This is supposed to be meditation but I can’t focus because I am terrified of the outcome of whatever we are doing. Rex is being very supportive right now--I didn’t even know I needed this.

"Just breathe,’’ he calls to me calmly.

I cross my legs as the prickly grass rubs against my skin roughly and take a couple of deep breaths. "I am right here if you need anything. Just call me out,’’ he adds and I nod because his presence is strong and comforting.

I am here now. Say what you want to say.

These are just thoughts in my head but they should be able to hear me. I mean, she is always invading my thoughts.

"I am here. I am here now. I am here. I am here, listening to you. say what you have to say,’’ I shout to the air opening my eyes. I see Rex and he is watching me quietly, I don’t mean to freak out but I am exhausted.

"Do you really want to listen to me now?’’ I look above him and she is standing there. in the same dress and no shoes. She looks beautiful. her eyes are fearful and her face is pale. the wind blows her hair freely.

"Can you see her?’’ I ask Rex--"He can’t see me,’’ she answers before he gets the chance to turn around. Her voice is soft and quiet, there is pain etched in the depth of the sound.

"Just focus on her, I am not here,’’ Rex tells me and I take it that he actually can’t see her.

"Who are you?’’ I ask her.

"Someone that needs your help,’’

I nod. okay, we are communicating. I mean that is the point of this. if I let the fear get to me, I wouldn’t listen to her.

"What do you want me to do for you then?’’ I ask her, trying to take control of this.

"Help me,’’ she answers and I close my eyes for a second. She is beating around the bush.

"Are you dead?’’ I ask her.

"Yes.’’

I inhale deeply. this is probably the most important question.

"What happened to you?’’

I see her face change, her expression change to sadness. it is hard to look at her. she is just a girl and I don’t know how to deal with this.

"It is alright. just tell me what happened to you,’’ I say to her softly.

"I was murdered, along with the rest of us’’ she tells me, the way she looks at me makes me feel like this is hard for her to say.

I don’t know what to do "Why are you with the book of magic?’’

She closes her eyes and then goes on her knees, now she is next to Rex. His eyes are closed. I guess this is him giving me the chance to talk to her. I don’t know what she expects me to do. I don’t know how I am supposed to help her?

"It is the only way we can communicate with you. it is the only thing that is giving us our powers." She reaches for me and places her hands on me. they are cold. it is so cold I think my insides are shaking. I just want to scream. this is too much for me. "We all need your help.’’ She looks into my eyes; her eyes are so lovely. I can see a little bit of light in them.

"I am not sure what to do,’’ I tell her and she seems to understand.

"I am going to leave the book tonight, in your room. I want you to touch it and be open to the answers it will give you. I want you to see what happened to us and then maybe you can help us." She is backing off and I can’t bear to watch her leave. she looks so lost. I don’t know how to help but I know I have to do something.

"I will try. I will find you and help you,’’ I say to her and she smiles. she is not saying anything but I can tell that she is happy. I don’t know how to help her but I will try.

"Thank you, don’t forget, tonight in your room,’’ she says to me before disappearing in midair.

I look at Rex once she is gone and he is still meditating with his eyes closed. I want to talk to him but I can’t.

"You can open your eyes,’’ I tell him and he does. he looks around and then back at me.

"Did you see anything?’’ I ask him. he looks at me and shakes his head. "She was here?’’ he asks me and I nod.

"She wants me to see what happened to her.’’ I don’t know what to do or what to say. I have no idea how I am supposed to help her. I didn’t even know it was possible to help her.

"Do you want to do it?’’ he asks me.

"I don’t think I have a choice,’’ I tell him and he nods. we get up and start walking back.

I am supposed to do this tonight. I am supposed to be able to help her.

Because I have no choice and I think this is the only way I can be free from whatever curse this is.

"It is going to be okay. just relax,’’ he rests his hand on my shoulder and I feel better. I trust in his words completely. Just we are walking into the house, Blue meets up with us, probably confused that I decided to come outside.

"You’re outside,’’ he says pulling me into his arms with a wide smile on his face.

I melt into his arms because the support I have from the two of them is impeccable. I wouldn’t have been able to survive in this world without Blue and Rex in my life.

They are the ones that are going to get me through this.
