The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system
Chapter 361 - 361 The talk about his ex

361: The talk about his ex.

361: The talk about his ex.

Outside, at the car, grandpa Zhang and his grandsons were facing the prosecutor general who for some reason appeared to be hesitant to leave.

All farewells had been said, there was nothing left to say.

The prosecutor general lifted one leg to enter the car and then he lowered it back on the ground.

Every time he did that, everyone’s heads would move up comically and then down.

He turned to grandpa Zhang and said, “About the gold fish…” Then he stopped and shook his head.

“Never mind.”  He turned around to leave, lifted a leg and they reacted in the same way and yet again, he lowered his leg and turned around.

“It’s just that the fish are living in a hostile environment.” he said in a hopeless voice that held some despair.

He actually had a pained look on his face.

As a man who kept dozens of pet fish, he wanted the two gold fish as part of his collection.

He had a large fish pond in his home.

He was sure that the fish would be much happier with him.

Grandpa Zhang couldn’t piece together what he was saying.

He looked confused while Zhang Bo that knew what fish he was talking about smiled mysteriously.

The prosecutor general sighed and changed the subject.

He convinced himself not to be too nosy and greedy for the things of others.

“Anyway, how would your granddaughter-in-law like to perform at the CCTV spring festival gala?” Without waiting for a response, he added, “Tell her to think about it and call my office.” Everyone held their breath as he lifted his right foot this time and they sighed in relief when he actually went through with it.

He entered the car and left.

They didn’t relax until the cars were out of their eye view.

They didn’t trust the prosecutor general not to turn around for some reason.

Grandpa Zhang told his grandsons, “All of you should go home and rest now, it has been a long day.

Don’t bother going up to disturb your brother and his wife.

As for you Bo, you need to go back to the company and put out any small fires.

Take advantage of the situation to erase everything online about your parents.

A group of volunteers from the Zhang group needs to be sent to the areas affected by the earthquake.

If they go by road it will take too long so tell them to use the company helicopters.

The PR team will need to take images of you sending them off.” Zhang Bo nodded and he hurried away, as did Zhang Yating who intended to return to the hospital.

They left behind Grandpa Zhang who sighed worriedly after watching them leave.

Even though he had smiled all through, he was worried about the visit from the prosecutor general.

This would not be the last visit, he was certain.

They didn’t even know whose life it was that Alix’s antidote had saved.

Upstairs, Alix and Caishen were laying on the bed, her on top of him.

She was quietly listening to his heartbeat as she contemplated the things that had happened in the last few hours.

Caishen was passing his one of his hands through her hair and another was rubbing her back, moving in circles.

He couldn’t hear her heart beating but he could smell the scent of apples on her and it was comforting.

There was so much he wanted to tell her, especially beginning with Lai Yanfang but he just didn’t know if this was the right moment when they were at peace.

In an hour, he told himself, he would tell her in an hour.

He took in a deep breath and breathed in her scent deeper.

It quietened all the loud troubled voices in his mind.

For a good thirty minutes, they just stayed there, in quiet and peace, holding each other without saying a single word and they would have stayed that way for longer, were it not for the rumbling of her stomach.

“Hungry.” he said.

She nodded.

“When did you last eat?” Caishen’s hand moved from her back to the closest bedside table.

She remembered the meat buns that she had turned down in the morning and her stomach complained again, louder.

She really should have done as Jenny said and eaten in the morning.

“Yesterday.”  Thinking of Jenny made her think of her brothers and the school.

She had got a text from all of them, assuring her that they were fine.

In addition to the texts they sent pictures too.

All of them were at Meifen’s place and they would be spending the night there.

Something poked at her mouth as she was thinking and she opened her mouth.

A dark and white chocolate ball was seeking entrance into her mouth.

She opened her mouth and chewed the ball of chocolate quickly.

“Where is Xiaobo?”  “With my mum.” he placed another chocolate ball at her mouth.

The two didn’t seem to be so eager to get up and resume their lives so they stayed there and Alix ate half a box of chocolates by herself.

Eventually, Caishen stopped feeding them to her because by his count, six were more than enough.

“Does Xiaobo know about the second elder?”  “No, none of the younger ones do.” He shifted his body slightly and moved her so that they could look at each other while talking.

“Did you find anything in the blood?” “I sent it somewhere else.

Professor Lai is is not a source of help i can run to right now.” She looked into his eyes and boldly told him, “He is Lai Yanfang’s uncle.

I met her at your brothers inauguration.” Caishen moved his body and looked up, sighing loudly.

“You don’t want to talk about her i take it.” Alix said.

She lifted her body and sat up.

“No__, no.

I was actually planning to discuss her with you.

She is the one behind my accident and i have been investigating her for a while.

I don’t know what she is after but she has also been stalking me in these last few years.

She found my father first and approached his second family through a careful scheme that involved insurance and loans.

Bo and Mo Sen think that she could be behind the second elders poisoning.” “And what do you think?” she responded calmly.

He observed her eyes, trying to read what was inside.

She was a lot more calm than he thought she would be.

He had built up all these scenarios in her mind about feelings of betrayal or anger but she was just neutral.

He didn’t really know if he should be worried or joyed by this.

“I think she is capable of it.” he said, honestly.

“But i am a man that believes in evidence.

Without proof, i will keep doubting myself and wondering if we made the right decision to retaliate against her.”  In Alix’s mind, the blue elf applauded happily.

“Woohoo, finally someone who speaks my language.

Ask him what they plan to do and then we can beat them to it.”  She on the other hand was more inquisitive than festive.

Were the Zhangs going to kill Yanfang?

“Retaliate, what do you mean?”
