There's Something Wrong With You, My Lord! -
Chapter 188: For The City Completion (2)
Chapter 188: For The City Completion (2)
The building of Transportation Circle is essential for two various reasons. The first is to establish a fast and easy way of trading goods between the two territories, and the second is to serve as a safe and reliable means of traveling for the Metal Clans.
Luis is slowly broadening their perspective about exchanges.
The 14 clans are now in a reasonably stable relationship, as shown by how they completed half of the residential areas, so Luis thought that introducing regular connections with the metal clans was both timely and relevant.
"Feren and Nero will set off to return to the Redhill territory, and they are expected to complete the circle as early as possible."
The earnest voice of the Moon Elf Lord echoed in the defaced open field. In a sitting position, Nero raised his paws to get the Moon elf Lord’s attention.
And he succeeded, Luis internally having a fit after seeing a golden-furred husky waving his little paw-feet.
’So cute!’ he internally screamed and tried his best not to outwardly show that since he was in the middle of business talk.
"My Lord, mind if I ask who will be the one to build the Transportation Circle here in the Woodrill Plains? And how would we know the coordinates?"
Establishing the connection between Transportation Circles is easy as long as the technician or the builder knows the correct coordinates of the other port. Then, all that they need to do is issue a connection request, and the other end is responsible for accepting it. However, relaying information over long distances is a challenging thing, especially in this place where magic is not mainstream.
"Yes, and what about the Mythril needed for setting up the Transportation Circle here?" Feren asked. He didn’t dare to play around this time since the Moon Elf Lord showed him who was the true overlord between them earlier.
Gosh, he still can’t believe that a thin, circular piece of wood could obliterate a mountain-like chunk of adamantium whose toughness is close to a real one.
"That is a great question!" Luis replied with a slight smile on his face. Now, he understands why his former teachers like those students who actively ask questions during class. It means that they are keenly listening to him.
Luis pointed to the cloaked figure standing beside the Winged Serpent.
"Xerxes, here, is proficient in anything magic-related, so with Xagrien’s help, they can manage. Later, I will guide you to the exact location where we will build the circle here in Woodrill Plains."
"Oh, just to let you know, it’s in front of the proposed city administration building," Luis added to give them a hint about the coordinates. "As for the Mythril, we have-"
Xerxes suddenly raised his hand and said, "I can give you some."
Everyone craned their necks to look at this mysterious man. They knew nothing about his origins, but knowing that the Moon Elf Lord brought him in, they found no trouble with him.
"Oh?" Luis slightly leaned his body forward. He knew that Xerxes was loaded, seeing that his lair was shining with precious gems, so it was natural for this Blizzard Dragon to have a little stock of Mythril in his collection.
But a dragon would openly be giving stash?
Luis slowly raised his other eyebrow. He is a little doubtful about this man’s intention.
The little tree spirit has an attitude in striking a deal, so there is a thick chance that this man is the one who taught that innocent one how to maximize his profits with limited investments.
Xerxes instantly realized that there was something with the pause and gesture of the Moon Elf Lord, so he said, "I am just doing this as a payback for the help that you gave me back in the Shane Greenwoods’ Inner Circle."
Luis flashed a bright smile after that, "Okay then. You were welcome to sponsor our Mythril supply. Anything else?"
"What? What anything else?" Xerxes sounded taken aback.
"Oh, nothing," Luis shook his head while pressing down the smirk on his lips.
"I thought you’re..." he said in suspense, and he intended to leave it at that, but a very kind help sounded from the innocent tree spirit. Which made Luis wish he had made the winged serpent mouthless.
"The Moon Elf Lord asks if you have anything else to give."
Because it sounded immature and the comedic duck face that the Moon Elf Lord made, the other subordinates couldn’t stop themselves from snickering.
"What? I am not that shameless!" Luis denied it, cooly, even though his intention of asking that question was basically laid bare by the manager of the entire Amber Forest. Who knows, maybe Xerxes would provide them something helpful for them?
"I am keeping it with me. I didn’t expect that you would realize it without me saying it. As expected of the Moon Elf Lord."
