The Werewolf's Vampire Mate -
Chapter 33: Decisions to be made
Chapter 33: Decisions to be made
Beau
Everyone is gathered when I walk into the meeting room. They all look worried; I feel their pain because I am terrified but I have to act like I am not. I have to be strong for everyone.
"Took you long enough," Fallon barks once I am seated.
I roll my eyes because I don’t have a response to his attitude right now. I have bigger things to worry about. "We are under attack," I go straight to the point. I have decided to be completely transparent with them all. No lies, no secrets.
Everyone starts to mumble all at the same time and the room becomes so noisy. They are all worried and I don’t blame them, I am worried too, but I will figure this out. I won’t let that monster win.
"The vamps?" someone in the crowd asks.
I shake my head "Not the vampires, just one. His name is Cassius Blade."
"What does he want from us?"
"He wants us dead."
My answer is honest and that is the way it is going to be from now. They all look at me with shock ridden faces. Everyone is terrified. After the contention, we all lived an easy life. No one is ready for war even though it might actually come to that. We are going to have to fight back, we have to kill him.
"I know this is scary, this is a lot to handle but we have to come up with a plan. We can’t leave the community unguarded. They attacked Moe last night and they plan to come back," I explain.
I get a couple of nods "Is Moe okay?"
"The healers are doing all they can, I will go in later and check on him. For now, I want everyone’s eyes and ears open. We are going to have to put up the fences and lock them up, no children should roam about for the meantime and we only hunt in groups." they all watch me as I lay orders, even Fallon is surprisingly quiet. I know he is waiting for me to fail so he can take over but I don’t plan on failing.
"I will speak Alanis’s family, they are on our side," I assure them "Once they update me, we will know what to do. Please stay indoors and safe," the meeting ends and Fallon stops me on my way back to my room.
"You know you are going to get a lot of us killed,"
I frown "I am trying to be a leader,"
He laughs "You are not ready to lead. You don’t even know what the fuck you are doing," he is not completely wrong. This is all new to me and I am trying my best.
"What do you suppose we do?"
"We have to hunt this bastard down; we can’t wait for an ambush like last night."
As usual, he wants blood on his hands, I will never trust Uncle Fallon, so his opinion will never matter to me. The fact that he wants to take my family out to fight a war that he is so eager for is unbelievable. We don’t even know how to find this Cassius man.
"We can’t start this on our own, we fight him the next time he trespasses. We will not raise the first sword," violence isn’t always the answer. The fact that my mate is a Vampire, makes me a little partial towards his kind. I don’t want to be the cause of another war.
I want peace.
I want to be happy.
"Three of my brothers were killed, your father beheaded and you want us to wait for them to strike again. You are making a big mistake," he brings up the death of my father and this brings a sting to my heart. The reminder that we are going to have to bury him today and say goodbye to him crawls back out and I don’t want to be here with Fallon anymore.
"I have to go," I tell him.
He laughs "I will watch you fail, and don’t say I didn’t warn you," he walks away from me and a sigh escapes my lips. The fact that the only true relative I have doesn’t believe in me hurts.
I go into my room and Alanis is seated on the bed. He looks up with a wide smile when he sees me. I am glad he is back. "Hi."
I crawl to the bed because I just want to breathe him in for a couple of hours "How was the meeting?"
"I told everyone about Cassius,"
He looks at me "Oh, how did they react?"
"Everyone is just scared. This is kind of new to us. No one wants to fight. Except for Fallon,"
"We don’t want it to come to that."
"It might have to though; Moe is fighting for his life right now."
He sits up on the bed and I hold him tightly "Is he going to make it?"
"I don’t think so,"
He sighs and runs his hands through his hair "What if I can help?"
I furrow my brows "What do you mean?"
"Not me specifically but Darrien can heal him,"
"Are you serious?"
He nods. ’’it is a long shot but as long as Moe is still alive, he can be revived. Derrien is the only one in my family that has healing powers. Everyone has different strengths and that is his’’
"Would he agree to this?" I am already getting excited the smile on Alanis’s face is heart-warming.
"I’m sure he would."

I walk into the infirmary and one of the healers smiles warmly at me. I know from her expression that things are not good with Moe. I can smell his scent and it is weak.
"How is he?’’ I ask.
She sighs ’’Not good, his mother has been with him all day,’’ she explains sadly.
’’Can I see him?’’ I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up until Lanis is sure that he can help him. A lot is already happening in the pack, disappointing everyone is not part of my plan. She leads me into one of the rooms and I see Liza—Moe’s mother seated on a chair next to the bed, she stands up immediately and I notice the worn-out expression on her face. in a couple of hours, her whole world has collapsed in front of her.
She manages a faint smile but I see the pain in her eyes, she is hurting from this and I know how she feels completely. Moe is the only one she has, Liza lost her mate to the war and she has raised her son to be a respectable person. Moe is one of the calmest persons I have ever met. He is a Beta, and very caring towards the Alphas of the pack.
"How is he holding up?" I say in the most compassionate tone I can muster.
"He is barely holding up; his scent is weak. I feel like he is slipping away from us," she cries and I can’t help but hold her in a hug. She needs someone right now and by some miracle, if Lanis somehow convinces his brother to help us, he could be saved.
"He is strong, trust in him. He will fight to survive,"
I walk over to the bed after she has let out some of her frustrations in my arms and look at his figure sprawled on the bed. He is less of the man that he is right now. The paleness of his skin is evident. He is breathing but I can hear the beating of his heart. It is weak, just like he looks right now wrapped in bandages. I don’t know what happened to Moe, I don’t know why he had to be the one at the short end of the stick but I will try my best to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
I leave the infirmary and see Jabi sitting on a rock close to my house. He is dressed in only shorts. The bones on his body look a lot more today. "Jabi," I walk over to him and he stands up immediately.
"Hello," he manages nervously.
"Why are you outside, we are in a very dangerous situation right now. I don’t want you roaming around alone." I warn him since he wasn’t in the meeting. There are a lot of things I want to change in this pack. I want to change the stigma that alone omega is not allowed to be involved. He has no one, he is on his own and no one seems to care that he could be killed, having no one to protect him. I hate, that he has to go through this.
"I heard about the vampire, I just wanted to make sure Moe is okay, how is he doing?"
"He will be fine," I assure him because I am going to believe in Lanis. I trust him with my whole being and if he says he can do this then he will do this.
"Don’t worry yourself; he will be fine. Go home right now."
He nods and I watch him leave. I walk back into the house and go into Rex’s room. "I need you to send over meat to Jabi. I need this to be a frequent thing. I can’t have the little pup starving." I order him.
He manages a nod and I leave with thoughts that scare me.
Am I a good leader?
