Chapter 49 - Why one gave up

Of the many teams that challenged the 1st floor with appropriate teams, one was almost about to pass through the last of the barriers and reach the innermost area where they predicted the Boss monster was situated.

There were various sections of the maze that they passed through. Of these various sections, each and every one of them was more challenging than the other.

They fought and they clashed against creatures– monsters that they had never seen on the first floor in the game– they survived deadly traps that were most definitely made to kill anyone and anything that came across them.

If that wasn't enough, as if to have made to challenge those wanting to pass through the various sections, there were times when they had to face various puzzles that made even the best of the analysts dizzy.

There were young people among the bigger groups, there were older people among them and there were also those geniuses that had created various modern inventions.

Puzzles, monsters, and traps. Even that would have been passable enough if they were limited to just that.

However, the biggest problem that they were facing on this floor was none of the above.

"We are almost there. Seems like the professor has figured out the answer."

"We will move as soon as the gate opens. Get everyone ready."

"Yes, captain."

They were inside a Maze right now made so cleverly that even a math-head like their professor was stunned at the unfathomable engineering of the floor's special walls.

'Who would have thought this place would be so different from the game?'

Unlike the game, the walls that were around the entire floor dividing the sections and creating a barricade, the walls here were not static.

Each time they all moved in a certain direction, each time they fought a certain creature, each time they went against a certain challenge, their positioning would shift ever so slightly that they would almost lose their positioning and spiral back into the maze if they weren't careful enough.

'How did Kai figure all these out on his own?'

There was a genius math professor with them along with a few others who had analysed large data structures their entire lives.

The team made by the A2P2 was no simple team. Of the three parties that they were made of, one was entirely dedicated to those who were good with analytics and had magical abilities.

They were experts who had studied these subjects their entire lives while KiRA was someone with a simple undergrad degree.

He was also much younger than them, and yet, Zyon knew KiRA had already passed through these places.

'He even left his marks all around...'

The rest of the parties did not know this but the reason they were able to reach here was mostly thanks to the markings that KiRA left throughout the floor for Ziggy.

He knew he would be coming here and passing through these places so when he was moving from the center area to the pillar, he left markings that were very subtle but something that Ziggy would know instantly.

Zyon was aware that KiRA had conquered the game, but this tower was neither the game nor the same as what they had played.

He had played the game halfway through as well so he knew there were many complicated things in this tower... but not something like this.

This did not feel the same as the game– with all the real dead bodies, blood pools, and carcases that he was seeing on his way here, he knew this was nothing like a game.

This was Hell. They were walking around in a hell, trying to reach the devil that was sealed by this hell.

They were walking right into their own demise, but he knew...

'If Kai knows so much about this place, he would have left some clues behind if he did not want us to face the boss.'

The boss monster was out there and it wasn't KiRA's target. Ziggy needed to be the one to take the Floor boss down, only then KiRA would be able to take down the real threat of the 1st floor— the true monster and the reason this whole prison was made.

-Ooooooooooooong!

"The professor solved it! Captain!"

"Send the recon team! Assemble at point Alpha!"

According to the professor's calculations that Ziggy did not understand one bit, they will now reach the epicenter of this entire floor.

There were various elements that pointed towards the next stage being the boss room... the first of which was the disappointed retreat of the eastern alliance that was here right when they reached this place.

They had tried their best to reach here. They were ahead of everyone else and they were the most powerful team.

They had also solved the puzzle that they were solving until just now, but they went back after looking into the next section with a dark and defeated expression.

From the looks that some of them had, it seemed like they had witnessed something so unnatural and scary that their entire being was frozen solid.

Their leader also looked at the professor and him as if their presence here wasn't going to mean anything.

Even though they had reached this point, they weren't going to be able to get past that point... or at the very least, that was what they had believed.

"Captain! Captain! You must see this!"

The other clues pointed towards the next stage being the terminal as well, so Zyon had prepared himself for everything.

When the people that were supposed to do the recon reported to him and urged to see the situation himself, he took a deep breath and walked straight into the brightly lit gate present within the metallic walls.

"..."

What he saw inside stunned him.

"Why... is this here?"

The scene before him did not make any sense to him. They were right, the boss monster was here, the thing they were looking at was most certainly the boss monster of this floor.

Why it was here or how it was here was uncertain but there was a singular creature present there.

It was also not scary looking, in fact...

"Is that something strong, Captain Zyon?"

When one crossed over to the final section of the maze, they would find themselves in a place where sky existed above them.

There was a barren land before them and, while the entirety of the sky was red here, a single ray of light was making its way from the heavens, falling down to a certain hill slope atop which a being in white was seen to be resting.

"Strong? Professor... in the Tower of Beginning, we used to call that thing Three-eyed Arsonist of hell."

Pure white fur and golden horns shimmering under the singular heavenly light made the creature seem like a holy beast.

If anything, the pure aura that the creature was giving off made those who did not know better warm up towards this being.

However, it was a grave mistake.

"The alliance leader is wise."

Zyon had his doubts but he understood why the great eastern alliance might have chosen to withdraw from this battle.

There was no way even their party could defeat a (Level-60) being such as this one.

They didn't even have a class for class skills and bonuses, much less the right equipment to go against this three-eyed goat.

Had it been up to him entirely, Zyon would have chosen to leave the place immediately as well. But he did not do that...

"Everyone, I have a suggestion."

A fight will be inevitable once they approach the being.

But, if they were actually going to approach it, there was... only one way to do so.

Perhaps it was only plausible because Zyon was there as well.

Had KiRA been here, things would have been much easier... but it was all up to Zyon now.

He was the party leader here, and it was his responsibility to make sure everyone in his party survived.

That much he needed to make sure...
