There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 189: For The City Completion (3)
Chapter 189: For The City Completion (3)
The Moon Elf Lord’s presence has been practically everywhere in the past few days. Right after he sent Feren and Nero to Redhill territory accompanied by Rion and the Oriole Squad, Luis busied himself by overseeing and helping with the construction.
From the beginning, he was curious about how his subordinates finished half of the proposed residential houses in a very short time. And now, seeing how the clans work together, the only thing that he could do was smile in admiration.
The patriarchs, also known as the members of the Tribunal, adapted their method of splitting their members to form a group, and they assigned each group permanent work.
There are groups assigned to logistics, burning tiles used in roofing, collecting and polishing stones used for building houses, and lastly, the builders.
The entire process the leaders devised was impressive and worthy of being his audience for discussions and debates. Luis lost count of how many times he said during their talks that, as a leader, they need to use their members’ vast array of strengths to level up their productivity and efficiency. He practically hammered in their heads to welcome diversity because that is their present as well as their future.
That is quite a leap for the leaders, but that is just the start of Luis’s good mood.
The ultimate part that made Luis in awe was the moon elves’ resourcefulness and the painstaking methods they came up with.
As a race that holds autonomy over nature, the moon elves are the most efficient and flexible builders in the world. The inhabitants of the Amber Forest know that fact well and use their elemental powers to their advantage.
Luis sauntered his way to the rows of hundred kilns where the tile-making was being done. There, he saw his industrious subjects working non-stop. The water, fire, and wind-power moon elves from different clans work side by side to create a seamless production line.
The water-powered moon elves are collecting the moisture on the clay. Luis could see and feel the delicate control they exerted in doing it so that the tiles would not be damaged before reaching the kiln.
It was a tiresome process as it consumed the mental strength of the worker. Watching someone from Gyuri Clans extract fine droplets of water is enough for Luis to break into goosebumps.
’Damn, that is like manually picking up tiny rocks on your rice before cooking,’ the Moon Elf Lord cursed internally.
He was used to macro-controlling massive amounts of nature’s energy, so he doesn’t know how well he would fare in micro-controlling his powers.
’Gosh, it is either I or the entire place will blow up once I tried that.’
The water-powered moon elves are not alone in this tiresome work.
The fire-powered moon elves are working hard to fine-tune the flame inside the kiln. They are using their absolute power over fire to create and maintain the optimal heat so that the tile will come out of the kiln durable.
Meanwhile, the wind-powered moon elves control the airflow inside the kiln, ensuring that the heat distribution is even. At the same time, wind-power moon elves let out the excess warm air and guide them to where the molded clay tiles are and aid the drying process.
"Now I can understand why you guys are calling this a training," Luis said to Nicol and Olyn, who are always shadowing him anywhere he goes.
It’s already great that Xagrien was busy with the Transportation Circle because he would see the big man sticking beside him if Xagrien had free time. Even if Luis tried to push the man away, he could only choose between his left and right because the man simply refused to leave his side.
Luis is just brilliant at feigning ignorance, but he is aware that from Xagrien to each of his subordinates, every one of them is especially mindful of his actions. Luis could feel through his nape the stares that he was getting.
He was out to supervise and ensure they were not overworking themselves. But it seemed like he was the one being monitored!
’Just what the hell?’ Luis is naturally aware of the reason behind that, but it is still too early!
His dazed thoughts were pulled by the words of his faithful servant.
"Well, it was a fun and productive way of training, so we will never slack off My Lord," replied Olyn with a radiant smile on his face.
Despite his duty to serve the Moon Elf Lord, he always finds an opportunity to go to the building group. There, he used his earth power to erect sturdy underground foundations for each house, just like the rest of the earth clans.
Most of the moon elves of Amber Forest belonged to earth clans, so Luis didn’t experience a shortage of stone masons and housebuilders.
This is one of the reasons that explains why they finished the houses in the nick of time.
"Of course it is," Luis helplessly smiled.
Nicol saw the expression of the Moon Elf Lord and was quick to soothe the worry of his lord, "Urm, My Lord, please do not worry. They are more conscious of their health and slowly getting the hang of time management."
Luis noticed the hoarse voice of his Head Priest, "Speaking of health, are you okay, Nicol?"
His dark green eyes landed on every corner of the tan man’s face, and realized a few oddities in Nicol’s condition, "You are a bit flushed, and you are sweating a little."
To Nicol’s surprise, the Moon Elf Lord stretched his hand to touch his forehead, "My Lord! What is it?"
