The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 257: A silent reminder
Chapter 257: A silent reminder
"I am back, Your Highness, and it seems like you have guests," Evelyn said as she approached the door. Her eyes were darting between Abrielle and Callista. Unease in her gaze
"Apparently, I was just leaving; it was nice talking to you, Princess Abrielle." Callista used the opportunity to flee the room before Abrielle could say a word.
Evelyn watched the priestess run like being chased by a monster. She knew she was in no place to question the princess, so she shrugged off and approached the princess, who was still seated by the fireplace.
"I hope she didn’t cause any trouble," Evelyn mentioned placing the tray on the small table. Abrielle shook her head, placing the book aside.
"Nothing worth attention," Abrielle answered, accepting the cup of warm tea sweetened with cream and sugar. She was feeling a bit cold tonight.
She took a slow sip before glancing at Evelyn, who was preparing the snacks. "I heard Cedric disappeared after his duel," Abrielle mentioned. There was a subtle change; Evelyn’s shoulder was going stiff.
Evelyn was a bit taken aback, but she quickly regained her composure. "It’s nothing to worry about. The prince is out on some official matters." Evelyn explained taking a step back. Abrielle could sense she was still trying to hide something.
"Official matters," Abrielle repeated, sounding sceptical. "Yes, unfortunately, I can’t reveal the details." Evelyn insisted on keeping her lips shut.
"Have there been any words from my mother?" Abrielle asked, trying to change the topic.
"Yes, she came to the castle searching for you. That leaves the question: will you head back to the castle tomorrow, or do you plan on staying till the rose duel is over? I have to know if I will send some luggage over." Evelyn inquired, although there was nothing wrong with Abrielle staying here it wasn’t common
"I don’t think there would be a need for that, I will be heading back tomorrow. What did mother say during her visit?" She knew Rebecca still had a mouth full of complaints to tell her.
"Oh, that reminds me. She wants you to accompany her to a club meeting to introduce you to the noble wives. She insists you attend." Evelyn explained, Abrielle didn’t like the thought of it but she knew Rebecca would never take no for an answer.
If must, she would come here to drag her out.
"When is the club meeting?" Abrielle knew of the club meetings, but Callista never attended one. Abrielle was a member of a particular club Rebecca introduced her to, but many details weren’t mentioned in the book.
Hazel vaguely mentioned it was where noble wives gathered to gossip and match-make their daughters. One should be held this week since nobles from all over the kingdom were in Vitalis.
"If I remember clearly, it will be tomorrow evening, a few hours before the banquet, to enable the ladies to attend both events. If you are attending I will send a letter to your mother. " Evelyn informed Abrielle, the princess guessed she would have to leave this room. That was a good reason to leave even Cedric would not hold her.
She just hoped her punishment, as he described, was over. "Please send word tonight. I will leave for the castle at dawn tomorrow." Abrielle could not leave without informing Cedric. It was the least she could do since she was treading on thin ice.
.
"I will handle the preparations," Evelyn bowed, she wanted to send a knight over to Rebecca to make things faster.
Abrielle suddenly remembered something that was bothering her, "Did anything happen this morning out of the norm? I can’t help but notice there is something off about the mood tonight."
Evelyn’s eyes seemed to sparkle realizing what Abrielle was talking about. "Yes, something did happen. Princess Astrid was caught in a compromising position with a servant in the garden next to the banquet hall. They were both naked." It was hilarious how Evelyn informed Abrielle with a straight face the princess could not help but burst into a laugh.
She was surprised but this was so funny. Why did she feel it was Cedric that caused this? "That’s pretty scandalous."
"The palace was in chaos in the morning. General Eris almost withdrew from the duel to handle his family issue." Abrielle laughed harder. She could not help but imagine Cedric’s expression when seeing how marvellously his plan went.
He was a heartless jerk to wait for such a grand event to humiliate Astrid. His laugh dried off, remembering that he was also her enemy and nemesis.
Her hands started to twitch and her appetite was ruined due to the terror Cedric struck in her heart.

They were watching, Abrielle always knew this day would come. With a sad smile, she climbed the stage under everyone’s gaze.
Her eyes met him standing there with a sword and blank gaze. She was scared she didn’t want to move forward but the guard behind her pushed her forward. She fell on her face, the chains on her hand and legs clanked against each other
"Get up. I don’t have forever", he told her, her face was by his feet. Abrielle was scared to gaze at him. "Cedric", she muttered, but there was no warmth in his eyes.
"KILL THE WITCH "
"KILL THE WITCH"
The crowd echoed; with a sad smile on her face, Abrielle glanced up. "You will be next." She spat at his shoes. Cedric’s gaze didn’t change, not even pity in it.
The guard pulled her away, seeing how disrespectful she was, pulling her to the Guillotine. This was going to be her end after everything. They all wanted her death.
In chains she was made to kneel, her head presented to be chopped off. The chains on her hands were unlocked, then locked within the Guillotine, same with her head. She was still smiling at him, the monster she was married to, the one meant to end her.
He unsheathed his sword and approached her, about to slay her.

Abrielle
Someone was calling her name in the distance. Her eyes snapped open, tears streaming down her cheeks while her entire body trembled.
"Cedric," she muttered, she was in his embrace. She was disoriented and confused about her reality.
"Abrielle, thank the goddess you are back. You were crying in your dream." Cedric could barely say hugging her tightly.
