A swirl of emotions ran through Cassius’s heart like a smoldering magma. He stared at Arabella, his gaze fierce as he wondered why she had thought to leave his side again.

Because of those women- the princesses? Those flock of beautiful adorned dolls who had made to hide their true nature? Those who he had never once paid any attention to or even cared to glance?

Wasn’t he always looking at her?

Wasn’t his gaze always on her and never had he once failed to do so?

And what about the throne? He never once planned to obediently followed his father’s words either way.

His sole purpose to become the King wasn’t to govern Versailles, hell it could be destroyed and he could burn it down to the ground without batting his eyelids. After all, he never cared about the people or any noble reasons as a King.

He didn’t care about the wealth that he had always lived with, he never cared about it as it had never brought him joy. It had instead only brought miseries that he could remember than anything close to the emotion called happiness.

The only reason he had wanted to become the king was to fulfill his responsibility. He had suffered so long to become the King and for what reason did he suffered so much if he can’t become one?

Besides, his plan had always to kill his father, to make sure he suffered the pain that he had always done. Never had he wanted to be an obedient dog for his father, marrying like a well bred mutt when ordered to.

"What are we if not a master and its slave pet?"

Arabella’s words resonated in him as if he had been pierced in the heart that had been eaten by a demon years ago when he was still a young boy.

Stunned, he failed to react when Arabella had stood up from the couch, walking toward the door and making a run of it.

Cassius could hear her words repeating in his ears again and again.

As if something finally clicked, he understood all this time that what he wanted wasn’t only Arabella.

He wanted something more.

He wanted a name.

A name to this emotion that he could only feel when he’s near her. A name to the relationship they had shared which he would never then share to anyone. A name to their... ongoing growth.

A relationship which they could never leave, a relationship that he could finally call as a Home.

By the time Cassius reeled everything in, Arabella had left and with such a speed had he rose from his couch, slamming the door open to find her. He chased after her scent, finding it regardless of the other scents that had pierced his smelling sense.

He focused even more, trying to focus on that small running footsteps, the gasps that slipped out from her lips as she sighed and breathed roughly from running too quickly.

Then he could hear her voice, the one that sounded like a gulp, the bad habit she had always done when she was close to tears.

Whenever Arabella was trying to speak without breaking apart, she would gulp multiple times, to the point that all she could do was purse her lips and gulp.

His body quickly melted into liquid, disappearing into thin air. Oddly whenever it was about Arabella even his cursed power had turned obedient.

He could feel her presence and the soft meowing of a cat near her. But when she was so close to approaching her, the cat disappeared with a meow, as if annoyed to be somewhere around him.

Arabella who saw the cat Lala running away when it had just softly meowed and purred on her. hand, turned confused, wondering why she had ran away after being softly patted.

Her answer came in a form of a person when she took a step backward only to hit the firm body behind her.

Before she could turn her head, her arms were held in place and her back was softly pushed to the nearby white pillar on the open part of the rose garden.

Like snow, the rose petals that had fell on the ground softly floated from the ground as a gust of wind blew across the garden.

Her green eyes turn round and wide, glassy with a hint of tremble in it as she tried to make sure the person standing before her was really Cassius.

He looked dishelved, as if he had been running all around the entire castle to find her.

"So this was what you wanted to ask me all this time," Cassius breathed his words to her. He leaned his head forward, his forehead pressed to her shoulder as he close his eyes tightly, "Don’t run away like that and scare me so easily. There is no one in this world that could scare me like you do. If only you had wanted to ask this question to me, just ask them. No. Please. Whatever question you have to me, ask them. You don’t have to run away, no, don’t run away please."

Arabella’s green eyes turned still as she stared into his eyes, those crimson gaze now glassy, desperate. Desperate. Cassius was desperate.

He held her fingers between the gaps of his own fingers. He tighten his grasps on her fingers, his lips pressed to her nape.

"Promise me," he said, his eyes studying her, "Please promise me you won’t suddenly run away like that. I feared that once you run, you will never come back."

Feared?

How was he so open? Cassius... was baring his heart to her.

"I... promise," she whispered, her words smelling like roses as she could see a hint of relief washes over Cassius.

He then looked at her eyes again, "You wanted to know what we are."

She slowly nodded, her throat felt strained as if someone had pulled something in her that also tugged her heartstring.

So many emotions swirled inside her, one she couldn’t named other than this desperation.
