Chapter 96: [Volume 1 End] Unwelcomed Reward

What Luis expected to see once he opens his eyes was Xagrien or the rough ceiling of the stone house. However, that is far from what he is currently seeing.

It is an excessively high ceiling that instantly reminded him of the interior designs from the modern Earth.

He tried to feel himself and he is stunned to realize that he is no longer laying on the furry covers that smelled like Xagrien but instead, the surface that he can touch was soft and cold.

It was a leather couch. Luis quickly realized what it was and he snappily sat up.

’Did I come back?’ Luis’ heart hammered against his chest. He dislikes the thought of leaving everyone in the new world that he is reincarnated in.

He snappily scanned his body in a bout of nervousness.

It was that pale and slim arm that he had as the moon elf lord and he is also wearing that dress that Olyn prepared for him. "Thank goodness, Xagrien and the others are not a dream." Luis sighed in relief.

Luis calmly assessed his environment this time. The place that he is in looked like a cozy office. There is a big and round CEO’s table in the center of the room, just in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window.

On top of it, lies a golden nameplate which has characters that seemed to be foggy in his eyes. Therefore, he cannot read any of it. Then just beside it is an expensive-looking vintage sand dial. The sand that is cascading inside it looked like a fine gold based on how it shines against the bright sunlight. There are also groups of potted succulents on the other side of the table. All of them appeared healthy and well-tended.

Luis then looked over the glass windows to have an idea of where he is currently but all he can see was white. It is white due to the direct glow of the sunlight. But it strangely doesn’t hurt his eyes at all.

’This setup is so weird.’ Luis thought as he reached for his pointy ears. He has no idea what is happening. ’And how did I end up in this place?’

It was at this moment that he saw a figure coming from his right. Every step of this individual echoes a clicking sound.

"Uhm, excuse me. May I know where–" Luis sounded casual yet respectful when he asked the petite woman who was wearing those noisy heels. She’s probably five foot five in height if she will take off that killer black heels. He tried to look at the woman’s face but it strangely gives him the illusion that he cannot distinguish even a little of her features.

Luis just shrugged it off. Thinking that everything is peculiar already so he didn’t have the energy to act surprised.

The lady in the gray suit stopped upon hearing Luis’ voice then turned to face him.

"Oh? You’re finally conscious now, new moon elf lord? You should have waited for a little more time as I am readying a glass of water that will wake you up," she spoke crudely at him.

These familiar harsh words.

This familiar condescending voice!

Luis may only have heard it once but his memory will never fail him.

"You’re that bitch!" He exaggeratedly pointed straight at the face of the woman whom he assumed was the system administrator.

"Huh? Who are you talking to? You’re the only bitch here." The lady answered, rather uninterested. She even used her left pinky to clean his ear.

However, Luis was quick to come up with an equally rude comeback.

"That lady administrator of the crappy system."

"Hey," The system administrator’s tone sounded lethal. "Do you have a death wish now, unnamed moon elf lord?"

"Whatever," Luis replied nonchalantly. He doesn’t feel murderous intent coming from that statement.

Instead, he was relieved when he found out that it was the admin who took him to this place. He then remembered the grievances that this girl caused him.

’Now that we finally met, it isn’t fair if I didn’t take this opportunity to get even!’ the moon elf lord thought with a sinister smirk. From this moment forward, he will do his best to annoy this bitch!

This is a showdown between a male bitch and a lady bitch!

Luis comfortably sat on the leather couch as if this was his turf. "What is up? Why did you summon this gorgeous me?"

He even crossed his legs and boldly scanned the room that he is in. Just like he is in his friend’s house.

’What kind of shamelessness is this?’ the lady questioned herself. This kind of behavior is so strong that it even makes her question if this was her place.

"By the way, this is quite a nice office," the moon elf lord even complimented the speechless system administrator.

Luis then faced the stunned woman and asked straightforwardly, "Are you from the same world where I came from or is it another world that is identical to the modern Earth?"

"This damn." That question broke the system administrator’s dazed state. She exaggeratedly blurted out her disbelief at Luis’ brazen antics.

"Hah! How despicable! I regret spending my Karmic Coins just to communicate with this ungrateful shit! I should just summon you when you are in a coma so that your soul will but the soonest that you come here!"

"Karmic Coins?" Luis curiously asked about the unfamiliar term that he heard from the admin.

"It’s none of your business," the lady admin answered without batting an eyelid.

She approached in front of the wide table, brashly pushed the nameplate away and sat on it with crossed arms.

The lady administrator warned seriously in response to Luis’ questions earlier. "Also, refrain from asking questions that will get us flagged by the Laws of the Universe. This much intervention is already stretching the rules so shut up."

