Chapter 53: She would be a psycho to like him
It was unexpected that Cedric agreed to the hunt but regardless Abrielle was excited to go even though she was not mentally prepared for it. After getting ready in the morning with the thickest fabrics, she had an eventless breakfast with Cedric before heading to the carriage.
By now almost everything was covered in white with the tree losing all vibrant colours. The weather was a bit friendly at least they didn’t have to make a journey to the mountains under a blizzard which would be disastrous.
The door was pulled open drawing her mind from thoughts. She had been acting rash earlier and hadn’t considered all the unknown because she thought the plot could be as simple as writing on a piece of paper.
To kill someone from a disadvantaged stand was not easy especially if it’s somebody known as a tyrant. Her eyes met with his gold eyes, today he was finally wearing something that wasn’t black.
Why did she even notice that in the first place? She scoffed at herself. Cedric’s outfit was dark blue and he had a casual smile on his face.
Cedric took his seat by her side and she quickly averted her eyes to look through the window. "I was starting to wonder if you changed your mind." She mumbled. The carriage rocked a bit and started to move.
"I was considering that too, I honestly don’t see anything fun in Hunting in the snow for hours." He absently answered and the carriage went silent.
It was a long ride, as they headed north for the mountain lands of Danbury where the hunt would be held. Abrielle was a bit nervous because she didn’t know what to expect.
Things were complicated, she was transmigrated to the pre-sequel of the book where she doesn’t have a clear picture of every event that occurred and she isn’t sure if waiting for the actual plot would help her because she has no idea if the characters were bound to the plot.
What if she falls for this psycho due to the plot and it guarantees her death? The only thing she was certain of was that she would not be running into the main characters because according to the plot backstory they were not in Darconia at this period.
The carriage was steady as the horses made their way through the snow, luckily the road was cleared ahead of the hunt. The surroundings were like a continuous stretch of white so it got boring to watch.
After a while, she glanced in the other direction to check on the annoying man seated by her side. Cedric was laid back with his eyes closed as if he was asleep.
He was gorgeous and the perfect description of the prettier something is the more dangerous it was. She was struck by his charms.
She couldn’t help but stare at him. As he closed his eyes, his face relaxed and looked even more handsome. His eyelashes hid the intensity of his gaze that made her tremble at times, and his lips softened into a gentle curve
. The strong lines of his jaw and cheekbones were still there, but they seemed less sharp. He looked calm and peaceful like he was lost in thought. She felt her heart slow down as she watched him, wondering what was going through his mind.
Did he have peaceful moments like this more frequently? She wondered. "If you keep on staring at me that way I would think dear princess Abrielle had fallen for me again," Cedric mentioned as his eyes slowly opened revealing his gold eyes.
Abrielle quickly averted her eyes. "I thought you were asleep." She blurted trying to focus her gaze at the window. What was wrong with her staring at him that way?
She might accidentally fall for this heartless psychopath. He was dangerous and she should get it stuck in her mind. It was hard to look away, Cedric’s heated gaze was now on her.
"I might think the same with the way you are staring at me, Cedric." She said making sure to use his first name as he requested.
"What if I am?" He casually mentioned and her face went red. That was unexpected. She cleared her throat because she was not expecting that.
"That can’t be possible." She retorted finally turning her gaze back at him but immediately regretted it as she met his gold eyes. "Isn’t it natural for married couples to fall in love?" He chimed leaving her speechless.
Her lips parted and closed, Cedric was amused by her reaction. "Just forget what I said." She retorted then glanced away. Why did her heart beat differently at that moment? Staying in this world was truly making her lose her nuts. She puffed her cheeks frustrated.
Cedric could see it from her reflection on the glass. He averted her gaze followed by a short chuckle that seemed magnetic to the ears. He was making fun of her and part of him Abrielle would never have envisioned.
He was an intense guy by nature. The ride was long and by the time they arrived at the location, it was already late in the afternoon.
Abrielle had fallen asleep during the long boring trip. She felt someone hold her shoulders making her jolt from her sleep."There is no need to panic. We have arrived. " She heard Cedric say.
She quickly looked out the window to confirm they had arrived at the site. There were several large tents in the location to provide an outdoor experience and a large manor at the back although everyone stayed in their designated tents.
It looked like a fair in Abrielle’s opinion. Cedric stepped down to give her his hand which she accepted. She had to start getting used to being close and accepting help from him earlier; her resistance was only foolish and drew attention to her.
Several carriages were arriving in the location from different parts of the kingdom. "Your Highnesses, it is an honour you accepted the invitation." Rudeus chimed as soon they got down he was informed ahead of time of the first prince’s arrival so he came to welcome them.
"The princess insisted on coming," Cedric answered, not caring about what his words meant. Abrielle had a wary smile.
"That’s lovely, your tent has been set but if you are not comfortable with the outdoor accommodations we can make an exception to get a room prepared in the manor." He suggested.
Cedric nodded then he proceeded, Abrielle held his arms as her eyes darted around the crowd to wonder if she could find any character she recognised.
Their tent was located in a more private zone farther from the forest considering their safety. There were only two tents here, the second one must be for the royal delegates.
Abrielle was wondering if Cedric had an idea who that was. Her questions were quickly answered when she heard an excited voice chime. "Brother Cedric, I wasn’t expecting you to appear."
Abrielle felt a slight change in Cedric’s demeanour.
