There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord!
Chapter 190: Untitled For Now

Chapter 190: Untitled For Now

Most of the Woodrill Plains is slowly forming with the collective efforts of the 14 clans, with the residential houses being 75 percent complete.

However, the overall atmosphere in the thriving vast land in the heart of the Amber Forest lacks the cheerfulness that it had several days ago. It’s been three days since the incident happened in the kiln area, and it’s been spread that the head priest was ill.

The majority of them are worried and concerned with the condition of the head priest. It is not unheard of that moon elves occasionally experience fevers and other common illnesses. But sickness is a once-in-a-blue moon for a four-star warrior with an exceptional plate, just like Nicol.

Despite their busy schedules, the fourteen clans provided fresh fruits and other goods that were helpful to recuperating as their way of saying, "Get well soon."

Nicol is highly respected throughout the clans because of his leadership and strength. He is also a known hard worker, so it is hard for anyone to spot what not to like with this young head priest.

Suppose the ordinary folks are caring for Nicol. How much more is the Moon Elf Lord who, together with Sibal, brought the head priest to the infirmary?

It is common knowledge that their Lord is going to and fro with his mate to visit the head priest daily. Even though it’s not them, they could feel the Moon Elf Lord’s compassion witnessing that simple and thoughtful.

"So, how are you feeling?" The Moon Elf Lord’s voice sounded in the brightly lit infirmary.

This marble-made structure was built on the north-western side of Woodrill Lake near the proposed Administrative Building, plaza, and market to make it accessible in the future.

Luis and his servant, Olyn, entered the spotless white room where Nicol lay in a well-padded wooden bed. His complexion is a little more lively compared to the previous day.

On the side of his bed was a tableful of fragrant ripe fruits from the clans. Each of them is known for boosting their immunities against illness.

"I am well now that I drank a lot of water from Sacred Spring and properly rested, My Lord."

"Nah, ah." Luis moved his pointing finger side by side in front of Nicol’s face when the handsome priest was about to stand from his comfortable bed.

"Just continue taking your rest," the Moon Elf Lord decisively said. "I’ve been told your fever was recurring, so you are not yet permitted to go."

"But..." Nicol tried to reason out. What his Lord said was the truth. However, the heat swelling inside him has subsided significantly after much rest.

"No, Nicol. Your buts won’t sway me. We need to make sure you are perfectly fine. Gosh, I remember how high your fever was before, and I swear that you’re like on fire," Luis interjected quickly. Because he is genuinely worried about this dutiful subordinate of his, he can’t stop himself from rambling, leaving the non-talkative Nicol unable to speak at all.

"Fortunately, Sibal was quick on his feet, and my Healer’s Hands are effective to your fever, or else your brain will be fried back then!"

"Thank you so much for taking care of me, My Lord."

"I heard that multiple times already," Luis said. "Get well soon, and don’t forget to say thank you to Sibal. I think he hasn’t heard your incessant thank you-s."

Nicol remembered the orc and made a mental note to properly thank him.

"I will, My Lord."

"Great. Now lay and rest," Luis once again insisted. If only it’s convenient for him to push this fellow workaholic, he would do it!

"It’s ironic how your positions changed after a week," suddenly, Xagrien’s voice sounded inside the room. "It was you who kept on convincing the Moon Elf Lord to rest back then, but now, our lord is the one who keeps pushing you back to your bed."

Luis and Nicol turned to look at the room’s door and saw the tall and tanned man leaning on the door frame.

A crack in Luis’ expression appeared after hearing his mate say the last sentence. The intention and the words are spoken without any underlying meaning, but...

’Are you really sure to put it that way?’ Luis murmured to himself. It seems like he needs to teach more things to Xagrien.

"You’re supposed to be finishing up the Transportation Circle."

"Already done." Xagrien sauntered inside the room and wormed his way to Luis’ side. The purple-eyed man didn’t forget to cast a meaningful glance at the innocent patient before resting his hand on the waist of the bearer, who had grown used to such a gesture over time.