"Okay. Let’s start discussing my business, then." Luis acquiesced since the admin appears to be unwilling to say it. However, he mentally noted the Laws of the Universe, and he encountered them twice. Once with Tree of Life’s spirit then now with this obnoxious admin.

"This bitch!" The system admin reacted strongly upon seeing that the moon elf lord is flippant to her.

"Right back to you, bitch!"

The system admin was heaving. This newbie is purposely touching her nerves!

"Unnamed moon elf lord! Luis Lee!" She shrieked.

But Luis doesn’t have any changes in his expression. It’s as still as an undisturbed lake.

"You should be thankful that you did an excellent job with the recent quest or else you’ll never get to see your little lover again!"

"He’s everything but little. Correction." Luis responded with his chin raised.

The system administrator begrudgingly looked at this unbelievable newbie lord.

’Fine! You won! Good luck if you can take that huge rod when the right time comes!’ the system administrator wanted to bite off the smirk on Luis’ face. She was looking forward to the time when this proud bitch was disemboweled for taking in such a giant.

Hmph!

"So much for useless talk. I summoned you because I just want to congratulate you on accomplishing a gold-tier quest and you did it in a way that will greatly change the course of the future of the moon elves." She said formally this time.

Luis calmly listened now since she doesn’t sound like a rascal. In fact, Luis can distinguish gladness and pride in her tone.

"At least for now, you can say that you and your subjects in the Amber Forest are safe, for the meantime."

’Oh, so there is more to come.’ Luis is expecting that this is the case so he doesn’t feel pressured or even disappointed.

"Well, thanks for congratulating me. I worked hard for it." Luis declared with his back straight and his chest spread out.

’I and my subordinates sacrificed our blood and sweat to be exact.’

’This newbie lord is annoying.’ The woman whispered to herself upon seeing the newbie lord’s smugness.

Luis then remembered something, "By the way, since you seem to be knowledgeable about the Laws of the Universe."

"I’m not answer–" the admin responded without thinking. However, Luis’ experienced mouth is faster.

"Do you happen to know the Moon Goddess?"

The system administrator sat stiffly. "What? Why are you asking me that?"

"Is there a way for me to communicate with her? You see, I am confused why I suddenly got her Blessings. The lords before me normally had to do the Name Proclamation Ceremony before they could receive it." Luis answered pity he can’t see the reaction of the system admin since it appeared to be censored by some kind of power.

"While I am grateful, I am also worried that it might come with a great cost." He added honestly.

"Is that all your concern?" Luis noticed that the admin’s tone sounded as if he had bitten something rotten.

The system admin sighed and shifted her position. She placed her two hands beside her hips.

The words that came out of her lips stunned Luis.

"But before I answer that, let me ask you. Are you normal in the moon elf lord standard?"

"You are considered an exceptional existence compared to the previous moon elf lords. You are reincarnated while your predecessors are not. They need to fumble their steps in trying to slowly form their identity while they are carrying other individuals’ memories. Meanwhile, you are already a complete person... while having some cognitive defects..." she stated in a matter of factly tone.

"Hey!" Luis wanted to protest but the lady admin didn’t let him at all.

"Anyway, your struggles are already shortened compared to others so just be thankful, okay? As for your cheap and irrelevant concern; worry not since it was all on Moon Goddess’ tab."

"You gained something," she then pointed at Luis’ forehead where the leaf-patterned crescent moon is glowing.

"While she lost something. " ’Essential’ the lady held herself back from saying that. "Well that is what she gets for rushing things so just let her be."

"I see," Luis somehow felt guilty. "I want to thank her."

"Your thanks are not needed." The administrator flatly refused.

’Besides, I think your fate is spiraling wildly to the point that the system is no longer 100% certain on how it will turn out. You could be a much greater existence than what I hope for.’ The system administrator held it in her mind. She reckons that it is still to easy to say anything.

This weird behavior was picked up by Luis’ observation skills so his eyes became small with suspicion.

At this point, the surroundings suddenly flickered. Showing a slight manifestation of distortion in space.

"Time is running out because of your useless talk. I am giving you two options as a reward for successfully clearing a gold-tier quest. This is an encouragement for you to work harder in the future." The system admin announced apathetically.

Luis knows that this is far from good so he tried to refuse. "I’m good. I have plenty of encouragement so thank you very much."

However, the admin doesn’t care about him at all. She instead continued in an almost robotic-like voice.

"Option 1, I will open the System shop for you."

Luis halted and thought, ’Well if this is the type of reward that will be given then it’s not that bad.’

However, the second option doesn’t seem to be as promising as the former. His expression visibly turned grave.

"Option 2, you can add your lover as the secondary host of the system. That way you will get to share the quests and the rewards that you will reap twice the usual."
