Chapter 371 - 371 Holea's booming business
371: Holea’s booming business.
371: Holea’s booming business.
During the lunch break, Alix passed by the hospital to visit the second elder.
This time round, she was welcomed like a heroine by his family.
She brought some flowers for him, one being a potted orchid to help him sleep better.
The second elder was awake and out of danger, his eyes were open and he could say a word or two.
Recovery after the poisoning would take him two to three weeks at least.
But overall, all was looking up.
From the hospital, she went to Holea’s cafe where she met up with her friends for lunch.
She was the last of the four to arrive since she took a detour to the hospital.
Everyone was already eating when she arrived.
Swiftly, she slid into the empty chair between Holea and Zhang An.
“Hey guys.” “You are late.” Jin Kang said.
She looked at their plates from one to another and replied, “I passed by the hospital first.” The male server who usually tended to them slid a plate onto the table in front of Alix.
Holea tapped the plate with one of her nails and told her, “We are introducing chocolate eclairs in the cafe, tell me what you think.” Jin Kang had already tasted the eclairs so she was more interested in something else.
“Why were you at the hospital?” Alix was more invested in the eclairs than the question.
All the cells inside her body were vibrating and dancing at the sight of the three chocolate rich pastries.
She picked up one and took a very big bite.
She closed her eyes and moaned.
To her old friends, this was the typical sign that she was now lost in the wonderful chocolate world of her imagination.
Until, the remaining two and a half eclairs were done, she would not say anything sensible.
“Forget her, she is now a lost cause.” Jin Kang said with a shake of her head.
“Sister Alix really loves chocolate.” Zhang An said.
The other two nodded.
Jin Kang snickered and said, “She is a lazy swimmer but if you throw her in a lake full of chocolate then she could win gold.” “No wonder Xiaobo said that he is only bringing back chocolates from his trip to Switzerland.” Zhang An muttered.
She reached for her bag on the table and brought out a small box with a ribbon.
It was obviously a present and she placed it in front of the now empty chocolate éclair plate which had been polished off.
Alix was still chewing when she saw the gift and she looked curiously at Zhang An.
“Congratulations for passing the second phase of your violin auditions.” Alix smiled, wiped her hands and unwrapped the gift.
Inside was a beautiful golden necklace with a woman playing a small violin.
“Woah and wow.” she exclaimed.
“It’s beautiful.” She admired it for a few seconds before putting it back inside the box.
“Thank you sister-in-law.” Jin Kang was rather puzzled and the reason for this was because Alix had not won the competition yet so gift giving seemed a little premature.
“Should we have brought gifts as well?” “No, this is just my way of apologizing to my sister-in-law for the way i behaved in the past.” Zhang An responded.
Jin Kang smiled knowingly and she said in an amused voice, “Aah, you called my friend a pigeon.
Rich girl, i had forgotten about this until this very minute.
You, how could you mistake the phoenix for the pigeon.
All that money must have made you blind.” Zhang An lowered her head and almost buried her head in her food.
“Wasn’t it a parrot?” Holea mumbled.
In a squeaky voice, Zhang An told her, “No, it was a pigeon.” It was hard to tell if it was the pigeon or the squeakiness of Zhang An’s voice but something made the women laugh, Zhang An inclusive.
“I think i would have given anything to be a fly on the wall inside your house that night rich girl.
Did Alix say fruit at any point?” Jin Kang eagerly asked.
Alix shook her head.
That night was one she would never forget in her life.
She had hardly said a thing to them that night because she was uneasy and frightened.
“She was trembling like a leaf.” Zhang An answered.
“But honestly, we were all confused….” The male server brought Alix’s food while Zhang was still talking and the ladies maintained silence for about ten seconds as the food was being served and a bottle of soda was opened for Alix.
“Coconut shrimp and rice with corn.” he said.
Alix’s nostrils twitched as she drew in the wonderful smell.
The air inside Holea’s cafe smelled rather appetizing today and the smell had drifted all the way out into the street.
In fact, when Alix entered, she was only allowed inside because she a VIP of the cafe.
There was a line of customers outside, old and new that were waiting for an opportunity to come in and sample the pastries and food.
“This smells amazing, your chefs have improved.” Alix complimented Holea.
Holea didn’t smile or pretend to be coy.
Straight up, she told Alix the truth, giving her credit for the recent changes in the cafe.
“It’s the spices you provided, both for the tea and other things, they have given us an edge over other cafes and restaurants in the area.
Even the big hotels have started adding our cafe to their eatery recommendations.” Alix had seen a few delivery men and women outside.
Indeed, business was thriving for her friend.
“I was going to give you shares in Fuwen high but i am about to change my mind because you look like you are going to be richer than me soon.” Holea shrugged, a little proud of herself.
Even though Alix provided the spices, beef jerky and some other things, it was her that came up with the recipes.
Jin Kang was already aware of Alix’s plan to distribute shares to them.
They were already partners an investors in the music school so Alix figured adding Fuwen high was no different.
She raised her right hands which was holding a pair of chopsticks and she said, “I would just like to put it out there that i want the shares and I will take hers as well.” Zhang An who was paying attention to the conversation came to a realization and her eyes widened.
“Damn, Alix are these the things you offered Lexian in exchange for shares in her restaurant?” Alix nodded.
“She turned me down in a message.
Even though she had to get rid of her old partner thanks to your brother, she refused to have me involved as a full time partner and chose to go at it alone.” “What an idiot.” Zhang An exploded softly.
She could also see the difference in Holea’s cafe now compared to the first time she had come over.
You could see that business was booming.
Zhang Lexian was running a restaurant, if she allowed Alix to be her partner, wouldn’t her business explode as well?
With an unbothered face and shrug Alix told her, “It’s her business so she can decide what she wants to do.” She picked up her chopsticks, twirled them around her fingers and then settled on enjoying her meal.