Luis raised his eyebrows upon seeing the self-conscious reaction of the head priest.
"My Lord, you are finally..." Nicol mouthed the words mated.
’Ah, right. I must be careful because a mated bearer should not be touched by any man except their mate.’
"Then Olyn, is it okay..." Luis’ words trailed off as the information from the inheritance flashed in his head.
Unmated bearers are also not allowed to initiate skin ship, damn it!
"Argh, so how do we go about this?" Luis asked himself.
He scanned the kilns and saw that all the males were busy doing their own delicate work. Luis doesn’t have the heart to interrupt the dynamics of such a complicated process.
"I am alright, My Lord. Urm, I am just a little thirsty," said the obviously unwell head priest.
"Thirsty, my ass!"
The Moon Elf Lord strongly countered, and after saying that, he saw the group of orcs and moon elves pushing a truck-sized cart toward them.
He recognized Sibal in one of the orcs, and an idea struck him.
"Patriarch Sibal," He called the handsome orc with dark blue hair.
Although still composed, the other appeared to be a little embarrassed.
"My Lord, I am not the patriarch of our Lune Clan," the man said.
Despite being appointed as the new clan’s representative in the Tribunal, Sibal is adamant in denying that he is the patriarch of the Lune Clan. Luis doesn’t know the real reason, but he could guess a little.
He was careful not to attract the elitist clans who still hadn’t entirely accepted their presence.
’Isan, Ris and Soriya... What should I do to make them drop their stubbornness?’ Luis wondered as he looked at Sibal.
"Can you lend us a hand for a while? Or are you busy?" Luis looked at the group behind the man. The members enthusiastically bowed their heads as a greeting to him, to which he responded by waving his hands at them.
"No, My Lord. I am just supervising the logistics group. They can move on their own. Uhm," Sibal curiously looked at the two moon elves beside the Moon Elf Lord. "What can I help you with?"
"The construction was smooth thanks to you and all the hardworking logistic personnel in your care. At this point, I am no longer surprised if, one of these days, the residential houses are all done. Great work!" The Moon Elf Lord didn’t forget to say his thanks before asking for a favor.
It’s a habit that he formed working as an office worker.
Luis pointed at Nicol, "The head priest looked a little unwell, so I wonder if he got a fever or what. Can you check?"
Sibal understood the hand motion that the Moon Elf Lord did to his own forehead, "Alright."
"Head Priest Nicol, Can I check?" He cautiously asked for permission.
He knew that Nicol was kind because back when they were dealing with the beast tide, he was gentle and accommodating to his little brother, Nine.
But unlike Legland, who seemed approachable, the head priest is a little aloof, so he still decided to be a bit careful.
Nicol shook his head and maintained his stubbornness, "I am fine. My throat is a bit dry, that’s it."
"Olyn, bring out my bottle of Sacred Spring water," Luis said. The priests who are going to and fro the Ambrian Plateau and Woodrill never forgot to bring this water for him.
The water from that spring restores the energy and vitality of anyone who drinks it. If the one drinking is injured or ill, the water helps in recuperating.
"My Lord, this is yours!"
"And I gave it to you now," Luis said with finality.
"Just an ordinary water is enough, urm, My Lord." Nicol’s throaty voice sounded again.
"Oh, denying the Sacred Spring’s water means you are confident that you are not ill, then just a little check of body temperature is okay, right?"
"My Lord..."
Olyn and Sibal watched the exchange between the master and subordinate like they were watching a Ping-Pong match.
However, the match ended with an expected outcome, and it was Luis who came out victorious.
"Alright, Sibal."
The stubborn Head Priest finally acquiesced.
Sibal didn’t dilly-dally and did what he was asked for.
"My Lord..." Sibal winced a little after touching the forehead of the Head Priest. "I think this is serious. He’s got a very high fever."
The foreign touch on his forehead made Nicol a little nauseous. He thought it would go away after some time, just like the other day.
"I am fine, My Lord... Just..." he croaked. Nicol didn’t realize that he was slowly losing his balance.
"Head Priest Nicol!" Olyn and Sibal yelled in panic.
"Nicol!"
Sibal quickly caught the falling body of the Moon Elf and firmly nestled him in his arms. The situation doesn’t require him to care about personal space because someone is obviously unwell!
"Let’s bring Nicol to the infirmary! Quick!" The Moon Elf Lord’s panicking voice thundered the Kiln Area that day.
’Damn, when I thought everything was finally okay, something really had to happen!’ Luis cussed under his breath.
