Chapter 127: A suspicious man
He stood five paces from me with his blue eyes narrowed to slits at none other but Phillip.
"Storm," I took a step towards him, but Phillip stopped me by holding my hand in his.
"You can’t go to him, Mega," he explained when I turned to look at him, shocked that he dared to touch me in the presence of Storm, who looked ready to tear him limb by limb.
"Why?" I chanced a glance at Storm, and the expression on his face caused me to take a step back, shocked by the ferocity of that gaze.
He looked mad, and I knew it was because I was standing next to another man. He’s such a jealous man, who hates it when I’m next to other men.
It’s a wonder he hasn’t done anything beside glaring at me.
"He has a bad reputation, Mega. You have to listen to me. Everyone fears him. Don’t —"
"It’s okay," I placed my hand on his, and smiled at him, to ease his concern. "I have been with him long enough to know that he won’t hurt me. You don’t have to worry about me," I removed his hand from my wrist and took a step toward Storm, who had been watching me without saying a word.
"Storm, I —"
"I don’t need your useless explanation," he turned his back to me, "You can whore your body out for all I care, slut!" He stormed down the hall, without looking at me.
"Storm!" I tried to run after him, but Phillip stopped me. He held my wrist and stopped me.
"Let him leave, Mega. I can’t believe you are trying to run after someone who called you a slut!" He yelled in my face, gritting his teeth at me, "what the hell is wrong with you?"
I didn’t reply to his words. I turned and focused on Storm, who was storming down the hall.
"You don’t have to worry about him, Philip. He’s not as bad as you think he is," I finally turned to face my best friend.
"Not bad? Do you know what that prince did to a family that opposed him when he took their son to be a toy boy? He burnt the family alive and raped the boy to death!"
The way his eyes widened in shock was what caught my attention first before his words did. Shocked, I fully faced him.
"What the hell did you just say?"
I know I have heard about the deeds Storm did in this place, but none of them shocked me as much as this one did.
"That’s not much. You don’t know who you are up against. The prince is a damned murderer. He has done so many things that will warrant he rots in hell forever." He glanced at the hall before he leaned in towards me, "do you know he was kidnapped and raped when he was still a child?"

After the talk I had with Phillip, my mind was filled with so many questions. Storm of this world is a complicated soul. I thought I knew him, but it turned out that I knew nothing about him aside from the few things Ray told me.
Phillip was the one who told me most of the secrets they had been keeping from others. To sum up his words, Storm is a demon. He’s a beast who kills for fun, and the royals are willing to keep all of his deeds under wraps.
That was why I haven’t heard much about him. Most of the maids were threatened never to disclose the truth to anyone.
I left Phillip after having lunch with him —well, he was the one having lunch. I didn’t eat because my thoughts were still on Storm and all the things I heard about him from Phillip.
I strode down the now familiar hall, trying to retrace my steps back to his room, so I could confront him about his words earlier and the stories I heard from Phillip.
There are no doubts that the words he spoke are true. I have witnessed enough to know how heartless Storm is. He hasn’t been harsh on me, but there is no denying how he is with others. He’s a psycho, and I know he is.
A flash of red caught my attention. I turned, in time to see someone sneaking down the halls.
Without a moment of hesitation, I ran after the person, making sure to keep to the shadows to avoid being caught.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have minded the person, however, the way he was acting looked so damned suspicious that I had to know what was going on with them.
I was careful enough to follow him without being caught. Down the hall, I went with him, occasionally looking back to make sure I wasn’t being followed by anyone.
The man in front suddenly stopped, and I did the same. I hide behind a golden vase — God bless the king for his extravagance —
Had it not been for that, I would have been long caught by the man. He glanced around before he took to his left. I didn’t immediately come out from my hiding place. I stayed there for a moment before I ran after him, mindful of my steps.
I didn’t make a sound, to avoid alerting him of my presence. Should I be caught, all my hiding will be in vain. I was careful enough and was successfully going after him until I suddenly lost him.
One moment, he was running through the hall, and the next moment, he was nowhere to be found. I stood, glancing around the place searching for the man.
"Who are you?" A voice asked behind me, startling me by placing a knife on my neck.
I froze.
With a knife in my throat, I gulped, trying not to show how nervous I was.
"Mega?" I replied, trying not to react as the knife went impossibly closer, almost to the point of slitting my throat.
"Why are you tailing me?" He asked once more, tightening his hold on me and making it difficult for me to breathe.
"Tailing you?" I scoffed. "I was just taking a step towards —"
"Shut up!" The knife broke my skin, and my blood trickled down my throat. "Why are you tailing me?!" He growled at me.
"Well, I was indeed doing that. But do I have to tell you why I did what I just did?" I hit the back of my head on his face, and he let go of me, pained by my actions.
I didn’t allow him to recover from my hit as I kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying to the flower vase next to us. He crashed on the vase, sending it clattering to the floor as the flowers scattered.
The mask on his face moved a bit, but it didn’t expose his face like I would have loved for it to do. Instead, it only showed a side of his face.
I rubbed off the blood on my throat and faced him with a pissed expression on my face. The man is putting on a black mask that covers most of his face, giving him a mysterious vibe.
Just like his face, the rest of his body is covered with strange wools, concealing the tattoos on his body. I would have been able to know who he is.
He slowly rose from the ground and watched me with his eyes narrowed to slits. Those blue orbs glared at me with such ferocity that took my breath away.
"Who are you?" It was my turn to ask, trying to know who he was and how he got to be here. His voice isn’t familiar at all. He doesn’t look like one of the guards in the palace, which could mean he got in from the outside.
"And why should I do that?" He hit his feet on the ground and jumped up high, stunning me when he flipped the cloak he was putting on at me.
For a moment, I was confused, only to get kicked in my stomach. With a cry, I hit my back on the wall opposite me. I jumped up and ran towards him, using my vampire speed to get to him in time to punch him in the face.
I didn’t stop at that. I kicked him in the stomach, making sure to keep my punch consistent.
"Fuck you!" I punched him in his face, trying to get revenge for the punch he gave to me. My back still hurts from the collision with the wall.
He only managed to knee me on my stomach, but it didn’t faze me. With my fast healing benefits, I was able to get away with the pain that would have gone through me.
I reached out, aiming to remove the mask on his face, so I could see the man.
"Brys!" Fan called out to me, interrupting me from what I intended to do.
