Chapter 240: Those Gentle Hands-I

Chapter 240: Those Gentle Hands-I

Marissa was cornered in a matter of minutes. Though she was a pureblood, not every pureblood was talented in fighting, especially against a group of people who were specialized in killing vampires.

Tired and exasperated, Marissa found her back pressed against the tree as though she had tried to run away into the forest, the group of the sorcerers had eyes akin to an owl that could see through the night, spotting her every time she had tried to hide and catch her breath.

Another blade had struck through her stomach, leaving her bleeding and then another one slashed her ankles, causing for her to collapse into her knees.

Proud as a princess, Marissa didn’t want to show her tears but the pain tearing her skin and body was far too painful for her who hadn’t had a drop of human blood for years now.

She could only stare at the smiling figures and the Hans she loves coming toward him, holding the syringe.

"You won’t die," said Hans, the fake one. She knew it was the fake one, she could tell her Hans wouldn’t do this to her but the pain was the same regardless.

One men pulled her hands and in a sense of urgency, Marissa grabbed the blade on her stomach, pressing it tightly against her neck.

"But dying would be better," Marissa stared at Hans’ face and the memories of her life filled her head, a thought of dying slipped which scared her but when she recalled how she had seen her brother dragging his body with a pale face all covered with blood, she knew that she wouldn’t want to be another source of his suffering..

Without hesitation, Marissa dragged the blade across her neck and her body fell forward, her finger twitching but her body slowly gives out.

Pureblood Vampires usually could survive this much wound but it had to be addressed as quickly as possible.

Marissa knew her end were close and as painful as it was, her eyes blurred and a sense of relief appeared on her heart as she watched the sorcerers who had jump in panic, watching her in terror as she had destroyed their well crafted plan!

The Fake Hans snapped from his surprise, yelling in rage to his men, "What are you doing?! Feed her blood now! STOP HER FROM DYING!"

While they rushed to keep her alive for a little longer, Hans rushed to stab her arm by the syringe in haste. His eyes filled with anger as he cursed, "You’re not dying. Not until that bastard kills you with his own hand!"

The sorcerers’ yells echoed in the forest, becoming one with the strong storm that had appeared all over Versailles. Back in the castle, awoken by the sound of thunder was Arabella. She felt her head dizzy and a sharp pain on the back of her head as if she was just struck down by something terribly hard.

Stirred from the floor, her green eyes tried to focused itself on the ground which was now filled with a large puddle of red liquid.

It took her two seconds to finally grasp what had happened and her body jumped in surprise, her back hitting the wall that was right behind her.

"Blood-!" She yelped only to see her own reflection on the dark window outside that shows her entire head was covered in blood.

When she puzzled her memories together, she recalled how she had rushed to find Marissa, to stop her, and to tell her that Hans wasn’t the man she think he was. Then from behind her she saw Iliza, holding a large vase that was still near her, broken into shards.

Pursing her lips, Arabella pushed herself to stand only to feel her body swaying for a moment. She managed to stop herself from falling over by holding to the wall. Her fingers grasped the wall tight and with all her might she pushed herself to walk, pushing her weak feet and her dizzy head into the castle’s front, where she think she could find Renard or Karnala.

But before she could reach far, she heard a gasp that echoed and turned to find a maid who seemed startled by her appearance, drenched in blood, like a dead body that had just came back from death.

"G- GHOST!" The maid yelled, flailing to run away out of fear.

Arabella tried to stop her from running away but when she tried to take a step forward, she stumbled, almost falling into her face first. Before she could reach the ground and hit herself with another great pain, a strong arm had caught her by the waist, lifting her from the ground, and then placing her into the wall.

"What happened to you?" Cassius’s words snapped from his mouth in a rush. He studied her and shook his head, "So much blood-" this was deadly to humans but Arabella was still moving, alive. He could see the wound open but the blood had dried up.

He suspected that this was due to her power as the witch’s daughter.

"Renard!" He snapped, "Bring Malvis here- NOW!"

"NO!" Arabella grabbed him by his chest. She heaved for breath, feeling dizzier than ever. She slurred a little, her body swaying but she continued her words in a rush, "Marissa... She’s in danger! Go after her now! The sorcerers are here... it was Hans."

Cassius’s face froze as did his blood.

It took him a moment before snapping out of it and looking between Arabella and the path which Marissa took, he was torn.

Arabella pushed him to the glass door.

She swayed but she could still muster enough power to bring him to where he should be. "Go now! Don’t regret it- GO!"

"Stay with her Renard," Cassius said, his teeth gritted tight as he wanted to stay beside her but knowing that every second was precious, he couldn’t stay for far too long. He looked at her again before turning to the glass door, kicking it open and disappearing into a blob of liquid.
