The Young Miss Refuse To Love -
Chapter 35: I want to be you
Chapter 35: I want to be you
"But you, Qi Jianyi, have it all."
Qi Jianyi read the line with horror. She had a bad premonition ever since she read the lines on the third pages. Especially when she read the original Qi Jianyi’s writing as if she wrote a letter for her to read.
As if, this brown book was meant for her.
As if, the original Qi Jianyi would know that Qi Jianyi would one day take her place and live as the young miss of the Qi family.
But how? How could the original Qi Jianyi know about her existence? They came from different dimensions and worlds. Not to mention, this world only exists in the novel.
"I envy you. You have everything. Ever since I was a kid, I could see your life in my dreams. At first, I thought it was just a fantasy, nothing more than a figment of my imagination.
But you kept appearing, night after night. You were so happy, so cheerful, so full of life. You were everything I wasn’t. While my life was confined to this big, empty mansion, you were out there, living the life I could only dream of.
You had the confidence I craved. You were bold, arrogant, and tough. You grew up like a little princess, adored by your parents. I watched as you transformed from a carefree girl into someone cold and distant.
Our lives were worlds apart, yet as I watched you slowly lose your liveliness, a twisted sense of satisfaction crept into my heart. It was as if you were finally sharing the pain I had always known. I know it’s wrong to think that way, but I was so consumed by jealousy.
But why? Why, even after losing your cheerfulness and becoming cold and arrogant, people still flock to you? Why did they still talk to you, play with you, and always include you in their conversations?
You were just like me—difficult to approach. Yet, for some reason, they always reached out to you, sincerely. You even got the boy you liked. Despite the differences between your families, you two somehow made it work.
But you, Qi Jianyi. You wasted it all! You took everything for granted, blinded by your pursuit of wealth. I watched as you stayed up all night to meet deadlines, ignoring the people who loved you.
I couldn’t understand. How could you be so busy that you abandoned those who cared for you? You were a fool.
I witnessed every moment. I watched as you lost everything you once cherished. Your friends drifted away, and your lover left you. Yet, not once did I see you falter.
You still stayed up all night, focused on your laptop, answering phone calls at odd hours just to complete your work. Even after losing the man you once loved, I never saw you shed a single tear.
You didn’t cry. You smiled when he said he wanted to end things. You laughed when your friends accused you of deliberately avoiding them. You didn’t explain anything.
Why? Why didn’t you cry? Didn’t it hurt to lose the people you loved? I couldn’t understand you, and I hated you for that. Then one night, I watched you go to the bank to withdraw money. You smiled so brightly. I saw you rush home, sitting opposite your parents with that same bright smile.
You handed them a stack of money. You told your mom she could stop working, that she could finally rest. You told your dad he didn’t need to do part-time jobs anymore because you had made enough to pay off the debt.
I watched them cry. You smiled even more brightly as they hugged you. You were so happy, while your parents were overwhelmed with guilt, distressed by the thought of their daughter making money for them.
They appreciated your efforts, and you comforted them, coaxing them to stop crying. It was a touching scene and it made me even more jealous of your life.
In that moment, seeing your interaction with your parents, I finally understood everything. I understood why you never wavered, even after losing everything. Your parents needed you. They needed you to pull them out of the misery of poverty. And you did it.
You gave them the wealth they needed without ever telling them how much you had sacrificed."
Qi Jianyi clutched her chest tightly, feeling as if something had lodged itself in her throat, cutting off her breath. Tears welled up in her eyes, and despite her reluctance, they spilled over, streaking her cheeks.
Shock, fear, amazement—these emotions washed over her all at once. The sudden truth left her reeling. She had never imagined that the original Qi Jianyi had been watching her life unfold, that her every step, every sacrifice, had been observed.
Her hard work, the silent battles she fought in the solitude of her room, had been seen, appreciated, and understood by someone she never even knew existed. She had always believed she was alone in her struggle, that no one saw the pain she carried or the emotions she buried deep within, refusing to let them burst forth.
Of course it hurt. Losing everyone she cherished had cut deeply into the teenage Qi Jianyi. But what choice did she have? Her family was in trouble, drowning in poverty. She couldn’t just stand by and watch as her parents silently shed tears of despair.
So, she forced herself to grow up quickly. She swallowed her grievances, suppressing her pain because something far more important than her feelings was at stake.
All this time, Qi Jianyi had believed she would have to carry her burdens alone until the end of her days. But now, she realised that there was someone who finally understood her actions, someone who had witnessed her struggles and her sacrifices.
And in a cruel twist of fate, that person was herself, in a different world.
Back then, she hadn’t had the luxury of choice. She couldn’t waver between friends, love, or money. The answer had been clear: money. Without hesitation, Qi Jianyi chose wealth. She needed it desperately, more than anything else in her life.
Qi Jianyi turned the book to the next page, she felt as if the truth of her sudden transmigration was near.
"You are me and I am you but I admire you, envy you. There were times when you wished your parents were wealthy so you could let go of everything and finally rest. Meanwhile, I watched the harmony in your family and found myself wishing mine wasn’t rich, just so I could experience what you had.
You’ve lived a fulfilled life, only to stumble upon poverty. I possess the wealth you could only dream of, yet my life has been nothing but a series of lonely days.
Qi Jianyi, I want to be you. I want what you have in life.
For years, I watched you live, laugh, cry, and love. I witnessed it all, and I want it. I want to be selfish, just this once. So please, give me your life. Exchange it with mine. I will give you my wealth—just let me have your family.
One day, let’s meet.
Find me, Qi
