Chapter 50: When the experts awaken

Chapter 50 - When the experts awaken

"I have been making items for more than two hundred years of my life and in that time, not in any human academy, not in any dwarven school, not even in some of the greatest institutions of the lower-middle floors, I have ever seen a design such as this one." The dwarven elders complimented KiRA, a stunned expression present on them.

What they were seeing right now was a complex design with all the necessary details that any creator would need for an item that wasn't seen before within the tower.

"It's an ancient technique. Kin of the Dragons the Golden-scaled lizardmen were the ones who first thought of fusing items with magic and alchemy to create a hybrid artifact possessing features of both.

Later on, a civilization of higher floors took inspiration from their technique and created the first items made with traditional arts, alchemy, enchantments, and integrated magic with them.

What we see here is my own interpretation of their technique, something I hope you will easily make possible."

First of all, what KiRA presented to them was the work of a master on the same level as them. Perhaps he was better than them at theoretical understanding of the weapons and items since the way he presented all of the details to them was not something a young human child should know.

The highly detailed drawings, the noted explanations and the steps that they needed to take in order to realize this item were still not what impressed them.

They knew if he knew about their ancestor as well as an archmage and possessed their knowledge, this much was possible.

However, the lost techniques of hybrid items and the way he utilised his own understanding for this design was the thing that impressed both the elders.

The fact that he could understand those complex techniques that they could not even imagine to know at his age, the fact that he could implement that knowledge and create an application design so well balanced became the origin of their admiration at that moment.

"Impressive. Simply impressive."

The Lime elder was an enchanter and forger while the other elder was an engineering expert and accessory maker.

Both of them knew how to work with fire and tools, but since they had such complementary expertise, KiRA had high hopes for this item.

"Sadly, I don't think we will have anything strong enough to place as the core as you have mentioned here.

I mean, we have quite some materials, but if you want something that's flexible, durable, has a long lifespan, with protection, offensive, and supporting abilities, you will need something much more than what you can find on the middle floors."

The Lime elder nodded at Sir Blaik's words.

They understood what the design was aimed after. The item was going to contain magic elements, they would have physical properties of a great weapon, the thing was also supposed to have functions that supported us during battles.

Aside from that, he wanted to make it kind of an all purpose tool.

It wasn't an impossible request but it most certainly was something that would require a lot of their resources and attention.

The most important thing among them was going to be the core of the artifact, something that needed to be strong enough to handle the functionality of the artifact.

No metal, horn, pearl, or gem could take that position.

It needed to be something special, something that could also channel all kinds of magical energies and not just Mana or Aura.

He wanted something that wasn't a swordsman's sword, magician's wand, or a thief's master key. It was going to be all of the above, or something that complimented each other's functionality while possessing all those abilities.

"You don't have to worry about the core." KiRA reassured them as he knew this question would come.

He had something in mind, so he walked out of the place and urged them to follow him outside.

He took the two of them to the other side of the lake without saying much and reached the oldest-looking tree of this pocket dimension.

While most of the things in this place weren't actually real, there were many things that were in fact real and left behind by the creator of this place.

One such thing was one of the branches of this tree, something KiRA retrieved with the help of Uni.

"What is that, young one?"

"What do you intend us to do with that twig, boy? Use it as the core?"

The elders did not understand why he retrieved this branch, but KiRA nodded at those ridiculing words.

"That's right."

He poured some of his Holy energy into the twig, and revealed the true form of this branch that wasn't really part of the fake tree.

-Oooooooooooong!

Upon contact with the special energy, the branch that looked nothing more than a simple wooden stick turned pale-ashen silver.

Each and every one of the details of the branch became more visible, the energy that started exuding from the branch once again stunned the two elders.

They were not seeing any mere branches right now... they were looking at something that should not have existed in these lower floors.

"Is that...?"

"Really...?"

KiRA smiled at both of their dumbfounded expressions. They were confused just a moment ago, but now that they were seeing the true form of this branch, they were left speechless.

"Yeah. This is a precious branch of an (Ancient Evergreen), something that should have originally belonged to one of you.

I know I'm being selfish here, but if you are fine with it, can we use this as the core of the item, please?"

Their ancestors left it for them so that they could make something precious with it. It was theirs even though he was originally going to steal it from under their noses.

He was an ethical thief so he was planning to leave a note at the end, but the situation was already far different from what he had predicted.

"Of course!" There was a burning fire within the eyes of the two elders now.

"You found it so it is only natural it belongs to you." The two elders were fired up once again.

Their passion was oozing out of them, making KiRA uncomfortable. But he kept his calm.

"Thank you."

The tree branch wasn't just precious. There shouldn't be many like this in the entire tower.

The tree that they were talking about was one of a kind. There were only three known similarities to it, but even while possessing similar properties, each one of them were different.

This branch right here was also very special.

After a branch of the world tree or fragment of a Divinity, each and every master around the tower wished to possess this certain category of material at least once in their lifetime.

'Being able to create something out of it was an honor few ever received...'

And since they were given this honor, KiRA could tell the results weren't going to be disappointing at the very least.
