The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system -
Chapter 360 - 360 Hubby to the rescue
360: Hubby to the rescue.
360: Hubby to the rescue.
So, grandpa Zhang had revealed the cause of the illness, this much was evident.
It wasn’t something she had anticipated being asked by an outsider.
Alix used her free left hand to scratch the back of her right hand which Caishen was still holding on to.
This was a loaded question that needed careful responding to.
She couldn’t reveal how she knew what she knew or she had known about the poison or the antidote.
The question elicited different reactions from the people in the living room.
The Zhang’s all frowned, especially Caishen whose disapproval could not be hidden.
The prosecutor general smiled secretly and hid his lips behind the tea cup, trying to appear not overly interested in the response.
Doctor Ming on the other hand didn’t take his eyes off Alix, staring at her intensely, so intensely that it made her uncomfortable.
“It was me.” Caishen said.
All the people in the room turned their eyes to him.
Alix cleverly kept her mouth shut.
If her hubby was coming to the rescue for some reason then she was all for it.
“I did a lot of medical research when i was bedridden so i have a lot of research on even the most rare toxins and cures in the world.
It didn’t matter if only a single person in the world was affected by some unknown disease or if they lived in the North pole.
If there was hope, i wanted it.
I guess i was looking for any miracle i could find.” he explained.
Doctor Ming’s brows furrowed because he was there at the hospital when Caishen had been brought in after the accident.
Half of the experts at the hospital had been commandeered by the hospital chairman to check on every part of his body.
The illness they were speaking of right now was not related to his condition back then.
He was lying, and doing it so smoothly.
“Young master, how is your medical condition related to the poisoning?
This poison was not what caused your current condition unless there is something you have not revealed about your medical state.” “I am under no obligation to discuss my medical condition with you doctor Ming.
Why should i share such private details with you?” Caishen answered coldly.
Doctor Ming’s lips twitched in disapproval and a little anger.
“But this is important…” The prosecutor general put a hand on doctor Ming’s arm and shook his head.
He had this neutral smile on his face as if it didn’t matter if they got answers out of Caishen and Alix or not.
“Professor, he is right.
They do not owe us any answers, they have already given us as much help as they can.
Miss Lin….” “Tai.” Grandpa Zhang spoke up, cutting the prosecutor general off unintentionally.
The prosecutor general didn’t react and he just amended his words.
“Miss Tai, is going to give us some of the antidote.
She didn’t even hesitate to say yes when i requested and that alone is enough.” He put down his cup of tea and smiled at Alix with unhidden approval.
“You will have a lot of friends in high places after this, miss Tai.
Please, don’t hesitate to reach out if you are ever in trouble or need a favor.” One of the soldiers handed her a white business card with a singular number.
“Well, i cannot stay here long…..” he said.
His words left something hanging, communicating indirectly.
His eyes however communicated a lot and Alix understood what he meant.
He was telling her to hand over the antidote.
She stood up and walked away quickly, going into the bedroom.
She needed privacy because she couldn’t take the antidote out of thin air.
Meanwhile, prosecutor general turned to Caishen and he said, “So, CEO Zhang, i hear that you have acquired land that has some rare earth mineral deposits.” “I have.” He didn’t bother denying what was a fact when he was shopping around for the highest bidder.
“The state is interested in acquiring the rights to the land.
It’s not my department but i was asked to make an introduction.
If you don’t have any hold ups, the transaction can be wrapped up tomorrow.” “You should know my asking price.” “That is a matter between you and the representative that the state will be sending from the ministry itself.
All i have to do is take back a yes or no answer.” “Yes, if the price is right.” Caishen replied strongly.
“My grandson takes no prisoners when it comes to business.
I am afraid that you will not be getting any other answer out of him other than that one.” Grandpa Zhang told the prosecutor general.
The prosecutor general’s hands moved around as he gestured, “I understand…..” His words broke off when two cats raced through the middle of the living room and leaped over the table and continued on until they landed on top of a large fishing tank.
The fishing tank had two large gold fish that caught his attention right from the moment when he sat down.
The shimmering of the scales was just so beautiful.
The fish were not his but he was alarmed when he saw the cats near them.
To him, the fish were much more valuable than the cats.
In fact, he didn’t know why people that owned fish also owned cats.
He looked at Caishen, urging him to do something about the cats but Caishen just looked on, unbothered.
Alix returned with a black and green spotted toilet bag in hand.
She didn’t approach the prosecutor general directly but handed the bag to one of the soldiers instead.
Doctor Ming jumped up from where he was sitting, hurried over and took the bag from the soldier.
“I have given you all that we have.
Truth be told, we acquired this expensively and we don’t know much about it.” “We will compensate you of course.” The prosecutor general told her.
“Again, thank you so much for all your help.” Even though he was smiling, Alix could easily read the doubt in his eyes.
He didn’t think that this was all she had and he didn’t think that Caishen was the one that discovered the poison.
A man like this trusted only a few people.
One didn’t get to his position by being easily fooled or swayed by nice words and emotion.
He stood up and put his hands behind his back.
Grandpa Zhang stood up as well, ready to escort the important guest out.
Bo and Yating followed, leaving behind Caishen and Alix in the living room.
Their departure was highly welcomed by her because the presence of the big shot had made everyone uneasy.
He was just a man, and yet the pressure brought on by his presence was so much.
The moment they heard the beeping which told them that the front door was locked, Caishen rushed to her.
“Are you okay?” “I need a hug.” she replied.
He dragged her body off the sofa and she ended up on his lap.
“Let’s go to the bedroom, i think i need your hug too after the day i just had.”
