372: Who hasn’t watched Kung Fu Panda?

372: Who hasn’t watched Kung Fu Panda?

Lunch was so good that Alix didn’t say a word until the last grain of rice was finished.

This meal was by far the best she had eaten in Holea’s cafe.

She wondered if this was a meal Caishen would like.

He had loved the risotto, so this could tempt his taste buds too, she thought.

When the server came to take away the plates, she made an order to go.

She was going to deliver it to his office personally.

She wiped her mouth and sipped the last mouthful of her soda meanwhile.

Zhang An and Jin Kang were still eating, chewing slowly like sloths.

“How did i come last but somehow beat you to the finish line?”  “Because you have the strength and appetite of Wu Song.” Jin Kang muttered.

Alix chuckled at the comparison.

Wu Song was a legendary fictional character from water margin, one of the four great classic Chinese novels about a group of outlaws and heroes gathering to fight injustice and prove their loyalty to the emperor.

Wu Song was well known for beating a tiger demon with his bare hands to free the town from terror.

“I don’t think that is the insult you think it is.” Holea told Jin Kang.

“I wasn’t insulting her.” Jin Kang informed Holea.

“Well she looks proud of herself so i guess its a compliment.” Zhang An said.

She had been looking at Alix this whole time, thinking the other would sulk because she had been compared to a man in strength and appetite.

Instead, Alix was smiling casually__, no, it was smirking and not smiling.

“You should have compared her to the panda in dragon warrior.” Holea joked.

“Po.” Jin Kang said loudly, a happy smile on her face.

She started making deep musical sounds from her mouth, ramping up to sing the theme song of her most beloved animation.

“Who is that?” Zhang An asked them.

Three people looked at her in shock.

The way they were staring made Zhang An tilt backwards because they were literally piercing her with their eyes.

Jin Kang even gasped and her chopsticks fell into her plate dramatically.

In a hurried voice, Jin Kang was the first to ask, “How is it possible that you don’t know Kung Fu Panda?”  Zhang An shook her head, her eyes filled with confusion.

Jin Kang looked like she was on the verge of collapsing and she exaggeratedly put a hand over her heart, acting as if she would faint at any second.

“Oh, this is…oh…i can’t…., i really can’t.” Holea was just chuckling while Alix continued looking at Zhang An as if she was an alien.

“Seriously what’s the big deal?” Zhang An asked them.

“It’s just a movie, right?” Jin Kang put her hand on the back of her neck and she moaned.

She was acting like an elderly father who had just been rejected by his daughter in favor of a boy and he was experiencing heartbreak.

Laughing fully now, Holea told Jin Kang.

“Stop it.

It’s just a movie.”  “This calls for movie night.” Alix suggested.

“My place over the weekend.

Who is in?” Jin Kang resurrected with renewed energy and strongly said while looking at Alix.

“No die hard.” Then, she looked at Zhang An and said, “If you dare to tell me that you don’t know die hard the movie i will eat you up just as i have eaten these shrimps rich girl.”  “Calm down.” Alix told Jin Kang.

Jin Kang on the other hand focused on Zhang An fully.

“Rich girl, how do you work in the entertainment business but not know Kung Fu Panda?

It is the single best animation the world has ever seen.

It is the mixture of genius and awesome, uniting the old and young in the fight for justice.

Even a two day old baby knows the theme song.

Are you sure you don’t know it?”  Unbothered now, Zhang An shrugged and she told her, “You can ask me ten thousand times but my answer is not going to change.”  Jin Kang raised her hand, ready to repeat her actions but Alix threw an empty soda bottle at her chest and said, .

“If you touch your neck i will actually twist it so that you can have a genuine reason to hold it.”  Jin Kang lowered her hand and tossed the empty bottle back at Alix who caught it her hands and put it down.

“The Tai family is going to adopt me.

There will be a big celebration on the day the music school breaks off for the long winter holiday.” She suddenly announced.

She stood up then, because she saw the male server coming towards them with the food she had ordered for Caishen.

“Bye guys.” She met him halfway, handed him cash and walked out of the restaurant, leaving behind her friends to discuss the news she had just dropped in their laps.

At Zhang construction meanwhile, Zhang Caishen had received an unwelcome visitor just when he was preparing to leave for lunch.

He was in the mood for one of aunt Sen’s crepes and he intended to go there for the late breakfast which Alix introduced him to and ruined his eating habits.

The visitor was director Rui Ka Kui, a member of the Rui family and someone who sat on their board of directors.

He was also the son of the current president Rui of the huge company.

The Rui family had never done business with Zhang construction, so an abrupt unscheduled visit from someone from their family was intriguing to Caishen.

He just had to know why Rui a Kui had come to see him.

So, he put off lunch and received the guest.

He had been there for close to fifty minutes and all he had talked about was this and that…nothing really tangible.

He had eaten up all of Caishen’s lunch time and Caishen was running out of patience.

He looked at the clock on his wall as it struck two, signaling that the lunch hour was over and he sighed.

“Mr.

Rui, I have a meeting to attend so if we can wrap this up right now, i will be grateful.

Perhaps we can meet another time if you want to discuss business.”  Rui Ka Kui, scratched his scruffy beard and touched the bridge of his glasses.

He returned a shrewd look to Caishen and said, “I hear that you are looking to sell off land with rare earth minerals.”  The Rui family was involved in mining and ore processing all around the world.

Initially, Caishen thought that maybe that’s why Rui Ka Kui was there but now, not so much.

If he had come to discuss business, he wouldn’t have wasted all that time.

“I signed a contract selling the land two hours ago, i am afraid that you are too late.” He replied.

Biming had already delivered the paperwork to the new owners, the country or secretary of the minister for mining.

Rui Ka Kui moved his head slowly, nodding up and down.

His itchy hands located the chess game and he unconsciously moved one of the chess pieces.

His action made Caishen grit his teeth as he didn’t want anyone touching what was his.

The man showed no intention to leave anytime soon and this was beginning to annoy him.
