Chapter 155: Bloodline Inheritance [3]

Chapter 155: Bloodline Inheritance [3]

He was, in fact, ready.

The materials were prepared in the next few minutes, and the machines related to Sequence Creation were some of the few Gio was actually confident about using.

He did exactly what he told Farrah he would do and put together the Sequence. His part was the easiest. Once he’d prepped the machine properly, the rest was a matter of waiting and watching.

After ten minutes, the failure he expected took place. He observed it, tested the failed product using some of the other machines in the room, and brought his findings back to Farrah.

There wasn’t much he could see that wasn’t already detailed in the dataset he was given. It was clear that in terms of what they could find through numbers, they were closing in on completion.

However, he still did his best to find new perspectives to explore and explained to Farrah as if he were one of her lab assistants reporting what they’d discerned.

Farrah’s expression morphed from its usual uninterested facade as she was forced to display genuine shock. It wasn’t the first time she’d seen a child with such potential, but Gio was a bit of a unique case.

Putting aside his circumstances, his demeanor, his aura, and his body were all those of someone who was training to become a Sequencer. In what way did he look like he’d taken time to study and become adept at lab work?

She didn’t treat him worse than she treated anyone else, but she’d formed a negative impression based on his words alone.

Seeing him back them up with real skill, she could do nothing but accept that Raymond found yet another good seed.

"I have to admit that you’re skilled. Judging by your response earlier, you have no interest in working as an intern here?"

Gio shrugged and shook his head.

"I plan to attend the First Institute and become a Sequencer. I definitely want to spend more time at the lab, but I can’t accept any position that forces me to be here on a schedule."

"So that’s the problem."

Farrah hummed in understanding.

"This isn’t really a common case, since not many people try to become Sequencers and scientists at the same time, but it’s happened before. We have a couple student programs you could try out that have more relaxed schedules, but you won’t get paid anything if you go that way."

"You pay your interns?"

"With what our interns go through, paying them minimum wage at least is the only way to get them to stay."

"Makes sense."

Gio nodded and considered her offer for a second.

"Well, if I can just come by when I have time and work on things I want to work on, I have no reason to decline. You’re basically giving me free access to the lab."

"You won’t be working on things you want to do. You’ll be working on things we’re doing."

"But what if those two things overlap?"

Farrah shrugged.

"If that’s the case, then good for you. Are you saying you’ll accept?"

"I’m saying that right now, I want to start using this lab, but if we can talk about the student programs in question later, maybe I can choose the one that works best for me."

Farrah nodded. It was a rational decision, so she didn’t have any qualms with it.

"I’ll be busy, so I won’t take care of it personally. Just go to the front desk when you’re done and talk to them about it. I’ll let them know you’re coming."

She glanced at the lab around them before turning back to Gio.

"You used these machines like you were used to them, so I’m not too worried about you breaking anything, but I’m still going to warn you about it. I’m leaving you alone because I have a little bit of trust in you now. Don’t make that trust disappear."

Gio nodded silently. Looking satisfied with his response, Farrah left the room, giving him the freedom to do as he pleased.

’That was much quicker than expected.’

It wasn’t without reason. Farrah wasn’t lying when she didn’t have time. It was highly likely that the only reason she even entertained him was because of Raymond’s recommendation.

’Whatever the case, I got what I wanted.’

He was left alone in the lab. There was a camera in the lab as well, but it could at most tell Farrah that he came to synthesize a bloodline. She wouldn’t be able to glean anything more than that.

’Let’s get started then.’

Gio summoned the door to his Storage Hole and withdrew everything he needed. Along with the two Essence Bloods, there were a couple of secondary materials that were necessary.

’Fusing Essence Blood isn’t hard if they work together, but these two are on opposing ends of the spectrum.’

The Blackwing Blood Serpent was a beast and the Dark Demon Tiger was a monster, first and foremost. The two kinds of blood could be made into Sequences separately, but combining them was a hassle.

Also, both of them were incredibly dominant and volatile bloodlines. They would not get along when he tried to put them together. Just like the other Demon Tiger Bloodlines that were being researched in this facility, it would fight.

And the Blackwing Blood Serpent’s Essence Blood wouldn’t take that lying down.

Gio inserted both vials into their correct places in the machine. In the other slots, he put a mixture of fluids that he’d prepared beforehand.

All of them were different counter agents that would facilitate the fusion.

’All of this has been planned out for too long for it to fail now.’

He watched carefully as the machine activated and spun rapidly. The fluids in the vials were slowly pulled into the main body of the contraption, where they were swirled together into one uniform mass.

It wasn’t just a matter of mixing them into an alloy-like fluid. They needed to be mixed until they were one entity that couldn’t and wouldn’t separate by any means.

The machine vibrated fiercely. Gio could see sparks within the main body as the two fluids struck. There were flashes of light here and there, and like molten metal, the entire liquid glowed with a bright orange hue.

’Good.’

Gio’s eyes narrowed. This was exactly how he’d imagined it in his head.

’If I didn’t add secondary materials, the entire machine would have exploded by now.’

If it was a lesser product, the same thing would have happened.

However, no matter how dangerous the reaction looked like it was becoming, it never blew out of proportion.

The light got brighter and brighter until it eventually stabilized and started to die down. The fluid within became visible, revealing its new deep black color.

The liquid slowly trickled into a new vial waiting for it, and when it was all collected, Gio carefully removed it from the machine.

’First step done.’

His theories weren’t theories. They’d been questioned and refined over a century until they were practically facts that he didn’t have the means to prove.

But now?

Gio took his completed Essence Blood and the remaining starting materials to a new machine.

He only had to wait ten or so minutes for the Essence Blood to be completed, but the rest of the process would take several hours.

For the creation of an Equinox Grade Bloodline, not a single step could be skipped. Not a single shortcut could be taken.

Slowly but surely, Gio went through the steps.

He played out the scene he’d imagined in his head a million times.

Seeing it to completion...

At this point, it really was a matter of fate.
