439: Two worlds.

439: Two worlds.

Her mind was blown however by the fact that Aang was somehow involved in this matter.

Many questions jumped around in her mind, like how he was involved in the matter.

Was he like Yanfang, did he have a system too?

Was their meeting a coincidence?

She did wonder initially about why he had easily become a model and endorser for TFK when he had refused her offer a little strongly when she made it back then.

With time, she knew that she would get answers to these questions.

But still, she couldn’t help thinking that this was why you should not trust men with handsome faces.

She put a smile on her face and shrugged.

“If it’s business, i guess i have to hear them out.

I wouldn’t want to miss out on making more money.” They walked together to the book shop and she pretended not to notice that the doors were locked behind them.

The closed sign was even put up.

The entire place was almost empty and even the workers were gone.

Those inside she guessed were with the same group.

She had not expected to see soldiers in this group.

Some of them were dressed in normal clothes but their aura gave them away.

Images and faces were popping up on her virtual screen.

For once, the system elf was voluntarily capturing faces and searching for information online about the different people there.

The most surprising person there was the prosecutor general that had come to her home for the antidote.

“Should i say fruit or shit?” she asked the system.

“Fruity shit.” It answered.

“But we expected something like this to happen.

We just didn’t think he would be one of them.” She stopped walking and turned her head to look at Aang.

“What is this?” she whispered.

“Business.” he took off his mask and smiled.

He walked away and disappeared behind one of the shelves, leaving Alix by herself to face the strangers who were sitting in one of the reading areas.

The book shop was also a library, providing comfortable reading areas.

“Sit down miss Tai.” the prosecutor general told her.

His voice was quite commanding.

Alix sat down and she took a deep breath.

Before they exhausted their information, she would not be giving anything away.

She had been learning power moves from Caishen and one of them was how to stay silent while giving off the appearance of boredom and calm even when she was anxious.

In this game, the first one to talk would lose the upper hand.

She counted fourteen people altogether in the library and three were sitting in front of her.

They didn’t say anything for at least ten minutes and she did the same.

Fifteen more minutes passed and the prosecutor general broke the silence.

“Ha-ha, you are not as easy going and silly as you act.” Alix smiled and she shrugged.

“Take over Maggie.” he instructed.

He stood up and followed in the direction Aang had taken leaving Alix and two strangers.

“Hi, i am Maggie.” yellow hair introduced himself eagerly.

“Alix.” she replied neutrally.

“Mantis.” the woman said.

“Do not comment.” the system yelled in her mind.

The system was familiar with Alix’s thought process.

She was the type to ask why the woman was named mantis or if it was related to a preying mantis and then she would crack a joke which was not funny.

“How may i help you, i am told that we could possibly do business together?” she asked.

Her question seemed to take Mantis back.

“You won’t ask?” she blurted out.

Appearing to be confused, Alix frowned.

“About what?” “Our names, Maggie and Mantis.”  She pointed to the man and then herself.

Alix shook her head and responded with a no.

She would have said something if the system had not warned her ahead of time.

But, it was still rather comical, Maggie and Mantis.

It sounded like the title of a comedy tv show about two best friends living in one apartment but happen to have feelings for each other and….

“Focus.” the system yelled at her.

She shook her head and and looked at the two people.

“You don’t have any jokes!” Mantis blurted out, again.

“Stop it.” Maggie nudged her.

He couldn’t fathom why she was so determined to see to it that the possible new addition to their group would join others in mocking them for their names.

With seriousness he decided to introduce Alix to the matter which had brought them.

“I am going to be straight up with you.

What do you know about systems?”  Alix frowned deeply, playing the fool.

“Huh!”  “Systems, like the ones in novels.

They have hosts and hosts level up after doing certain tasks.

I am sure that you are not going to come out and be straight with us so we will be even more direct with you.”  He slid a picture onto the table.

It was a picture of Alix in her dragon form.

He also added a picture of Majesty, fat and small.

To that, he added a picture of the blood orchid in professor Lai’s lab, the musical orchids and air purifying orchids.

“We cannot forget the antidote to the poison…” Mantis mentioned.

“Which we are very grateful for.” The prosecutor general’s voice came from far away but it reached them quite clearly.

Maggie continued on as the prosecutor general had not spoken.

“Lai Yanfang was a system host.

She had some kind of hypnosis system which she used to murder dozens of people.

You and your hsuband had issues with her and she ended up dead.”  Alix controlled herself not to react.

Lai Yanfang was brain dead but she was certainly.

alive….well, brain death was technically death so it made no difference anyway.

“Her apartment caught fire, the kind which miraculously didn’t spread outside of the apartment.

It was very similar to another fire which burned down the apartment of one Yu Xi who just happened to be your former school bully.”  Mantis slid the picture of the azure blue dragon forward and she tapped it.

“This is you.

We have already confirmed this fact which is why we are approaching you.

now.

I will begin by sharing some facts with you.

One, there are two worlds on this earth, the one that normal people know and the one that only special people know about.

It’s the world of system hosts.

You are not the first one, there are thousands of others on earth like us, scattered all around in different countries.

Hosts have been around for at least one hundred years, give or take a few years.”  “Not a hundred, at least a thousand, get your facts right Mantis.

This is because you don’t want to attend the system history classes.

What kind of watcher doesn’t know our history?” Maggie scolded his partner.

Alix felt a stirring in her heart.

This was it, the information she wanted.

In her mind, she heard her happy system making eating sounds.

“Nom, nom, nom.”
