The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system -
Chapter 417 - 417 Alix's mall
417: Alix’s mall.
417: Alix’s mall.
Alix made it in time for the final preparations of the opening of her mall and everything moved quite smoothly.
More guests than she expected showed up with flowers and gifts for the occasion.
She thought it would be a low key event but press showed up, dozens of reporters that were eager to interview her.
She couldn’t tell if their interest in her was because of the presence of the mayor, her being Zhang Caishen’s wife or because of the mall.
Still, she answered the questions as professionally as she could and even smiled when one of them congratulated her for reaching for the finals of the violin competition.
Grandpa Tai stole her away from the reporters because he had a lot of his own guests to introduce her to and for twenty minutes, she met a lot more elderly people than she had ever met in her life.
Chairman Tai stole her away from his father and he too set out to introduce her to his close friends.
Only a minute later, grandpa Zhang came to retrieve her as if she had been kidnapped by the chairman.
“Alix, come and meet my friend Peng Zetian.” he said as he shot Tai Heng a slight glare.
Alix reacted with politeness as she met this friend of her grandfather.
“Old Peng’s family owns Kangxi group, they make all sorts of chemicals.” grandpa Tai added.
Then, he looked at his friend and asked, “What do you think, she looks just like me, right?” Alix sighed internally at the familiar routine.
Grandpa Tai would introduce her and then brag about her or emphasize their non existent similarity in physical appearance.
His friends so far were playing along.
“She has inherited your business mind, it’s very impressive.” Elder Peng replied.
Grandpa Tai patted his chest proudly before looking around and frowning.
“Young Zhang is late.” “He is here.” Alix told him.
She could tell because the reporters were suddenly excited and there was loud beating of gongs and drums.
Not only had Caishen come but a lot of Zhangs had come along with him and they were being led by a troupe performing a lion dance.
“Hmph!
Are they trying to outshine us?” grandpa Tai said unhappily.
He stormed off to see to it that the fireworks he arranged for had been prepared.
The granddaughter of the Tai family was opening her business.
The news should not be talking about the Zhang’s but her and only her.
Alix meanwhile found herself being swept into the wave of the Zhang’s.
Zhang An firmly grabbed one of her hands while Xiaobo took the other, leading her to the gifts they had brought.
Even before she arrived, the vice principal who had assigned himself the duty of announcing guests and gifts shared what had been brought.
“Zhang group presents ten flower baskets and ten red corals.” “Zhang construction’s CEO presents nine nine roses and a pigeon blood red ring.” “Light entertainment presents one flower basket and a gold Buddha.” Alix was trying hard not to giggle in the meantime at Caishen’s straight face.
His flower basket and gift was quite romantic unlike the rest.
He was being teased by some of his cousins and a few of the Tai brothers too.
Tai Fong was louder than the others however and he said, “Wow, brother-in-law, you sure do know how to stand out.” “She is my wife, what’s there to hide?” Caishen answered boldly.
“Hooo…..” A communal response went around and it was accompanied by happy laughter.
“Auntie i also brought a gift.” Xiaobo eagerly raised his hand.
He pointed Alix in the direction of one of his bodyguards that was carrying a basket of chocolates.
There were so many varieties but all were the kind Alix loved.
“Aunt, i did good.” Alix bent down and kissed his chubby cheek.
“You are the best my Xiaobo.
Your gift is the best one i have received.” The little boy blushed red and he giggled.
Grandma Zhang pinched her great grandson’ cheek and looked at him with so much love in her eyes.
“Xiaobo, are you competing with your uncle for your aunt’s love?
How about you ask your aunt to give you a little sister that looks exactly like her.
Won’t she be the cutest thing ever?” Some of the Zhang’s started to snicker while Zhang Bo put a hand on Caishen’s shoulder and squeezed it.
It was his way of apologizing officially to his brother.
If Xiaobo was roped into their grandmother’s baby scheme, they would never hear the end of it.
Xiaobo could be persistent when he wanted something.
“Oh my gosh look at those deep red corals.” Alix said loudly.
“Who wants chocolates?” She reached for Xiaobo’s gift basket and opened it, helping herself to one of the chocolates.
Luckily for her, Tai Ho Sun introduced a new topic and diverted them all.
The Tai’s and the Zhang’s continued to mingle harmoniously, all of them with one common goal, making sure that Alix was in the spotlight and enjoying herself.
In the midst of the happy mingling, more excitement was aroused when Chan Ki, So Mi and Rain arrived.
Even Alix was surprised to see them as she had not extended any invitation to them.
“Sister, you are going to be on the news tonight for sure.” Tai Jiaan told her.
“Tomorrow too after she wins the violin competition.” Auntie Mo said confidently.
Grandpa Tai was resurrected once again at the mention of the competition.
He set out a new mission of inviting all of his friends to watch his granddaughter win the national violin competition.
“She takes after me you know, i was a talented musician at her age.” he bragged.
Nobody argued with him and they all just nodded or played along.
Even grandpa Zhang happily played along mostly because he was pleased to see all the important people that had come out for Alix.
Seeing the mayor at her beck and call made him even more pleased.
She was like a useful hidden card for their Zhang family surely.
Unless Zhang Bo brought home a more impressive wife then Alix was sure to be the granddaughter-in-law that helped manage their Zhang family in future.
He was aware that she had provided a heart for the grandson of the mayor and he had cleared the path for her to bring in her products and open the mall smoothly.
With his help, Alix would surely curve out her own power branch in the city.
In that moment, he couldn’t help thinking about Lin Qianfan and wondering where the man was or if he knew about this event.
Would he be filled with regrets when he saw this?
As more guests arrived, even more press came because the caliber of guests attending the opening of the mall was very high.
From politicians to celebrities and chairmen of different companies.
Soon it was officially the auspicious time to open the mall and Alix, the mayor and grandfathers of both families gathered in the entrance.
A large red ribbon was held at both ends by two employees of the mall and everyone cut a part of it with their own scissors.
Just like that, Alix opened her second major business.
As expected, the opening of the mall made it to the major evening news, stirring new waves of jealousy in Lin Billi who was still healing and stuck in a hospital bed.
She was so infuriated that she made a call to ruin Alix’s life again.
“You will not be winning anything.” she said with an ugly scowl on her face after hanging up.
