Yes!" He turned his back to me, but I could tell how confused he was. "I’m good," he turned his back to me, only to turn once more to face me. This time, he closed the distance between us, and knelt on the ground, placing both hands on my thighs.
"I need you to be safe, Brys," he stared into my eyes with so much care in his eyes that it took my breath away.
For the first time, I saw the exact Storm I left in Dark Moon. "I asked Ray to take care of you in my absence, and he will do that. All I need is for you to promise that you won’t do anything to jeopardize your life."