"It’s time for a health check." He stated.

As if on cue, Rean entered the room and was followed by Legland, Olyn, and the enigmatic cloaked man, Xerxes.

Luis is a little taken aback seeing the last male who entered. He didn’t expect the Blizzard Dragon to visit someone he wasn’t close with.

The Moon Elf Lord has a question, but that is not important right now since Nicol’s health is their priority now.

After a few rounds of casual greetings to the newcomers, Luis made way for Rean as he was the one who would conduct Nicol’s check-up.

There are no problems for healers like Rean to touch and treat a patient, especially when Legland is present.

Everyone watched the entire process of examination with great interest. Nicol may be silent, but he must admit that he feels like a critter being watched by multiple predators.

Contrary to moon elves’ jaw-dropping construction methods, the health examination is relatively simple. On closer inspection, it is not that different from traditional East Asian medicine.

Nicol’s pulse rate was read through his wrists. However, the nature’s energy from the healer was utilized to know the current state of the energy flow in the body.

It is not showy, but the control needed to do this was finer and more delicate than he imagined. Just one wrong move in manipulating the nature’s energy and the overall flow of energy in Nicol’s body will be affected.

Not a sound was made as long as there was a light on Rean’s fingers that was placed on Nicol’s wrist.

"Your pulse speed is a little faster than usual, and so is your heartbeat. Still no sign of viral infection and poisoning. Just the same readings as before," Rean said the examination results, but his little fair face was laced with confusion.

"This simply doesn’t make sense. When Moon Elves have a high and stubborn fever like yours, they tend to have an outward wave of nature’s energy. But in your case, it is actually stable externally."

"Does that mean anything?" Luis curiously asked.

"Yes, my Lord," Rean replied after letting go of Nicol’s wrist. "Nicol was experiencing a recurring fever of different levels this past few days. That is why I thought that there is a possibility that the problem lies in the energy flow on his plate."

"When there is a strong outward flow of nature’s energy on one’s plate, it may induce extremely high and recurring fever once it is not corrected. We call that "Platal Malady" as it is an ailment that springs from the energies on the plate. This is a common problem among practicing warriors," The always smiling bearer looked at his friend with a meaningful look.

"Just like Nicol," Luis said, pointing out. It’s less than two weeks since he gave them the Moonlight Circulation Training Manual, so there is a possibility that along the way, it messed up the energy movement on Nicol’s body.

"But while Nicol’s symptoms are the same as described, his energy flows do not support my initial assumption."

Xerxes suddenly spoke with interest, "But what if it is in reverse? Will it cause the moon elves’ bodies to have the same symptoms?"

"You mean the nature’s energy moving inwardly? That is not possible. If that happens, that will cause an absolute death to a moon elf."

The movement of nature’s energy inside the body is always outward to utilize its elemental powers. There is no need for a yin and yang cycle in their body as the core is the collector of nature’s energy from the outside. At the same time, it serves as the stirrer that moves the energy and a transformer of raw nature’s energy into elemental powers.

’Interesting,’ Luis was intrigued by the words that came from Rean. Out of curiosity and to shed light on the curious illness of his trusted subordinate, he used his Cosmic Sense skill to catch a glimpse of the energies present in Nicol’s body.

His eyes shone on a multitude of colors. It was as if the stars condensed on his pair of dark green orbs.

With Cosmic Sense, he studied the energy flow on Nicol’s plate. It wasn’t hard for him to do it since his subordinate’s plate was well-formed, and the pathways made through his Training Technique were clear. Too bad he didn’t ask Nicol what his plate’s rank was, but he must say that it is more solid than Legland.

"Nothing was wrong with the overall flow of energy on Nicol’s plate," he said as a confirmation of Rean’s claim. He moved towards his subordinate’s intermixed white and red core, and there, he realized that something wasn’t right.

Xagrien, who was on his side, suddenly spoke. "What if the problem lies somewhere else? Somewhere deeper."
