The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system
Chapter 354 - 354 Conspiracy theorist or nut job

354: Conspiracy theorist or nut job?

354: Conspiracy theorist or nut job?

Alix took the very first cab she came across and left the hospital.

She didn’t actually plan on returning later in the day, not unless she was asked to.

Navigating the politics of the Zhang family was also complicated and she didn’t want to be overly involved.

She had saved the second elder and that was enough for now.

She got her phone from her bag and checked the circulating news online.

The one rich heir and two wives scandal had died down in light of the earthquake.

“Talk about a lucky break.” She muttered.

Even though it was a lucky break, it was also unfortunate.

The circulating news now was that twenty people had died as a direct or indirect result of the earthquake.

The mayor was giving a speech on one television, the minister of disaster preparedness on another and even the head of the earthquake administration was talking to the public.

They were scrambling to reassure the public that was all well.

Large corporations and rich individuals were donating money and resources already to help the affected.

The pictures being shared by the news however were not beautiful as they showed some devastation, collapsed buildings, bleeding adults and children in tears.

Police and firefighters were already at work assisting the survivors and searching for any injured people.

“How sad and unfortunate.” She mumbled.

The taxi driver who was listening to current news on the radio looked at Alix through the rear view mirror.

He had her mumble and he figured that she was talking about the earthquake.

“It really is unfortunate, right?

Just how many earthquakes will we have in this year alone?

It’s not just earthquakes by the way but also the rising tide on the East Sea two months ago.

In the last three years, a lot of unusual things have happened all around the world.

The weather in the world is not stable anymore and I will tell you whose fault it is.” Alix’s brows shot up.

She drew the conclusion that he was a believer in global warming.

She didn’t want to base it off his physical appearance.

He was a middle aged man, with the common bowl cut hairstyle and a very large black mole on his chin.

While it drew attention to his face, it also made people uncomfortable and Alix looked away quickly so as not to be rude.

He was dressed in a cheap checked shirt that was losing some color.

It had obviously been worn and washed a few times too many.

“It’s those celebrities.” He uttered confidently.

Her mouth opened a little and she frowned a little deeply at his declaration.

Never in her wildest dreams did she think that someone could draw a link between celebrities and unstable weather on earth, especially earthquakes if she was to be specific.

Without skipping a beat, the taxi driver built on his wild theory.

“They keep sacrificing our earth to their cults, worshipping devils and eating babies.

That’s why everything has been ruined in this world.

You might think that I am lying but I am not.” He spoke assuredly.

Alix was too stunned to even reply.

All she could think was that he was probably one of those people that spent so much time on the Internet.

Maybe he was even a conspiracy theorist.

“Or a nutjob.” her system said.

“Perhaps you should evacuate this taxi before he does something dangerous.”  “He looks harmless.” Alix replied.

Meanwhile the taxi driver continued on with his crazy talk.

“Last year, my daughter sent me and her mother to the jade dragon snow mountain for sight seeing.

We had only climbed it for a short while when the earth started shaking and we were all told to go back down.

Later on, i snuck back and saw these people coming down in weird black and purple outfits.

One of them looked like the actress Chin Chin.”  He turned his head around for a few seconds, looked at Alix and told her, “It’s the celebrities for sure.

What could they have been doing on the mountain for it to shake.”  “They could have been shooting a movie.” Alix answered.

It was not uncommon for movie productions to book a scenic spot and use it in shooting a movie.

He had just said it that an actress was involved.

It was a far reach to go from that incident to this one.

“Let me out here.” she told him.

The taxi driver looked to his left and saw a bus stop so he stopped.

Alix handed him a note of one hundred yuan and said, “Keep the change.”  He smiled broadly and put the money in the front pocket of his shirt.

“Be careful young lady, don’t fall victim to those bad people.” he loudly reminded her.

“Thank you.” She smiled stiffly and slammed the taxi door shut.

She had no plans of taking his reminder seriously because it was nothing but nonsense, the musings of a man that spent all day in a taxi cab listening to all sorts of news and theories from strangers.

While the green cab drove away, she stood on the curb and raised the hood of her jacket to cover her head.

She didn’t take a bus but decided to walk.

She wanted to hold a conversation with the system without anyone interfering like the talkative taxi driver.

She had already sent one syringe filled with the blood of the second elder to the system elf.

“Have you found anything in the blood?”  “What makes you think that i found anything?” it asked.

She looked at the virtual screen and noticed the evident smugness and cockiness on it’s face.

It was never had for her to read the emotions of the elf.

“Little blue smurf, let’s not pretend that you haven’t found something.”  “You know i hate that name.” it flew around on the virtual screen, making it’s anger loudly known.

“Give me answers.

You said things were getting weird so explain to me why things are weird and why you needed the blood.”  “Say please.” it told her.

“Mmm…” she responded.

“If you won’t tell me then i will have to get answers from the professor.

But, if he is unhelpful then i won’t sell any plants and we won’t have money for the fourth world.”  The blue elf glared at her and rolled its eyes unnecessarily.

It’s weak point was money.

“Fine, i will make this quick.

The poison which was given to Zhang Sensen is not supposed to exist on your earth.

It’s made from the root of a rare plant named Eguava.”  “We have guava here.” she said.

“No, not your guava.” It yelled.

Alix didn’t comment on the yelling because she knew it was just agitated because it had lost the battle between them.

On the virtual screen, the image of a short tree appeared.

It had little dark purple flowers.

“This plant exists on one world only, Santoris, a very….uhm….you wouldn’t want to live there.

But anyway, if someone is using poison from Santoris on this low developed world which doesn’t even have the capability to travel through worlds then i am worried.

You are involved with the Zhang family so maybe you will be a target too.”
