Chapter 91: Marked by evil

The flames continued to crackle; Evelyn dropped the tea on top of the small coffee table before Abrielle. "Here is your tea, Princess Abrielle? Lunch will be ready shortly, and also, the seamstress will be here to see you in the evening concerning your dress for the victory banquet." Evelyn eagerly explained to Abrielle.

The tea was poured into her cup and then presented to Abrielle; she was lucky in fact, she still had all the host memories, so she didn’t have to worry about her etiquette. "Would you like some milk or want it bland?" Evelyn asked.

"I love it sweet and creamy," Abrielle answered; she had a little sweet tooth. Evelyn nodded and then made her the cup of tea before handing over the saucer and teacup to the princess, who accepted it.

"The tea is refreshing," she complimented, taking a sniff of the black tea riched with Milk and sugar. "Glad it’s up to your taste, here are some sweets. I didn’t know you would if you prefer sandwiches or pastries, so I got the kitchen to prepare a full afternoon tea set. Please, I would love your feedback to be able to serve you better." Evelyn explained.

The more Abrielle knew Evelyn, the more she actually admired her strict personality; she was dedicated to her task and was a wonderful maid, except for the fact that she was loyal to only Cedric and his second-strongest elite.

"Thank you. I will give you feedback and inform me once lunch is ready." Abrielle answered, Evelyn knew this was her cue to leave the room. She gave a bow and then left Abrielle with the foreign woman.

The door was shut before Abrielle opened her mouth; she was not certain if Cedric had his spies watching her or not, but she did know that she needed an ally here.

Even if Zoltana turned out not to be the hermit witch she was going to make Zoltana and the other girl jubilee her own people.

Her eyes then trailed to the lady with golden-toned tanned skin and Silver eyes. Her hair was chocolate brown in colour, and Zoltana’s exquisite features made her striking and have a sexy appeal.

"You are Zoltana if I am not mistaken." Abrielle asked, and Zoltana bowed her head, "Yes, your Highness. Zoltana Bari from the Drizari clan." Zoltana introduced herself.

"So that’s the actual name of the wandering clan," Abrielle mentioned. "Yes, unfortunately, a lot of people call us that. Please, how may I help Your Highness? " Zoltana asked as she took her time to observe the princess.

"You can have a seat," Zoltana was a bit hesitant about sharing a seat with the princess but she followed the instructions given to her.

"Thank you." Abrielle nodded then picked up a biscuit to eat before sipping tea. If not for the fact Cedric might kill her on a whim she might have just enjoyed the relaxing life of an unloved wife.

"Zoltana I have a question for you," Abrielle mentioned with her eyes trailing over to the fireplace. "Whatever you want to ask your highness."

"How did you get into the shadow claw hand?" Abrielle asked because she was unaware of the fact the hermit witch was once a slave. She was certain Zoltana was the hermit witch due to the tattoo on her arm.

Although there was a possibility she might not be the hermit witch, Abrielle was navigating with caution. "It’s a long story, a noble lady asked me to see in her future if the man she loves would accept her. When I told her to give up because the man would kill her she got mad and left. A week later, I was kidnapped. It turned out the woman was killed, and her parents thought I was the one, so I was kidnapped from the Kingdom of Heliosia to Darconia." Zoltana explained.

"That isn’t what I expected; I thought it was because of a debt." Abrielle nervously blurted out then took a sip of her tea. "I do have a lot of people after me though, but that’s the story. This is my first time in Darconia, although my fate has been changed." Zoltana mentioned making Abrielle drop her cup on the table.

"How exactly did your fate change?" She inquired; Zoltana gave her an eerie smile. "You were not meant to be at the auction, and your husband would have let me free, although we might have met later on bad business," Zoltana explained, and Abrielle’s eyes went wide, she was indeed the hermit witch with the ability of foresight.

"But fate isn’t certain. That was the most probable fate like your unfortunate fate. Despite your actions, there is death at every corner, even if it would not come at the hands of those you fear." Zoltana explained, causing Abrielle’s heartbeat to fall to her stomach.

Zoltana approached the princess and then squatted before her, "If you don’t mind, can I have your hands?" Zoltana requested; Abrielle pulled out her gloves and then gave her hand to Zoltana.

Zoltana’s palms were rough against the princess’s tender hands; Zoltana placed her hands together and cupped them with her palms, then started chanting strange words.

The window shattered with the flames flickering as an incoherent whisper filled the room until Zoltana was done. She stared into Abrielle’s eyes and saw something run in her eyes before her gaze settled on the mark on her neck. "Black flames," Zoltana muttered.

Abrielle’s brows furrowed, remembering the tattoo she had no idea about. "Dear princess, your mission seems impossible, but there is a slight chance of success. One mistake you made was having that mark on your neck; that is the mark of evil. As long as it is with you, your fate is entangled with evil," Zoltana explained.

Abrielle started trembling, she had a feeling Zoltana was speaking the truth. "Is there a way to get rid of the mark?" She asked.

Zoltana shocked her head, "Unless you are claimed by greater evil but the darkness I feel from that mark is too powerful, but all hope isn’t lost my mission is to teach you how to unseal your ability of foreign origin I see a glimmer of hope but the evil drawn to you is something I haven’t sensed before."