Xerxes took something inside his cloak. It’s a small crystal ball mounted on a golden handle. Luis saw a small piece of clear blue mana stone attached to the butt of the carved handle. This is a magic tool!
Everyone’s attention is instantly pulled by this curious object.
Luis’ eyes widened upon seeing the item. Not because he recognized it but because he didn’t expect that Xerxes would give them something. And he prepared it ahead of time.
So, not all dragons are selfish, huh? Luis’ smiled broader than a blooming sunflower.
"That is?" Xagrien asked upon seeing the foreign object. He could feel its faint traces of magic, which caught his innate interest in magic.
"This is a handheld communication orb powered by a mana stone, so anyone could use it regardless of whether they have mana. Its primary function is to send handwritten messages over long distances. Because it is small, its operations are also limited.
"Indeed!" Luis immediately replied. Even if he dies, he will never admit that he is thinking of something else.
Xerxes didn’t mind the Moon Elf Lord’s reaction and just continued. "It is impossible to see the other people’s faces using it, unlike the bigger communication orb."
"Well, this would do! We are not choosy since we are still starting up! Feren! Once everything is over, let’s study this thing and make it into something flat and has more functionalities!" He called the old man. Of course, he wanted to have something like a smartphone in this world!
But Luis knew that was only a pipe dream for now. He’s got other things to do.
"Huh?" The poor perverted old man looked confused for a moment, then, just to answer, he said, "Alright, My Lord."
Little did he know he is signing up for months of sleepless nights because of the Moon Elf Lord’s whims, and by the time his old bones want to back out, he is helpless to do so since the entire race will antagonize him because all the urges of a bearing bearer must be fulfilled.
Since the questions of his subordinates are properly addressed, and even the parts where they were lacking are now solved, Luis is in a better mood.
He is in the mood to joke around, so he looked at Xerxes with a naughty smirk on his lips once again and poked, "Anything else?"
Legland and Nicol couldn’t help but laugh at their Lord’s cheekiness.
"Oh, yes, Moon Elf Lord. I have something. I almost forgot about it."
"Really?" Luis’s eyes shone like stars upon hearing that Xerxes still had more gifts for them.
Call him shameless or opportunistic, but who wouldn’t want free gifts anyway?
With great anticipation, Luis waited for the present to come.
"I forgot to give you my congratulations, Moon Elf Lord. It’s a happy occasion to have a child regardless of race."
The smile on Luis’ face turned stale, "T-that’s it?"
"Why? That is the best gift anyone could have," Xerxes said matter-of-factly. Obviously, he is referring to a child.
’That is a blessing indeed, but I am still not pregnant!’ Luis lamented deep inside.
Now, he is kind of regretting that he lost his virginity. How could he not when everyone is slapping to his face that he is pregnant.
Damn!
Xagrien, the culprit of the slip-up, moved beside the Moon Elf Lord and lowered his head to whisper. "I see now, when your greed overpowers you, you become gullible."
"Shut up," Luis rolled his eyes. He didn’t realize the man’s hands were resting on his abdomen.
Xerxes saw this gesture, and he couldn’t help but be smug. ’Should I say something to completely stir up the Moon Elf Lord? Forget it. I don’t want to be hated.’ The male dragons have a strong sense of detecting blood, so ho much more if...
Xerxes didn’t continue any further and just kept it to himself.
The Moon Elf Lord just shakes off Xerxes jest as if he isn’t the one who joked in the first place.
Luis moved on to the last instructions regarding the creation of steel. Although this is the initial reason the Transportation Circles are realized, Luis is flexible about it.
If the Metal Clan failed to do it using his words or opted not to do it because of the pollution it brings, then it is okay.
Luis could make do with whatever materials were present to build the other massive structures that were part of the plan.
But above all, he wants to bolster the exchange between the Metal Clans for economic and security purposes.
It’s also time for the moon elves and orcs under him to stack their armory. Just in case an unforeseen enemy suddenly barged in.
That’s why his strict instruction to Nero and Feren is to make the Transportation Circle no matter what.
After saying his piece, Luis dismissed his subordinates, and everyone moved to do their respective jobs. With their collective efforts, the Woodrill City is slowly taking it’s majestic form.
