Chapter 126: Did he arrive before me?
Chapter 126: Did he arrive before me?
"Come on," she took my hand in hers before I could so much as blink, and she dragged me towards the only bench in the garden when the maid ran off, only to return moments later with three guards in tow.
I sat next to the queen and watched as the guards hurled the wolves up from the floor like they weighed nothing.
"You couldn’t have come at a better time," the queen smiled at me, still holding my hand in hers and not willing to let go.
It’s funny how she’s acting this way with me when she treated me well back I’m Dark Moon just because I happened to be pregnant. It’s not that I’m complaining.
Having my mother-in-law dote on me is such a good feeling which I don’t wish to get rid of, not at all.
"Well," I nervously chuckled as I ran my left hand through my hair, smiling at her. "I happened to be at the right place at the right time," which I’m grateful for. Had I not been looking for Sky, I wouldn’t have been here in time to save the queen from the rogues.
"I’m so grateful for that," she smiled, sighing. "I thought I was about to die when I got ambushed while taking a walk with my maid. My husband asked me to take some guards with me, but I wanted a quiet time."
"How did they get in?" I glanced around the garden, wondering how easy it was for the rogues to come in when the entire place was protected by guards.
"An insider is giving them pieces of information," she sighed. "it’s —"
"My queen!" The king ran in, looking so dishevelled, as he closed the distance between us. It was obvious that he ran from his throne to this place when he heard about the attempted murder of his wife.
She rose and met him halfway, enveloping him in a hug. The lovers hugged each other so tightly.
"I’m glad you are okay," the king broke from the hug and stepped back. The moment his eyes landed on me, he looked embarrassed, at being caught being all lovey-dovey when his wife when someone else is watching them.
"Continue, don’t mind me at all," I winked at him, trying to let him know that I didn’t mind, not at all. They can kiss each other for all I care. I’m only concerned about my mission, and getting Storm’s parents to like me.
At least, things will be different this time. It won’t be like Dark Moon, where I was at loggerheads with them.
The queen got away from his embrace and closed the distance between us. She took my hand in hers with a smile, "this was the darling that helped me."
"Oh," the king strode towards us with a small smile on his face. His bald hair shone as the sun hit on it, and I would have laughed had it not been for his status. I don’t wish to annoy the king enough to have him throw me down the drain.
"Thank you very much, son," he smiled at me for the first time since we met. His teeth shone as he flashed them at me.
"It’s my pleasure," I mirrored the expression on his face, smiling without damned care in the entire world.
"I will have to treat you to a hearty meal, son," he clasped me on the back, still smiling at me.
For a moment, I tried to envision the current man as the one I met in Dark Moon, but I was unable to do so. Aside from sharing the same face, they don’t share any similarities at all.
"Thank you," I grinned at him, happy that Storm’s parents aren’t trying to be a damned hindrance in this world. Had that been the case, I would have had more than enough in my hands trying to get them to love me while making sure that Storm doesn’t kill me.

I spent the afternoon with the queen after the king returned to his throne room. We discussed many things, and it was how I discovered her unparalleled love for books. She took me to the library where she got some ancient texts. Though there were no comics there, I found some of the books I liked.
It wasn’t a bad experience at all. She’s such a jovial and fun-loving person, that it made me try to picture how someone like her got to have the sons she has.
One is a psycho who loves bloodshed more than anything. Another is a silent one who only speaks when he wishes. The first son is also a Psycho, according to the stories I heard from the others. And let’s not forget the one that tried to hurt me when I arrived in this palace.
The only one with a loveable trait that’s almost the same as that of the queen is May. He’s the only jovial person among her sons. The rest are just extra.
I had lunch with the queen before she left to tend to her gardens, while I took a walk around the garden before I started back the way I came.
Similar to when I left this morning, I saw no guard on the way. It’s odd that despite the assassination attempt on the queen, nothing has been done to increase the security in the palace. The guards are still acting as shadows, hiding without showing themselves.
"Mega," Phillip called out to me, and I turned when I heard his familiar voice.
I have lived with him long enough to know his voice.
"Phillip!" I called out, rushing towards him with a smile on my face. "Where are you going to?" I gave him a once over, starting from the tip of his hair down to the black wrapper he has around him.
Had I not known who he was, I would have thought he was one of the men in this kingdom because of the number of tattoos on his body.
"Looking for you," he shrugged. "I had to bribe one of the guards to tell me where you were. That was how I got to know that you were in the garden." He closed the distance between us and enveloped me in a bone-crushing hug, "I have missed you, Mega!"
Tears pricked the side of my eyes at the warm reception from my best friend. God, I have missed him so damned much that it hurts.
Though I hardly thought of him back in Dark Moon, there is no denying that I did miss him.
"I missed you too," I wrapped my hand around his waist, feeling a bit small because of his height.
He sniffed, "where the hell have you been, Mega?!" He continued to crush me with his hug.
"Here waiting for you."
We hugged for a long time before he released me from his hug, and stepped back.
"How did you get here?" I finally asked the question I had been dying to ask. Ever since I saw him, I have been trying to know how he got to be in this comic. It was a bit surprising to see someone from Earth in this comic.
"When you got involved in the accident, I had you sent to a hospital Where you were admitted — well, your body was. You were comatose, and I tried to contact your family, to tell them of what happened. I got them connected, and your mother took the next available flight to visit you.
Two days later, when I was on my way to the hospital, to visit you, I was also involved in an accident. But that wasn’t what was so shocking about it all.
I happened to wake in the body of a native man in this place. At first, I was trying to return to Earth, to my normal body, but I stopped after being tagged a madman, twice.
That was how I got here," he sighed, running his right fingers through his hair.
I watched him, dumbstruck, as his story was too much for me to grasp. Could it be that anyone who dies on Earth somehow finds themselves in this comic?
"So, how long have you been here? Two weeks or —"
"A year."
"What?!" I gaped at him. "How the hell did you manage to do that? I haven’t been gone for that long! You’ve got to be kidding me."
"No, I’m not. I have been keeping count since I got here," he shrugged, letting me know how serious he is. There is no trace of a smile on his face to show that he was joking.
"God, how the hell is that even possible? Could it be that I didn’t get to arrive here until you did?"
Perhaps, my spirit was walking the Earth until it was called to the comic by my will to live or the comic itself.
"I think that might be possible." He smiled at me, "I’m glad to see you here, Mega. You don’t know how much I missed you."
"You did what?!"
At the sound of the familiar voice, I turned to face a pissed Storm.
